Good choice considering we only have one legit NFL WR on the roster in Mike Wallace. I could accept Perriman's mediocrity if he was a 4th or 5th round pick. Unacceptable for a #1 pick.

You will be having a different attitude about him after this year, give the kid some credit. He was injured his entire rookie year because our team was to stubborn to do his surgery earlier and when he was finally healthy last year and gaining confidence he showed he could be great WR for us. This year will be his breakout season with over 1000 yards and 10 TDs. He is the reason why we wont be drafting a WR in the 1st or 2nd round and be able to draft other needs instead.

I'm pulling for you to be right, 1000 yds and 10 TDs is a tall order. I am a UCF alumni, so immediately I am a huge Perriman fan and I will be as long as he is here. But this WR class has some guys in the first 2 rounds that would be great additions for us. I wouldn't want us to pick up John Ross round 1, but I'd love to get Williams or Davis. If we go after a guy in round 2 I say it's Zay Jones or bust.

Its very probable that all three of them will be gone.

If they could trade back would they pass on Foster ILB, Cook RB or Peppers S who look probably under #20
or Humphry CB who lines up at #16. In most mock drafts. Even McCaffrey RB or Howard TE might be in the discussion.

Well if Foster is available I think they salivate while writing his name and running to the podium with the card.... I truly believe they'll choose him over any other player available. Imagine our ILB corps at that point. Nobody will be better and will resemble Patrick Willis & Co.

It's not just the ILB corps if we get Foster, the entire middle of our defense will be full of studs. in goal line situations, an opposing offense would be looking at an elite DT in Brandon Williams, two top shelf linebackers in Mosley and Foster, and two hard hitting safeties in Weddle and Jefferson. That's not even mentioning our depth at the DT position, with Pierce, Jernigan, and a hopefully resurgent Carl Davis.

So... How good is this Corey Davis?

Based off tape, which is all we'll get from him and is skewed in his favor since he played at Western Michigan against Mike Williams playing in the ACC, he looks really really good. My personal favorite of the top 3 guys, and the fact he isn't working out for teams before the draft could work out in our favor. I'm banging the Reuben Foster drum right now, but if we went WR round 1 he'd be my guy.

  4. guys... I think there might be a chance Reuben Foster falls to us. I've started watching tape on the top 50 guys, this man is a bad dude who is gonna be an absolute stud for whoever picks him up. Him next to CJ with Brandon/Timmy/Pierce in the middle and our big hitting safeties coming down off the edge. Tavon and Jimmy would be just fine as our starting CBs with that much pressure. If Kaufusi, KC, or Judon can show up and play, man that defense would be fierce.

  5. Well that sucks. I didn't even know he was a free agent! So the Ravens have lost their two best defensive players from last year, Guy and Orr. Also easy to type their names. By the way, who the heck considers Kaufusi, a "rising sophomore." I guess the only way you can go from the bottom is up.

"Their two best defensive players." No disrespect to either of those guys, but calm down buddy.

With the pick at #16 it seems that the Ravens will go CB or Edge rusher and there seems to be 2-3 at each position that cold warrant the pick there. The one wild card is RB - Dalvin Cook. Is he the playmaker, the Ravens need to add to the offense? It seems that if we don't go CB in 1st there should be a very good one in 2nd round. Even if we sign Claiborne, I can't see the Rravens not getting a CB in either the 1st or 2nd or 3rd round. Also since we only have 8 picks , I can see Ozzie trading back a few spots 17-22 range in order to get another pick or 2. With 4 picks in first 99 drafted the Ravens need to get 3 solid starters out of those picks. Hopefully one becomes All-pro. Though it may take a few weeks I see the Ravens adding a veteran OL and ILB to fill out those twos positions. Not sure who we add to our WR group. Anyone have any thoughts?

