No Ravens "D" what-so-ever.
So long as Monroe is the starter Hurst looks likely to get plenty of playing time. We shall soon see if he is up for it.
Time to worry yet?
looks more and more like a wasted first round pick
Some of you out there are awful quick to give up on the young man. Have a little heart, and a little patience.
Ngata will certainly try hard to have a big year... his next contract depends on it. If he does have a good year and gets the corresponding contract he will likely go into the tank... just like he did last time. I for one like Williams and Jernigan much better for their effort levels and attitudes. In any event it remains to be seen what Ngata has left in the tank.
It was clear when we drafted him that he was a class act... it's nice to see his play improve so fast. It's always great to see the good guys succeed.
I for one believe that if our luck runs out... and Joes misses some time we will still have a good chance to win. That's the first time I have felt this way since Bolger retired.
Without Elam Pollard seems like a good fit... he and Harbs would have to hash out a few things first but nothing that's not doable.
The injury bug is biting us again this year... Urban, Elam and Perriman one after another. Let's hope it doesn't continue like last year.
In fact, Dalton hasn't been plaing as great against the Ravens as we are inclined to think. He played 8 games against us, I would definitely take out the week#17 game of the 2012 season, because it was a game that didn't matter, and so Dalton only played a quarter, and even that largely against non-starting lineup on our D (and even that way he only posted a 10/15, 78 yards, 1/0 stat line).
The remaining 7 games he produced the following average stats:
22.71 comp./39.85 att.; 278.28 yards; 0.86 TD / 1.71 INT
These are by no means huge numbers - I would much rather call them average. Less than 1 TD and more than 1.5 INT'S per game... under 300 passing yards... slightly over 50% completition percentage... Never more than 2 TD's in one game, and only 2 full games without an INT. No, these are definitely not great numbers.
We may emember a much better Dalton because he had an AJ Green who somehow developed a habit of making an absolutely ridiculous circus catch each game against us... If he doesn't collect the hail marry two seasons ago, it would have been a simple W for us, not an overtime one. If he doesn't make that incredible catch of the ball dribbling off our CB's hands Week#1 last season, we would have probably won that game...
No, it's not Dalton we need to focus on IMHO, but AJ. Green. That guy always has at least one special trick up his sleeves for us...
If you multiply his 278.28 yards per game by a 16 game schedule he would have about 4,450 passing yards... a banner year... better than Joe has ever gotten. The Bengals didn't beat us the last three games without Dalton hurting us repeatedly.
I believe the Ravens need to make Dalton their number one priority. He kills us and then plays poorly against much of the rest of the league... go figure. If we want to win the division and get a home field playoff game for a change... we need to figure out something about this guy.
He's one injury away from the DL... on the other hand if he stays healthy he may well be a significant contributor this year. Only time will tell... but best wishes for a healthy and productive year.
Because of my job I had the duty to work closely with Mr. Modell as he made the move to Baltimore... I was extremely impressed by his character... a fine man who didn't let wealth go to his head. I still become angry when the garbage from Cleveland denigrates his character. He was a fine man and a great owner. We are fortunate in B-more to have two great owners in a row.
No question... Tucker as been outstanding... that said Ozzie has to see where that money is best spent. If it cost us Yanda for example... might be better to look for another less costly option as kicker.
Ngata will be missed but not for long. Even with playing only 2/3 of the snaps he wore down last year... thus the ped's he got caught taking. With the deep DL rotation available and TJ's talent we will be clicking after a few games. Add in a tough pass rush and an improved secondary we should be solid on "D" for a long time.
I can't imagine keeping a fullback(that fumbles, low production) over any of these tight ends.....lets see....6-5...260....6-3....255...(no DLorLB wants to see these guys blocking for our RB'S)They would make waayyyyyy better fullbacks than what we have at that position.....
It's tough to be a lead blocker from the TE position... our running game is often predicated on the lead blocker so I don't think Juice is in competition for a roster spot with any of these guys.
Shows he's a young man with his head on straight... we are lucky to have him in B-more.
yeah, no. We sucked against the run when Haloti was out. But I think Brandon, with another year's experience steps up and fills the hole.
We gave up less than 100 total yards on the ground per game and won three out of four. The Houston game was primarily lost for reasons other than Foster's 90 yards. I'll take those numbers and Williams and Jernigan will be better this year.
my biggest concern is being able to stop the run.
We did very well last year without Ngata... no reason to think this year will be any different. Our DL will have another year under their belts and they are very hungry (unlike Ngata).
Biggest question IMHO is Yanda... does he want to stay a Raven for life? Does he want to squeeze every last dime out of his contract. I hope he stays but we all know if he prices himself out of Ozzie's salary range the ravens will move on. That's what Ozzie does and rightly so.
Reading this I would have the opinion that Trestman will thrive here and that he may show a little loyalty (unlike his predecessor who said one day he was staying and left the next). He seems to be a guy who at this stage of his life may appreciate good pay and a good working atmosphere over taking another winger on a different organization.
No doubt 2014 was a really strong draft year... kind of takes the sting out of the 2013 draft. 2015 looks like another home run as well!
Are there any rookies that haven't picked off Matt Schaub pass yet... maybe on offense. Sure hope he can get it together, he was a fine QB for a long time and his age shouldn't be a problem for quite a while yet.
Question is... what's wrong with Matt Schaub... and is he going to come around?

I read the "computer" gives the Ravens an 11% chance of making the playoffs. Sounds about right to me.
