Lone Survivor was just....amazing. Words can't even describe right now
Technically it was made so well that I just finished a training video for the army in VA, and a lot of the shots and ideas we had were inspired by this film.
Anybody care to tell Indiana about this Ray Allen guy? I heard he can shoot. Maybe ignoring him on defense in the fourth quarter isn't the best strategy.
Godzilla was so bad but very entertaining at the same time
As is tradition for the franchise.
I hope they draft Embiid. That means either Parker or (hopefully) Wiggins to my Sixers. Hope to get a steal at #10, as well to go with Noel and ROTY MCW (last year's #10 overall) from 2013 draft. Young dynasty in the making.
I like Garfield better as both Spider-Man and Parker. But that's just me. I think he captures his youth a bit better, whereas Maguire was more of a more mature Parker to me. That's just my opinion, though. You're certainly entitled to yours.
Garfield is by far the better actor, so that accounts for something. Personally, the first two Spider-Man movies with Maguire have yet to be rivaled. I don't think it's been close, either. However, I'll take the Amazing series over Spider-Man 3 any day.
And then there's the good. I'll give him props when they're due. If he keeps making plays like that, we'll be just fine. I was referring to a much earlier play. The way I remember it, Chykie saved the day.
This one:
I doubt the Pacers even put up a fight anymore after this.
And my Sixers get stuck at number three in the draft. I hate realizing we probably could have luckily ended up in that spot even if we tried. Oh well.
10 n 11 are enough to convince me to sign a petition to never allow him to make another movie again
Don't say that. He's such a good guy to work for. He is almost single handedly keeping the Philly film business afloat, and he is doing so much good in the community with all his money. I hope he keeps getting paid forever.
The Pacers on the other hand played exceptionally well on Sunday, and with a win tonight going into Miami with a 2-0 lead would be huge for them. If they can get at least 1 win in Miami they will be sitting pretty coming back to home court for game 5.
Im going to go out on a limb and say whoever wins the game tonight will advance to the Finals, my gut says it will be the Pacers. As long as they continue to score the way they did in game 1 they should have a good chance to win or at least force another epic 6 or 7 game debacle against Miami. But if they go back to scoring 70-90 a game like in the previous 2 series against ATL and WAS they will be SOL big time.
Im saying the Pacers pull a huge upset and win the series in 6....someone has to dethrone the Heat, might as well be the top seed in the East.
I hope you're right, but I don't know. It's pretty much a guarantee the Pacers lay an egg or two before the series is over, which means they have to win all the close games with no margin for error in order for your prediction to come through. Seriously, have you ever seen a good team as unpredictable as Indiana this year? Crazy highs and lows all season.
Thunder are probably going to get swept, Westbrook and Durant could drop 50 a piece and still the Thunder would only score maybe 115 and the Spurs could put up 120 in a heartbeat. Thunder have no scorers other than KD and WB and even with Serge Ibaka they stand no chance. If they are smart they should look to trade Russell Westbrook this offseason and add 2-3 decent scorers, or maybe a draft pick(s). They lack depth and depth wins rings.
Thunder will NEVER win a championship with this current roster and honestly KD is turning into Lebron and is going to start getting criticized hard about winning a ring.
Spurs win this series in 4.
I think the loss of Ibaka is bigger than you are giving credit for. Now, the Thunder are forced to go super small to score, meaning the Spurs are unstoppable in the paint. If they go big, they limit the Spurs scoring, but can't get a bucket themselves on the other end unless one of their dynamic duo makes a great one-on-one play. Ibaka was the key to their happy medium, which is now dead.
I saw a tweet that Sammy Seamster really stood out above all other CB's at camp this past weekend.
Even above all those corners we drafted...oh, wait.
Seriously though, good for him. I hope he is good enough to at least push Jackson and Brown to raise their game to another level. I still have flashbacks of the play after Jimmy got banged up against Pitt and they brought in Brown for a play and lines him up over Antonio Brown. Ben didn't even have to place the ball, he just looked once and lobbed it to that sideline for an easy fifteen. Chykie wasn't even in the picture.

It's one of the privileges we own, discussing porn purges and stuff.
Obviously since the poster stated you ALL lost posts during the porn purge, I can understand the desire for secrecy.
Anyone checked out Penny Dreadful on Showtime yet? I just turned it on. Not really my cup of tea but I'm willing to give it a shot.
I've seen the first two. I'm waiting for the pace to pick up, but I'm interested for now. I'll give it at least another two episodes before I decide whether or not to abandon it.
It could be 'The Christmas Tale', part of the 'Six films to keep you Awake' collection. Doesn't fit your exact description but it does have a woman Santa Claus in a hole, and its in Spanish.
That's gotta be it.
There's actually quite a few on the list I haven't seen (roughly 20 movies). 1408 is one of them, and your review definitely has me wanting to see it, along with several others.
I will return tomorrow with my rants about how it is a total dis to put High Tension and The Sixth Sense in such a pedestrian position! :rage:
Please understand that I have seen 1000s of horror movies, so any movie on this list is hardly "pedestrian" by my standards. These are all gems that I love and respect.
