The FO will have a tough off season trying to put a winner on the field. First and foremost they have to deal with Joe's huge salary cap number. He has the highest salary of any NFL QB, when averaged over the life of the contract... per the Cheat sheet. PFF has him ranked as the 25th QB (it will probably go down a bit after today's performance). Secondly the Ravens now have a track record of whiffing in he early rounds of the draft. If both trends continue it's hard to see how they can be overcome for next season.
kudos to Dennis for the grit and determination to come back from two of the worst injuries I have seen in pro football. Joe... not so much. If he has any real interest in winning he does a pretty good job of camouflaging it. I think his jolly demeanor, laughing it up with Ben, as the Ravens were leaving the field in Pittsburg last week says it all.
He was the best of the old breed. The NFL won't be the same without him. Camp... pay attention to this guy.
Does the writer remind anyone else of Baghdad Bob?
Never saw a player with more grit and determination.
It will be tough working around Joe's salary cap number. The highest salary of any NFL QB when averaged over the life of the contract (per the Cheat sheet)... for the 25th rated QB per PFF. If they can navigate that obstacle then Ozzie will have earned his money.
I'm as disappointed as anyone but it's hard to blame Harbs for poor draft picks, unwise signings, inflated contracts and poor QB play. He does what he can with the team he is provided with.

I hope we lose the game against the Bengals so our draft position could be as high as 14pick. I hope we use some of our TEs in a trade to move up even higher in the draft and get our next Suggs. What you think? We should the season behind us and look forward to the free agency and draft.
You are either living in the distant past or drinking way too much purple cool aid.
The Raven's biggest off-season need is for Mr. B to take a hard look at this organization... especially the FO.
It's win or go home... pretty simple.

Winners
1. Torrie Smith
2. K.O.
3. Jernigan
Losers
1. Correa
2. Maxx Williams
3. Arthur Brown
4. Sergio Kindle
5. Terrence (Dog abuser) Cody
When you throw in his other high picks that have bombed out like Elam, Carl Davis, Ed Dickson, Jah Reid, Bernard Pierce and Terrence Brooks. it's no wonder this team has struggled since winning the Super Bowl. That's every team. 90% of ALL players drafted after pick #45 are BUSTS.
You forget the Ravens drafted 6th... that makes them at #38 for their second round pick. There was incredible talent available at #38. Ozzie traded back and got still him at #42.
Ozzi whiffs again.
Wonder how the game turned out in his dream?

So you think we got adequate help and there is not a significant drop-off in ability when Jimmy goes down?
Too bad the FO failed to address this obvious need over the off season. Jimmy Smith has been injury prone for his entire career and we didn't get adequate help to offset the drop-off in talent when he suffers one of his frequent injuries.
1 hour ago, FloridalovesRavens said:Give it a rest. Think positive. Flacco will do just fine.
We can always hope it turns out that way.
Stanley is the least of our concerns... top two things to worry about are the lack of Jimmy Smith and how many Flacco turnovers we are likely to suffer.
If Jimmy Smith misses this game (or is playing hurt) our chances diminish significantly. Either way we need to bolster our CB position over the off-season. Smith has proven injury prone his entire career and there is a big drop-off when he isn't healthy. It seems like the FO should have done this over the prior off-season.
He's right about Jimmy Smith... need him healthy for this one.
1. On Joe: It’s time to start thinking about the Ravens future QB. Joe is not accurate, he does not read defense very well, and he is turning over the football. He needs everything around him to be in place in order for him to be successful (A good O-line, a good run game, a good OC, good receivers, vets to provide emotional spark, and a great defense to minimize the impact of his mistakes).
The issue is his salary prevents the front office from having all of that in place at the same time. Either through draft or free agency, bring someone in to push him and look to the future.
9 years, 5 OCs, 0 excuses left.
2. On Coaching: I think Marty play called his way out of being the OC for next season. When your coach goes in front of the press and says ‘worst call ever’, then you are going to lose your job. I don’t give John credit for taking responsibility because he threw Marty under the bus while doing it.
He talked about vetoing the play call. His staff should be smart, aware of the situation, and in sync with the game plan.
3. Defense: Eagles front man-handled the Ravens defense in the run game. That’s our strength and they shredded us on the ground.
Williams, Guy, Jernigan did not make a case for breaking the bank to keep them after that butt whipping. It had nothing to do with play calling. Eagle’s offensive line just pushed them around. They need to turn it around.
Teams that break the bank on DT do not do well (JJ Watt- Texans, Haynesworth-Skins, Suh-Dolphins). None of them managed to be a perennial playoff team or win a Superbowl.
I hope we keep at least Williams, but Front office is already overpaying too many guys.
4. Front office: Too many 1st and 2nd round guys not making an impact on this team. OZ always rely on vets to keep team competitive to cover-up the poor drafts by him and DeCosta.
First it was injuries, then lacking playmakers. This season makes me believe it has been the coaching all along. If the Ravens miss the playoffs, what will they say?
5. Ravens vs Steelers doesn’t get any better with playoffs on the line. Better coaching and QB play would have prevented this situation, but it is what it is.
You pretty much summed things up. We can still hope that playing Pittsburgh will wake us up... but I'm certainly not going to bet on it based on what I watched today.
Is there any way to get out from under Joe's mega contract? A trade maybe?
Joe's usual two turnovers... resulting in both Philly scores.
1 hour ago, robbie29 said:"it is often forgotten that is what quarterbacks cost"
No- $120 million is what TOP TIER Quarterbacks cost. Joe is currently bottom tier (lower than 25th), and has been 3 of the 4 years since his postseason run. That is where a lot of the frustration comes from.
Actually Joe has the highest contract averaged per year of any NFL QB... per the Cheat Sheet. Anyone out there think Joe is anywhere near playing up to his contract?
If Joe had even a small fraction of Steve Smith's desire to win the Ravens would be a different team.

Lots of talk about getting rid of Harbs... think for a minute... you can't blame him for poor draft picks, poor personnel decisions, inflated contracts and poor QB play. He does as well as anyone could with the team they give him.
