for the people worried about steve smith the ravens are very interested in him.

Don't think re-signing Jacoby Jones changes the Ravens plan for adding a slot-type WR or TE at all. They'll still draft or sign one.

Ravens remain quite interested in WR Julian Edelman. Pats want him back too. Other teams in the mix
also well as Alex Mack ravens Really want Alex Mack! no joke!
I guess that means no Edelman or Steve Smith? We still need a slot WR though... we can't stand pat at WR, we need to IMPROVE.
ravens still interested in steve smith. but proabably ends Julian Edleman talk
How can they still afford to keep paying people? Overpaying McAfee, overpaying Jackson, Big money for Davis, Arthur Jones possibly Decker, now this? You gotta be kidding me
yeah i don't see it either they can get de la puente at center and stop overpaying players.
NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports four teams have shown "varying levels" of interest in free agent C Alex Mack.
RapSheet mentions the Ravens and Colts as two of the teams interested in the 28-year-old. They're waiting for the "frenzy to die down" before making a run at Mack, who was slapped with the transition tag by the Browns. Indianapolis needs a center after releasing Samson Satele, while Baltimore needs an upgrade on Gino Gradkowski. Mack is arguably the best center in the NFL.

That would be FANTASTIC, but I imagine the Browns will match any offer made to Mack, unfortunately.
there is a chance to lure him away. by weird bonues and deal structures that the brown just be like um what the hell is this. and don't bother with it.

YES! the ravens are still in for ALEX MACK!
On Alex Mack? Yes. Ravens, too. RT @Steve_Cardenas: @RapSheet Are the Colts one of those teams?
So has Steve Smith been officially released yet..or what? I feel like this is taking a good while. Maybe they are still trying to field trade offers or something. Its going to be interesting when he does get cut to see if we are his first visit.
probably the ravens they are very close to the situation of steve smith proabably talking to him right now. and its the best place for him to go because he wants to stay close to home.
Steve Smith is almost 35. I'd assume he wants a championship, not money. Which is probably why he has interest here. The raiders certainly can't provide that. and getting back at the panthers by joining the bucs probably isn't in his mind either. what hard feelings does he have against them? Its not like the Welker situation last year.
that why they said the ravens make the most sense for him. and we do play carolina next year too. and i think it would be fun to watch steve smith and t sizzle jaw in practice. plus Bucs QB situation is up in the air and oakland is horrible so the ravens it is.
The Charlotte Observer reports Oakland and Tampa Bay will be potential landing spots if/when Steve Smith is released, in addition to Baltimore.
What's a more risky young combo, middle linebackers or safeties? It seems we are leaning towards using two guys with fewer than two years experience for at least one of these spots. Hopefully not both.
safeties! Mos Def Safeties there you last line of D.
Ravens would like to re-sign Daryl Smith but not at current asking price. Spikes, Woodyard other FA options. Perhaps Mosley in draft.
he's probably asing for that Karlos dansby deal 4 years 24 million . Not happening and I bet if he's there at 17 the ravens take Mosley to pair with art brown that would be a nice combo in the middle of the defense for years to come.

Ravens are expected to closely monitor the Steve Smith situation, according to sources

Should Steve Smith leave Carolina, expect the Ravens to be one of the top teams on his list, according to sources
I wouldn't even predict it to be someone that highly priced, in my opinion. I'm thinking more along the lines of a Sherrick McManis type of guy. Good ST player that is quality depth in the secondary as well. It's not a flashy move, but that's not how the Ravens operate.
Sherrick Mcmanis lol yeah
another guy how bout brice McCain who got released by the texans
I don't think we're looking at any high priced CB's. It's not enough of a need. If we lost out on Graham, we'll look for another cheap steal like how we got Graham in the first place. DRC, Munnerlyn, etc. prices aren't going to fall enough to where it makes sense for us to sign one. We need a 3rd CB. We need starters in a lot of other places.
with some one like Jabari Greer , Brandon Browner, Walter Thurmond some like that.
Daryl wants serious money, he deserves it honestly , he was Pro Bowl level last year but he won't get it from us.
if the market tells anything a right deal for daryl seems to be 3 or 4 year deal around 15-20 million which idk if the ravens pay that.
Aaron Wilson @RavensInsider 3 hrs
Ravens and Daryl Smith still have disconnect on asking price, according to sources
oh no one not this again lol.
Saints have hardly any money to spend, and they overspend on a safety.
Crazy.
how bout Brees O-line whoch they will lose 3 starters from Just stupid they have 3.2 million in cap how in the hell are they even going sign rookies and Byrd's deal. alot guys gonna get cut for no reason on that team. WELL OVERPAID for Byrd. no reason for that at all.
The Flacco deal isn't looking too bad with the salary cap increases, which just speaks volumes of Ozzie. Plus, Joe said he'd restructure and work to help the Ravens out. Brees took massive amounts of money and caused lots of cuts to clear the money for him, similar to what's happening with Graham
wow just realize we play New Orleans next year too. ugh!
FS market is now dried. Unless we convert a CB to S, we will be drafting one in the draft this year.
not really there is Chris Clemons, Thomas Decoud, kendrick lewis there are options but if the ravens need one they better move fast.
Jarius Byrd deal
6 years 60 million 28 Guranteed. WOW!
1. Re-signing Graham would free up cap space, not cost them it.
2. Byrd is interesting, because while a lot of the safeties are flying off the market, their prices are significantly lower than expected. Byrd was said to be seeking $10m per year, but frankly, its looking like maybe $7-8m per season may be a much more realistic option. He's certainly not getting top dollar from teams like New Orleans.
I didn't consider Byrd a realistic option, but if a week or two goes by and the market price comes down, the Ravens could conceivably be an option.
yeah if he stays on the market the next couple of days the ravens might get him at a bargin like they did with Monroe with a deal like 5 years 35 million 7 mill per which is realistic if he's on the market long.
