  1. we should have extended him not tried to take 2M out of his pocket. He's not old he is experienced and reliable. Megatron doesn't have the best hands. He is just 8 feet tall and can go up and catch every jump ball thrown his way.
  2. Without Boldin we don't win the Super Bowl. Also it wasn't a 9M cap hit. It was around 7M. WR are not a dime a dozen. Our passing game was piss poor when we had Mason and no one else, and it was even worse before that. Ravens are terrible at getting WR's. Till the last 5 years our passing game was pathetic. Torrey Smith is the only legit WR we've drafted in 17 years. Joe is not shredding anyone if his WR's don't catch the ball. Defense can find a way to cover Torrey Pitta and Jacoby, without another option our passing game and running game will suffer. Outside of Torrey we have no other WR's. And it is naive to say we can just find someone else to replace him in the draft or free agency. If we can't grab Jennings for a bargain our passing game won't be nearly as good
  3. Boldin has over 100 more receptions than any other WR and is our most dependable receiver. He isn't the fastest, but our only WR that can consistently catch the ball when covered or catch in Traffic. Now Torrey will just be double teamed all day long
  4. are you for real?! ARE YOU FOR REAL! This man was our best WR. His stats alone back that up not to mention all his intangibles. Probably the best hands in the NFL. He deserved every penny of 6M. Out of all the players that didn't deserve a paycutt this year Boldin was number 1. Yeah we just own a SB and I want to win another one. You know what happens to other teams that win the SB, besides the Cheatriots? They have a hangover next year. Many don't even make the playoffs the next year like the Giants and the Steelers. Boldin had a good 3 years of play left. How are we going to stay competitive in the passing game? They will double team Torrey and Jacoby isn't a true number two. We need more than Pitta, Jacoby and Torrey.
  5. but we won't win the big game next year. The only one that matters. The SB!
  6. Bengals just became the best team in the AFC North
  7. even the other Ravens players know it http://www.csnbaltim...ed-boldin-trade
  8. we already had two starting WRs that comanded double teams now we only have Torrey. We just lost our best WR and our receiving corps will never be the same
  9. Now we have to keep Leach cause we will be running the ball........... a lot!
  10. He has a never injury by his neck man, but he soldiers through it. He had some big plays this year. Stopped Kaepernick from scrambling on 3 occasions. in the SB. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cn8tTDiK878 don't doubt ed reed. He's offense on defense
  11. [profanity deleted] [profanity deleted] [profanity deleted] [profanity deleted]. Now we have to draft a WR. This is terrible news. We couldn't even get a 4th round pick. This is the worst news. EDIT: my bad didn't no we couldn't use the s word
  12. quoted for truth
  13. Caldwell isn't getting hired that fast. You know how many black head coaches were hired this year 0. Andy Reid was out of work for all of 5 minutes. And Lovie Smith couldn't even land a DC job. Jim Caldwell certainly deserves another HC job, but don't think teams will be lining up to claim him
  14. we aren't talking about any other player. This isn't Jarret Johnson or Wes Welker or a Greg Jennings or Charles Woodson. This is Ed mother@#@# Reed! Without him our secondary would be in shambles. He is a franchise player and someone who should never play for another team. Obviously the Ravens don't have to keep him but if they want to have a chance to compete in this league, you have to keep the foundation player while they are still playing at a high level. I'm not ready to blow up the team and go into rebuilding mode. If we had another viable WR than you can talk about releasing Boldin but we don't. The players I'm talking about aren't asking for much and are worth what they would be getting.
  15. blasphemy. The man can still run. Had some big plays in the play offs. And still effects the pass and the run game. Yeah he hasn't been the best tackler since the nerve injury, but he still hits hard and is a top 5 Safety. He's got at least 3 good years left. If you let Reed go we will be out of SB contention for the next 2 years at least. We don't have anyone that can fill his shoes on our roster and there are no quality safety free agents out there either.
