  1. No, I don't think upset over Receivers, the top 3 were gone by the time the Ravens picked. Also, 3 Quarterbacks were taken and OJ Howard fell to us. A great TE (Sharpe, Heap) and Running Game is also what the Ravens were known for besides a Great Defense. I mean that's great, but you also have a bunch of young TEs on the roster already, so do we just throw them away? There's what we WERE known for, and there's what we are NOW known for. They don't have to be the same thing. We didn't used to be a team that invested heavily in the QB position. Now we are, and so are all the consistent good teams in this league. Times change. Teams change. We have a bunch of Tight Ends that were on Injured Reserve last year, Ben Watson 37 in December, Williams and Gilmore. One who is more of a blocking tight end who has been suspended 2 times and one more will be out of the league. Pitta who is one of my favorites but he gets no YAC. Tight End is still very important in the NFL and its not one of the Ravens Strengths as so many people beleive. If Pitta stays healthy, he is good. He might not get the YAC but he makes contested catches and moves the chains. I like Boyle, he has a chance to be great if he stays out of trouble. I think Williams will end up being a bust and Watson is definitely questionable after an achillies injury, but we shall see. But the one nobody is talking about is Darren Waller. Im pretty high on him. Hes big, hes got decent speed and he can catch. Also if Gillmore stays healthy, he is good too. I think a combination of Pitta, Gillmore, Waller and Boyle is a good group. Pitta and Waller will be consistent. Gillmore may get hurt and if that trend continues, we may have to cut ties. But I don't see a problem with Pitta, Waller and Boyle (proided he doesn't get suspended) Moves the chains? He set a new NFL record for the most "failed receptions"... remember that stat? It roughly meant a reception that didn't get close to the 1st down marker.
  2. Think about it... by cutting Rice the Ravens were hit with a ton of dead money. No way they would have cut him without that video going public. He had been a model citizen prior to the drunken assault and was the Raven's most active player in the community.
  3. Eisenberg is a homer but he's right about this guy. Good pick in spite of problems.
  4. If the FO doesn't put together an OL that can give Joe time and open up the running lanes we will have another tough season no matter how good our "D" may turn out to be.
  5. The kid that the ravens signed from UVA (WR/RB) looks interesting. Just might be a keeper.
  6. I sure hope Ozzie has a plan for the OL... Two day three picks are unlikely to make much of an immediate impact.
  7. Ozzie has had no success in drafting WRs... maybe he will do better with undrafted players.
  8. We drafted a back-up CB for at east the early part of the season. Most likely he will be a starter for years to come in the future. If the FO can build a solid OL we might still have a pretty decent year.
  9. The closer we get to the season the more our OL becomes an issue. If we don't have a line that can give Joe ample time to find a receiver, make holes for our running backs and keep Joe off the DL it will be another tough year.
  10. Humphrey was the lowest rated non-QB taken on day one. Clearly Ozzie had him rated a lot differently than everyone else. I hope for the sake of the Ravens it works out but it's hard to see how this was a good move given all the talent they passed on.
  11. I think there is a good chance that no one will be left that the Ravens want to draft at 16 and they trade back a few spots to get someone in the second tier of their board and an extra 3rd round pick.
  12. The OL might make for a boring pick but if we don't wind up with an OL that can give Joe time to throw, give our running backs holes and keep Joe from getting injured it will be another tough year for our Ravens.
  13. He seems small, 6' 0" and 229 for an ILB in the NFL. One has to wonder how effective he would be at the next level unless switched to strong safety.
  14. All the optimism in the world is no substitute for a great OL. If the season started today we would be in big trouble.
  15. whether you like Joe or not... we had better do something about the OL so he has a chance to succeed... or stay healthy for that matter, because the way his contract is structured he will be our QB for a minimum of three more years.
  16. If the Ravens can't come up with a good to great OL the skill positions won't matter.
  17. Foster would be a sound pick if he is still there at 16... but it also depends on who might still be available at wide receiver and edge rusher. My money is on one of the later two positions.
  18. Another 8-8 year missing the play-offs? That was what everyone predicted for the Ravens last year and we all scoffed. I certainly hope the "experts" are wrong this time around.
  19. We passed on a lot of talent to hang on to his draft pick... we can only hope the FO made the right decision.
  20. Most "dead money" in the NFL... again. What does that say about our FO's skill at doing business?
  21. One thing you can say for Ozzie is that he is pretty darn good at picking offensive linemen. He better continue that trend this year because if we had to play the season with the group we have now we would be in a world of trouble... both with our starters and our depth.
  22. We have so many holes to fill in the draft that this move makes sense. Webb actually was playing fairly well as the season progressed last year. This takes some of the pressure off to use a high pick on a corner; allowing us to look toward the OL and a WR. If the season started today our OL would be our biggest weakness so we need some serious moves to shore it up.
  23. QB's and receivers... not his forte. LB's, TE, DL and OL pretty darn good.
  24. A second round pick means you are picking from the best (33rd to 64th) college players in the country. We should have had a lot more success in round two... KO and Ray Rice were good picks surrounded by a lot of poor to mediocre picks.
