  1. Big Ben also got nothing for the first accusation. I believe his suspension was for everything that he did that was clearly wrong in the second situation outside of the sexual assault accusation. It's hard to believe that if it was actually about a sexual assault, that the suspension would have only been four games.
  2. It might take more than a few years unless they win the next three championships. The rest of the players are pretty firmly positioned as the best of the best, but I do really like Durant, and your first couple picks have you a great luxury of drafting a guy like him.
  3. This is the only issue I find with this whole thing, as well. What will constitute an offense? Accusal? Charge? Conviction? My guess is that if it coming down to a lifetime ban, the league will make absolutely sure they have it right and the legal process has completely run its course and doing them guilty. Just look how long it took for them to decide whether it was secondhand smoke before levying a year-long suspension. A lifetime ban would likely take months of deliberation.
  4. Exactly, but you would have to agree that domestic violence rates would skyrocket if the maximum penalty (legally and in the league) was a $100 fine. Harsher penalties won't eliminate the issue, but you can't deny that it will help.
  5. Glad to see you looked at the facts and came around to understanding this is actually a good thing. For those stating Goodell is pandering or playing to public outcry, at what point in his controversy-filled reign has this ever been the case? That is not how he operates. It's good that he is actually thinking about the larger issues and how they affect people other than himself and his league. This was not done to earn him more money, it was done because it is the right thing to do. For once, we should all applaud Goodell for acting on behalf of others and what is morally right and stop looking for even more excuses to pile on. Thank you, Goodell. Well done.
  6. He's saying he made a mistake. He's not going back and changing Rice's suspension, so your metaphor doesn't work with the life in prison argument. He made a mistake. If you think that shows weakness, that's your prerogative, but why be upset that he admitted it. So you would be happier if Rice acted like he didn't do anything wrong? No. Everyone applauded him for admitting a mistake. I just think it's hypocritical for us to not extend the same to Goodell.
  7. So you're against harsher penalties for domestic violence?
  8. Punishment after the fact is the whole basis of any justice system. Knowing these larger punishments are in place will certainly be a deterrent. You don't think more players would smoke weed or use PEDs if the punishment was smaller? It's the same principle, and the NFL should not want repeat domestic abusers in their league, anyway.
  9. There were multiple reports stating that those tapes were shown to him before he made the decision. Just because everything anyone says nowadays becomes public doesn't mean we have to automatically assume it isn't sincere. He said he went too light on the punishment. He feels the punishment for what happened should have been worse. That is the "why". What else do you want? I already said I supported his decision in the first place, so I'm not going to argue it, but I don't know why you have want to attack the man for doing the right thing now. It is a larger issue than just Ray Rice. What's important is that the issue is being acknowledged for how serious it is. Goodell can't even do something good without being attacked.
  10. But he actually did see the tapes from inside the elevator, so he does know what actually happened. I respected his decision because he had more information than I did, but I also respect him for admitting he made a mistake if he feels he did. This memo was not sent to the public to make him look good; it was sent to the owners to establish a new set of rules that are needed.
  11. Commish actually admitted he got it wrong in Rice case. Good to hear that from him. Also glad this applies to all NFL personnel, not just players.
  12. Harsh punishments for future domestic violence offenses. 6 games first offense, lifetime ban second offense. Doubt any player take pretrial settlements now. Lawyers will be highly compensated to get an acquittal/not guilty.
  13. You're gonna need two baskets for all the scoring those two will do.
  14. And your ideal team is full of a bunch of my favorite players.
  15. All the combos are looking pretty sick right now. This is fun.
  16. I was sitting at a neighboring blackjack table as Sir Charles at a casino in AC, and then my wife ran into him at a Rite Aid in Bryn Mawr the same week. I love my old Sixers. Oh, and that golf swing:
  17. Yeah, I haven't gotten myself to watch Chastity Bites, yet, though it's been on my DVR for weeks. Another recommendation, not really a horror movie per se, but Doc of the Dead is a documentary about the evolution of zombie films is on Netflix. It is a solid time killer.
  18. With only a couple teams on this side of my pick needing a center, I thought there was actually a slim chance I could grab The Admiral at great value late third. Silly me.
  19. Unpredictability is what makes this fun. Your first two picks are rock solid, though. Two of my favorites, and great value at 11&12.
  20. There are some that certainly "would" have been gone if I controlled all the picks, but after West I don't see anyone that I would definitely say "should" have been gone. With talents like all these players, there aren't big gaps between tiers, so opinions can vary without a large dispute from me.
  21. That was serious value with the West pick, though. Top Ten player at 17.
  22. Good pick on West. Bad etiquette on discussing names of future picks.
  23. Fast 1,5&6 were the best for me. 6 just decided to say screw it and go for all the ridiculousness we could handle. It didn't take itself too seriously, and I applaud the results. Fast 2 was just another movie, Tokyo Drift the same. I think 4 was by far the worst. Not entertaining enough to mask the flaws in performance and story like the last two. Can't wait for Fast 7.
  24. I see one huge value hanging out there for someone in the next few picks.