  16. we had shut them down before the blackout. The only reason they were in the game was because of the blackout. Also look at all the injuries we had. Ngata, Ellerbe, Jameel, Ray Lewis, Webb, Jimmy Smith I could go on. We battled this year. Our red zone defense was among the best in the league. And we capitalized off of turn overs. We shut Tom Brady out in the second half of the AFC championship game. Held Peyton Manning to 21 points in the playoffs.. Some games we weren't great. But for the most part we held our ground. We should have been 12-4 this season. But they officials robbed us in the Eagles and Redskins games. This is an offensive league now. The NFL is scared about lawsuits so they throw a flag on every big hit. We will never see the 2000 ravens defense again, because the officials will not allow it. Ed Reed is the greatest safety in NFL history and still plays at a high levels and his presence alone changes offensive gameplans. He is worth every penny. Without him our secondary wouldn't be nearly as good. I've seen our young guys and they need some more time
  17. looks good but you forgot Ed Reed As much as people malign our defense they still showed up despite the inconsistant officiating our defense is as much to thank for this SB as our offense is. You need a complete team to win in this league http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OwyEUuRC2lk
  18. Defensive MVP of the post season maybe. I'd say it was more of a team effort myself. But regular season no I can't see it. We should try to keep Ellerbe but not break the bank doing it. over $20M is pushing it if your look at his body of work. We really wouldn't be in the worst shape if Ellerbe let. I want to keep him, but with Jameele coming back and other young LBs on our teamnot to mention the draft we have options. Ellerbe is not the be all end all. If the Ravens are good at one thing its finding and developing LBs. WR is the area we struggle in. It took us a long time to get a quality WR corps. And Anquan Boldin is our best receiver He may not be the fastest but he is the best.
  19. sure cause he didn't really fight back for it. But don't tell me it wasn't intended for Dos. And Boldin saw it and just went beast mode and came down with the jump ball
  20. If you ignore the ball that was debatably thrown away and the one Anquan caught but was clearly meant for Doss than sure
  21. The men I've mentioned and gave a rough evaluation on have played during the regular season
  22. those are the casual fans. I don't put any stock in pre-season. I judge what players do during the regular season. Doss was targeted 5 times against Indianapolis. Couldn't handle any of the balls. Two passes should have been touchdowns. Laquan has a good vertical and potentially good hands but overall I need to see more. I thought David Reed would be better he was a good return guy one season. His hands and route running are a little suspect, but he's got speed. Torrey proved himself in his rookie year. Runs hard and has deep threat speed. His hands weren't great but he's improved in that area this year
  23. I agree with you. I've been saying all week as much as I love Jacoby he is a #3 receiver and a special teams stud
  24. Boldin's got a good 3 years left. He's only 32. I like Ellerbe but we shouldn't break the bank on him. Lets be realistic. We should try and keep Ellerbe, but if he's looking for 30M thats a little too rich and its not impossible for us to fill in at MLB. We always do well at LB we just find guys and develop them right and left. So as long as we get a NT we should be solid. Jameel's coming back. Ellerbe should stay. No one wants to go to the Browns if they care about winning games. Also we've got some up and coming LBs. Josh Bynes and some players in the draft. So as much as I'd like to keep Ellerbe losing him isn't the end of the world if he wants to break the bank with his contract.
  25. Doss isn't as big or physical as Anquan and doesn't have his hands. Sure Q isn't burning people but he is still our most relaible WR. Yeah Torrey's become a great WR, but if we lose Q it's just Torrey. I love Jacoby. Love the man, but he is a #3 WR. He isn't a number 2. The man is phenomenal on special teams. Has okay hands but not great. Isn't good at catching the ball in traffic, primarily a speed guy who can put a move on you out in space. Your not going to tell me that Laquan, David Reed or Doss will step up and replace Boldin. That is not happening. Haven't really seen Streeter at all this year, but I doubt he can fill those shoes either. We need more than Jacoby, Torrey and Pitta if we want to make a deep playoff run