Round 1. Takkirst McKinney- OLB UCLA
    or Solomon Thomas- OLB- Stanford
Round 2. De De Westbrook- WR- Okla
Round 3. Fabian Moreau- CB- UCLA
    Round 3. Zach Barner- T /G - USC
Round 4. Devonte Fields - OLB Louisville
Round 5. Robert Davis - WR- Ga State
or KD Cannon - WR - Baylor
Round 6. Kareem Are- G- FSU

Provided we land Claiborne if not then we go after TreDavious White -CB LSU in the 2nd round and Ju Ju Smith- Schuster- WR - USC in the 3rd

dude if solomon thomas was still on the board at 16, our draft decision would take all of 15 seconds. I feel like there is almost no chance

  7. Already stoked about the 1-2 punch of Weddle and Jefferson, both these guys excel at the line of scrimmage and certainly aren't too shabby in coverage. I can't imagine the nightmares opposing OCs are gonna have trying to figure out their protection schemes with that kind of versatility on the back end. To me it seems an obvious fit that Alex Lewis will take over the RT spot, possibly Ducasse playing guard. I'd like to go after an upgrade at center now, but the biggest thing on my wish list is that whoever we go after in the 1st round, he becomes somebody whose jersey is seen all over M&T Bank Stadium. I don't care what position he plays.

  8. Joe's contract has always been a sore spot to SOME fans , but not me, do I wish it could have been a smaller number, for cap reasons yes, but Joe is better than what any other QB we could get at this point, Those who think Joe is not the answer, look at- Philly, Washington, Minnesota, Chicago, San Fran, Rams, Arizona, Miami, Buffalo, Jets, Jax, Houston, Cleveland, Bengals, Denver, KC, San Diego.. Now tell me do you really want to get rid of Joe? I would like to Draft a QB, but this team needs a lot of youth in other areas first.

Come ask me to compare Joe to all those other teams QBs this time next year. Another season of sub-mediocrity and I'm selling my Flacco jersey. As of right now... I'd take Tannehill, Dalton, Alex Smith, or Philip Rivers. I'm even tempted to look at young guys like Wentz, and I'm also a huge UCF homer... so maybe Blake Bortles can turn it around?

Is the Bengal's Cedric Perrman the same one we drafted in the 6th round in 2009?

Yes, he has 70 carries for 349 yards, 5 yard per carry average in his NFL Career, not bad.

I'd take an 8 year NFL career which only required 70 in-game carries from me to continue making a minimum of 500k per year. I don't care how grueling the practices are, that's a sweet gig.

  10. I think there's a real chance that either Cook or Mike Williams are on the board at 16, depending on how the QB needy teams pick ahead of us. But even if we don't land those two, we could still get one of the top 3 CBs, a top 2 safety, or a premier edge rusher. Even if all that fails, we'll be looking at a top offensive lineman (like that kid Lamp out of WKU) and I haven't even said anything about Fournette, McCaffrey, the two big name TEs in this draft. There is no reason our 1st round pick this year can't be a day 1, season long starter and immediate roster upgrade.

Serious Question, how do you guys determine who's a BUST OR NOT? talking Correia... how are you guys judging him already? we haven't even seen him play on D yet.... some 2nd rounders played this year and made a mockery of the team that chose them and a fool of themselves.(Dodd(titans)---Jaylen Smmith (cowboys)--- myles jack(jags)--- list goes on and on...
give the guy a chance.. we have NO CLUE what hes capable of...he will be just fine..

The book has seemingly been written on Breshad Perriman as well, the good news is that the FO doesn't listen to media hype. I say give a guy his rookie contract before deciding he's a bust, which is what we just finished doing with Matt Elam.

The Chiefs have all the fun with a guy the likes of Tyreek Hill with all the sea of character concerns - and I don't see the public image of the Chiefs fall a notch - and we're still at the "don't expext the Ravens to draft this or that guy because he did something wrong ONCE." Maybe that's part of the explanation why we have become a regular feature of the "look who's missed the playoff" game while teams like the Chiefs are in...

