  1. Two words: Star Wars.

Putting almost any movie out near star wars' opening was suicide.

Though their numbers were dwarfed by the record millions made by Star Wars, there have been a few other movies that have done very well these past few weeks. Both Sisters and Daddy's Home did very well for comedies. The Alvin and the Chipmunks sequel has held on to do much better than anyone projected. And as far as projections, The Revenant just destroyed all the projections made prior to its wide release. Basically, this has been a really big few weeks for the whole box office, which kind of highlights the films that did poorly.

  2. Interesting. I'm a Flyers fan, and I'd be over the moon if they made the playoffs..got some catching up to do!

Edit: They are only 4 pts behind the Wildcard so I guess it's possible..

Either way I just want to see continued improvement in the 2nd half. I really like what Dave Hakstol has done so far..and They have been seriously handcuffed by the salary cap mess that Holmgren created, and probably will be next season too..but they definitely are trending up..more speed on defense, and they have two excellent goaltenders.

They need to find another legit top 3 forward, I like Raffl, but he's a 2nd liner.

They're playing at a high level, just made some key moves to dump salary... Really, they are the only franchise here in Philly to be too optimistic about.

  3. Okay, no, he wasn't like bent over, but he tried to at least lower his body and target range. When he began to lower himself, Brown was still extended and coming back to the ground. If I'm Burficht, I'm thinking he's probably going to stay up, but Brown must have noticed him coming because to completely crumple like that was totally surprising.

Burficht definitely did lean in, but had Brown not completely crumpled, which I don't understand, all that's going to happen is Burficht is going to hit him in the stomach, and had Brown had the ball, it's likely jarred loose and a really huge play.

He had time to see the ball was not caught, though. He wasn't trying to jar anything loose. He took steps after the ball went flying yards over Brown's head, and he went for a kill shot. Maybe he didn't know he would hit him flush in the head like that, but since he did there is no one to blame but Burfict for that. If the point of the rules is to protect players, then a play like that where a defenseless guy comes down without the ball and gets viciously knocked out cold HAS to be called. Burfict is trashy, and he cost them dearly.

  4. Not saying I disagree but I always get irritated with the, so and so is 35-3 when they have 30 carries or more type stats. They're incredibly misleading when the pass was used to gain a lead and open up the run, a lot of times a good share of those carries are accumulated in the 4th quarter after the lead has been obtained.

This game last week for example, I understand you don't want Mallet throwing 60x a game, but the defense knows that too and force you into having to pass. If we ran the ball more we would of lost by more, they weren't getting it done more often than not this year. Games where we were running it well we didn't necessarily go away from it, we just didn't have too many of those.

So I guess we do agree, we need to improve our running game to be more efficient and produce more big plays and setup play action to that guy we drafted this year.

I wouldn't mind throwing every play if that is what gets us wins. However, this year with four different QBs and a band of misfits at receiver was not the ideal season to throw it more than any other team. We threw it so much, and we were only way behind in two games. We even had the lead through the first half this past week and still threw it almost 60 times. I have to think with better balance we wouldn't have been so inept in the third quarter.

  5. Click bait and he's good at it. No real substance, though.

I just love that there are threads devoted to these same subjects for group discussions, but this guy manages to create separate ones specifically for his own thoughts and opinions. People seem to enjoy them, though, judging from the page counts and spirited debates. I've tried a couple times to engage in actual informative conversations on these threads, but that is always a fool's errand it seems.

  6. I wouldn't say Eli has had a substantially better group of receivers over the years. This year was rough for Flacco, but outside 2015, I'd say Boldin, Smith, Sr, Mason, his TEs in a healthy Pitta, Daniels, Heap etc have been relatively on pat with what Eli has had. They are very similar QBs in very similar situations. Those saying otherwise likely look at Eli as having been sorta average at the QB position and certainly don't want to liken Flacco to that category/ranking.

You listed a bunch of players as though that's who Flacco has had as his group of receivers. That's one at a time for the receivers (and one year with none of them), and didn't have those tight ends playing much together at the same time, either. Basically, Flacco has mostly had one solid veteran receiver and one tight end each season. Eli has certainly had several seasons with multiple good receivers playing. He hasn't had an embarrassment of riches or anything, but I do think he has had it better in the RECEIVER department, and Shockey was a pretty good TE for a while with him. As far as overall team, Flacco has been blessed to be on the better end of that coin.