On a personal note, I have worked on a bunch of M. Night's jobs since The Sixth Sense, and even though the more recent films aren't as great, the jobs were awesome. He is a great guy, and I hope his latest work, which harkens back to his horror beginnings, ends up earning him back some of the respect he has lost over the years. He represents almost half of the big budget films that still shoot here in Philly, and I hope he never stops.
Yes, I haven't seen the remake only the original. I understand your point about it being a trailblazer though. There are two things that played into me not connecting with it. I'm not the biggest slasher sub-genre fan, and I saw it much later than most modern classics (which tends to water it down).
Grabbers was good. A good time for sure. I believe it is on Netflix. Definitely very Shaun of the Dead-ish.
Yeah, it isn't my favorite sub-genre (I believe there are only five such films in my whole list), but I give movies like that their due for the explosion of popularity and countless horror movies that have come to be thanks to the level of fandom slashers brought to the horror film world.
Good list, thanks for sharing. Can't argue with any of those. Covers most of the heavy hitters. Love how you have Beetlejuice on it. One of my favorite flicks, not only because its good, because it carries heavy nostalgia for me. Glad to see you include it. You liked Black Christmas a hell of a lot more than me. And I'm surprised you have The Shining out of your top 10 (I'm a sucker for the haunted house sub-genre).
I've seen all of those films but am always looking for suggestions for people who know their films. Do you have any very deep cuts, that are rarely seen (but of course worth a watch)?
Hopefully you realized I was referring to the original Black Christmas from the 70s. It's so high due to it's impact mostly. It kind of started the slasher sub-genre, so I consider it a big deal. I do really like it, though.
I recommended Afflicted to fly originally. Small, recent release sure to see future cult fame. I also just noticed that the Irish movie Grabbers finally made it's way over to the States and On Demand (maybe Netflix, too, I haven't checked). This is a flick sure to provide a good time, especially in a group. Think Tremors meets Shaun of the Dead.
Man, I wish I got in on this thread sooner.
I wanted to sign up on the site so that I can argue with you over some of those rankings but that's probably futile
but I will definitely subscribe
I'll argue all day about it, but I'm sure there are some on there you haven't seen. If it inspires you to see some of these gems, it's worth it. I'm assuming you spotted some on the list you dislike and that's why you want to argue? BTW, this list was originally 500, but I widdled it down somehow, and it was made a few years ago. There might be some new entries if I were to do it again, and the order would most certainly change with each pass.
Afflicted sounds like a good choice, thank you! Juan of the Dead is something I've been wanting to see, but never seem to be in the mood to watch for some reason.
Had to look up Near Dark, sounds like another one I'm going to like. More importantly, I'm trying to show my son why vampires are way cooler than these new-fangled zombies...kids these days...
Check out this list if you have the time. These aren't necessarily my 100 favorite horror movies, but I was trying to focus on originality and importance to the horror community. You'll certainly notice I have included a lot of films not everyone might consider horror, but I try my best to explain my selections in the write-ups. FYI, this site is great to check from time-to-time as it has an active community reviewing all the big and small horror movies as they come out, as well as nice little articles like "What to Watch on Netflix This Month."
http://ossuary.best-horror-movies.com/blogs/entry/Beanfigger-s-Top-100-Horror-Films-100-76
Here are some road-less-traveled suggestions in addition to Beanfiggers suggestions. Trying to limit them to 'action-packed', 'filmed in the backyard' and 'similar to High Tension' the best I can.
Martyrs - Pretty Gory, but a movie I champion. French film. If you look up High Tension on IMDB, they recommend this.
Eden Lake ((2008) - W/ Michel Fassbender before he became extremely famous. Keeps you on the edge of your seat tension
The Shrine (2010) - Very atmospheric. Way better than what I expected
The Loved Ones (2009) - This film has developed quite the cult following of late
Frontier(s) (2007) - Another french horror film
Good list. I stayed away from some of these suggestions when he mentioned he wasn't in the mood for big gore at the moment, but they all warrant a watch from a horror fan for sure.
Yes to all of the above!
Right now, I'm in the mood for something a bit tense, not too gory but at the same time, action-packed, and has a "filmed in the backyard" feel to it. Something similar to High Tension would perfect!
My son wants to watch a zombie movie as well, but we've seen all the popular ones already, so we'll have to dig deep for that one
Juan of the Dead (Spanish) is a lot of fun. Also, a good new, low-budget flick called Afflicted just hit Netflix streaming and is also On Demand still, I believe. It's found footage, but doesn't seem too played out, and it's a nice twist on an old myth.
I don't know what you've seen, but Near Dark is a good, action vampire flick from the 80s that might be the type of thing you're looking for.
Hey guys, I'm a big horror movie fan....seen/own plenty, and looking to add something new to the collection.
Any recommendations? What are your favorites? And I get into all different types - slashers, supernatural, zombie/vampire, etc.
This is what I'm talking about. Looking for anything specific? Old/new? Foreign/domestic? Action-packed/slow-burn? I'm your guy for this.