As for Mixon, there were multiple reports that he's well liked by staff members, players, coaches - and basically everybody, and did what he did ONCE. That doesn't make it OK of course - but I do think the public image ramifications of selecting players with such cases have been way overblown in Baltimore. I can understand that the Rice case caused some shellshock - but it would be high time to leave it behind... You won't win many games in the NFL with a team of gentlemen.

There could not be a worse team to pickup the running back who has a public video of him assaulting a woman than the Baltimore Ravens. Mixon will never suit up in purple and black.

And what evidence is there that he can replace that production?

Tackling is not an attribute. Its a minimal requirement. Average linebackers can tackle. We could upgrade on Jackson in the 4th round of literally any NFL draft.

Not every guy that gets cut should sign with this team. Jackson will be one of just several veteran or even young MLBs who will be available in FA. Lets pump the brakes hard on signing every player that gets cut.

His stats speak for themselves, tackling is an attribute when you are the leading tackler on your team for both the seasons he played all 16 games in for the Colts. Even if you don't want to say it's a direct attribute, a high number of tackles speaks to a lot of other key attributes for a player like game speed, awareness, play recognition, strength, etc. I'm not here to advocate every cut player is one that we sign, but I am always in favor of solidifying positions before the draft. If we can snag a plug and play starter and have it not effect our compensatory pick status in 2018, it is nothing but a positive in my mind.

    1. We've got about a half dozen guys on defense who fit the mold of "veteran presence with strong leadership" already. How does adding another make our team better? Who's he going to lead if there's nobody to learn from him? Heck, the guy he would play directly next to, CJ Mosley, is exactly that veteran presence with strong leadership you're referring to.

    2. The goal every year isn't to make the playoffs... the goal is to win a SB. Jackson is the kind of player a young team adds that helps get them to the playoffs. Jackson isn't the kind of player an old team adds to get them to the SB. There's a big difference there.

    3. Most importantly, I'm still waiting for somebody to tell me what specific on-field attributes he brings to the table. Again, don't really see the purpose of the cute "veteran leadership" label. On this team, he wouldn't be close to a leader of the pack... he would just be one of the pack.

The focus of this offseason should be on one thing... getting good football players. Teams that win championships have good football players. That's kind of the idea.

We need speed, we need energy, and we need diversity on defense. At inside linebacker, we need coverage skills.

Does that sound like Jackson to you?

Point #2 really resounded with me, and it sounds right. But I think Jackson has a lot to offer our team, especially considering that he would play opposite CJ. Jackson has consistently been one of the top tacklers in the league and clearly plays with enough energy to always be around the football. 10 year vets who get cut always play with a chip on their shoulder the next year, and the Ravens have frequently benefited from players in exactly that position. The reason we liked Zach so much is because he flew around the field and made a lot of tackles. If we think we can replace that production, why not bring him in? Wasn't Daryl Smith an 11 year vet when he signed with us? I'd take a do-over of that in a heartbeat.

Yes, but its pretty hard to sell him being the "right player". Doesn't fit the mold of anything we're looking for.

A veteran presence with strong leadership ability always fits into a Ravens D. We just lost our young and fast guy, Zach Orr, and the word on the street is that McClellan will move back inside if necessary. D'Qwell is a much better player than that, even if it turns out like a Daryl Smith situation where he comes in for a few years, balls out, and moves on. Honestly, if the goal every year is to get to the playoffs, why wouldn't we want someone who can help us do that, even if it is only for a year or two? This isn't a team that needs to be totally rebuilt from the ground up, it is a team that needs a few plug and play starters to get over the hump. D'Qwell Jackson fits that mold.

  16. Dalvin Cook from FSU or Jabrill Peppers from Michigan would be my favorite two guys for us to select. These guys are game breakers, guys that coordinators can get creative with and can just be an X-factor on their respective sides of the ball. I get that safety and running back aren't necessarily our primary needs, but they will make big plays for whatever team drafts them and be guys other teams are worried about when they play against them. Why not go get a guy like that instead of another "perfect" role player?
