  1. I'm sure Linta is calling Ozzie as we write this offering up a big salary cut for Joe so we will have the cap space to keep Williams...
  2. We need the cap space too badly to even consider retaining Watson. We all know how much Joe loves Pitta but a pay cut would certainly be in order after last year. Although he had a lot of catches his average yards per catch and per target was near the bottom of the league... as was his yardage after first contact. We need to gamble on our young guys and save the cap space to retain some our free agents or to sign others.
  3. Contractually we have no choice but to stick with Flacco for another three years. If we draft a QB, it would have to be in the later rounds on a player who might possible develop. New England got Brady in the 6th round for example. We have way too many holes to fill to draft a QB who will sit before round 6 or 7.
  4. I wouldn't be too surprised if Mallett gets a chance at a starting job somewhere in the league... if he does I can't wait to compare his stats with Joe's.
  5. "Baltimore invested three draft picks" to improve the pass rush. What we saw was opposing QB's having all day to pass... especially in the 4th quarter with the game on the line. Not much of an investment as it turned out.
  6. A lot of players are never the same after getting that first big contract... let's hope Williams has the kind of character to keep playing hard. He certainly seems to. As for the TE position we need to gamble on the young guys coming through. Watson is way to expensive to retain while Pitta would cost too much in dead money to cut (this year).
  7. I think everyone would be happy with mediocre at this point.
  8. A CB would be great but let's remember that a strong pass rush makes CB's better. We can't afford another season where opposition QB's have all day to pass... especially in the 4th quarter with the game on the line.
  9. Problem with your point is that he was playing the same way prior to his knee injury.
  10. He would be a good fit for the Ravens... might even impart some of his attitude into some of our players.
  11. Looks almost like the Ravens think Joe will magically play better this year. I hope they are taking some concrete steps to improve his mechanics that we don't know about. Otherwise 2016's 24th ranked QB likely will continue to struggle - as will the Ravens.
  12. Had we not wasted that money we could have carried over that cap amount to this year to help us sign Williams. Wasted cap space in both cases.
  13. Would be really great to see him stay... too bad we wasted that cap space on a 36 yoa TE who has had exactly one good season in his career, and a washed up return specialist who made bad decisions and couldn't hang on to the ball. Let's hope we have learned something from our mistakes.
  14. With all the players we are looking at letting go... Williams, Wagner, Juice and SSS retiring it will be a major accomplishment to get back to 8-8... unless Ozzie nails this year's draft (including the first three rounds this time.
  15. For my money it is time for Ozzie to retire. We clearly need a fresh perspective in our drafting system. This would also ensure that we don't lose Decosta to the Colts.
  16. If Ozzie doesn't nail this year's draft (including the top 3 picks this time) this year's 8-8 record will be remembered as the good old days.
  17. Your point has certainly been proven to the nth degree.
  18. Running back at #1? Someone has to be making a funny. We have good backs... we have problems on our coaching staff, OL, CB, edge rusher, and now add inside linebacker to the list. If Ozzie doesn't ace this draft (including the 2nd and 3rd rounds) we will have a tough time repeating an 8-8 season.
  19. Good football player and a good man. Godspeed to you.
  20. Unless Ozzie really nails the draft we will be fortunate to be 8-8 again.
  21. Exactly... Joe has poor fundamentals and the new OC apparently made no effort to correct the problems. Joe is pleased that the Ravens (or the HC to be precise) decided to keep Marty because he will not be getting the tough love that would be necessary to make him a better player.
  22. Our big problem in the draft is recognizing and developing talent. Darian Stewart is yet another safety that has blossomed when he left the Ravens.
  23. New England got Brady in the 6th round if I remember correctly... we have trouble picking a quality WR in the 1st round.
  24. Flacco elite? Well if you surround him with a great defense, great running back, great receivers and a great offensive line he is good enough to win. What QB isn't? Can you say Dilfer?
