  1. Obligatory public service announcement reminding my fellow BR forum-goers that a restructure =/= paycut. Brady is getting his money, just changing the upfront guarantee, which can be done when you're on the doorstep of 40.

Brady actually got a raise (again) by doing this. I'm sure Joe wouldn't say no to that.

  2. Steelers or Bengals? Who you rather face in the Wild Card Round?

I'd like to play Denver in their current state. Hard matchups all around, but that's the one I want.

  3. QOTD: If Ray Rice comes back from suspension and isn't as productive as the Ravens hoped, should Pierce be named the starter over him?

Are we all just assuming Pierce looks great before Rice returns?

  4. Always miss football, but for some reason this off season is worse. Been hitting up vids of the Ravens to curb my withdrawal!

Probably because it started way too early this year.

  5. If the Ravens beat the Patriots on a miracle play after it seems they were destined to lose, someone needs to take the song Orioles Magic and re-write it as Ravens Magic.

And while they're at it, they should start coming up with a plan to reschedule the Orioles home game on the first Thursday in September. Just in case.

  6. With both the Bengals and us winning this week. Aren't the Steelers mathematically eliminated?

The Steelers make it if they win out, the Jets win out, the Chargers lose at least one more game, and both the Dolphins AND Ravens lose out. There might be one other far fetched scenario, as well.

  7. Flacco and Rice - Soulmates? The least productive seasons on their careers: 2008 (Ravens win AFC North) and 2013 (Ravens win AFC North again?) It seems as Joe goes Rice goes and visa-versa, in both seasons they managed to have their best showings down the strecth. So, if Flacco's the Man - Rice is the Man, as well. I think this year is pre-destiny. GO Ravens!!!

Thanks for the link. Just as I thought, we finished 11-5 in 2008, a game behind Pittsburgh, and got a wildcard spot.

The Ravens didn't win the North in 2008, did they? Also, this is not going to end up being one of Joe's least productive seasons.

  9. Week 11 Edition; Flacco has been bested by his share of rookie, journeyman or never was quarterbacks this season. At risk of feeling like Charlie Brown looking for the Great Pumpkin is this the week Flacco starts making the Ravens look wise for paying him.........Probably not!

I'm not a Brady hater, but "Brady taking a paycut"? C'mon, man. His current contract guarantees more money than any other single contract on the history of the league. Restructuring for the cap and adding dozens of millions to your guaranteed money is hardly taking a paycut. I'm not saying what he did was wrong because I'm all for players getting all the money they can, but let's stop pretending that he took a paycut when in actuality it was a raise.

It wasn't even Charlie Brown who was waiting for the Great Pumpkin.
