  1. I want to say how much I like Carter. I really think he's going to prove me right and make this team.

Still a long way off, obviously but I think it depends a little on Campanaro's health. I really don't trust that Campanaro can stay healthy but I have a sense that the Ravens love him(Campanaro) and are willing to be patient.

If Campanaro is unhealthy, I think Carter makes it.

So many good receivers....not wishing an injury but it makes me wonder how some of these young receivers(hardy/butler/Waller,etc.) might be stashed for next year.

  2. This is flat out laughable imo. But it's your opinion so if you wouldn't mind, could you please provide me examples of the bolded statement. I'm starting to see a few fans knock Brown and claim he can't get separation, he doesn't beat man to man coverage, he sucked last season. However i've never once seen anyone provide anythig of substances or even resembling a fact to support these claims. Can you please tell me how you've come to this conclusion of Brown because the games i've watched suggest that the people who are putting Brown down, just didn't watch much of him last year. They only saw the last of TDs and catches compared to his rookie year and determined that he had to have a poor season. Any actual cases you can point to, to prove what you said about Brown?

By an example what i mean is something along the lines of this. The NFL Network showed a replay of the Ravens vs Chargers game from week 14 today.  Marlon Brown had 3 catches in that game before leaving early in the 2nd quarter with a concussion. His 3 catches all came vs man coverage, which he gained separation from his defender. The first catch was a 1 handed grab on a ball thrown behind him, the second catch was on a strong comeback route and the 3rd was on a jumpball that resulted in the concussion. In fact I can't remember one time Marlon Brown didn't win when called upon.

I'd say Marlon Brown is a question mark, but I wouldn't call him a weakness at all.

Marlon brown has worked hard to be a good special teams player and has become a very good blocker.

He has shown, if nothing else as a receiver that he will catch the ball. He knows how to get directly up field after the catch, and I like him in the clutch. In short, he is a good football player and I don't get the bashing.

  3. What remains to be seen is if we continue to be an offense that runs the football. I think the fear is that we go pass happy and the suspicion is that Trestman, for all his expertise, will not be the situational play caller that Kubiak is.

I think the variable(s) that suggest something will be different are Castillo and Harbaugh. Those guys know how we ran the football and how we need to run it to win.

  4. Well... not necessarily. The steelers-fan is true, as he admitted to it many times (yeah, nobody's perfect :D) But, he picked the Ravens to win the super bowl before the season began, multiple years he last 5-6 seasons, for example...

I think it's not the Ravens he doesn't believe in, only Flacco. Also, his firm conviction seems to be is that Roethlisberger belongs in the top-3 in the NFL.

Otherwise he's pretty good usually  :)

I would agree with him about roethlisberger.

From bashing and belittling pitta repeatedly to smarmy comments toward Suggs on national tv; I stand by my previous statement. He will go out of his way.

  5. Feeling vindicated for getting neg last week for criticizing Eugene Monroe. Apparently I am not alone in my opinion. Looks like the Ravens are disappointed in his play so far according to RSR. PFF has Monroe rated the 64th LT in the league and the 13th highest paid player on the payroll for Ravens. Hello.........

I don't think there is a question that he has under-performed. For some reason you get blasted for pointing that out.

The stats don't support it perhaps but I see him as merely adequate to this point. It would be nice to have a rock at LT for sure.....easier to talk about finding than to actually find.

  6. I think we've been in a situation the last few years (and continue to be) where if Joe goes down, our season goes down with him.  Schaub isn't even a capable backup, but Tyrod wanted to leave so there was no possibility of keeping him unless we wanted to overpay.

Ideally the back up could at least come in and keep the team in contention for 2-4 games. I think ours is a liability.

Teams will sell out to stop the run, and wait for Schaub to throw it to them.

  7. I hate all of the reports I'm seeing on Schaub.  It seems like it's INT after INT for him based on the reports I've seen.  I get that he's just a backup, but man, that's rough if true.  $2M isn't some drop in the bucket.

I feel the same. I was dubious when we signed him. Has looked awful in actual games of late.

  8. Is there any one who thinks Ike Taylor is entertaining, insightful, humorous or even articulate?

I find him annoying. And the fact that for some reason he is being treated as a sort of elder statesman whose opinions are apparently elevated and validated by the NFL network is more so.

  9. There are a few teams that can pull it off and acutally run it but i don't think anyone uses it as a base set or even uses it enough to even have a large impact on the game. Most teams use it as jumbo packages and in run heavy short yardage situations.

However i think we will see this offense look a lot like the Pats a few year back when they had that killer duo of Gronk and AH, ok that wasn't funny. But my point is we have a ton of talent at the TE position and a guy like Juice, we'll be able to run some sets that really force teams to say in that base defense while we s attack their LBs ans Safeties. I could see that 2TE set really being a staple of the offense and if all 4TEs still healty and can contribute, it's gonna be fun watching this group work.

With 4 solid to very good TEs, a swiss army knife at HB, and WRs who can work every level of the field Flacco and Trestman will have a ball with this offense. Defenses will be losing sleep over game planning for this offense if everything comes together.

    Imagine the possibilities from the five yard line in;

Having Crockett and Boyle in line with Maxx as an h-back(lined up there regularly at Minnesota ),....Forsett in the backfield and Waller out wide.....pretty daunting task for any defense.

  10. Brown is pretty abysmal on ST.  He almost gave up Two blocked punts himself.  That being said if Daryl Smith or CJ mosley couldn't suit up a game I'm fairly confident that Brown would oddly be above Orr or McClellan on defensive snaps.

But Smith and Mosley never come off the field, and Daryl isn't going to be playing STs at his age.

I agree. Dressing Orr over brown essentially means the team Is willing to risk being somewhat at a disadvantage for that day if there was an injury, rather than being at a disadvantage all game on special teams.

I think you see Brown starting the following week in such a case but agree with you that he will deactivated until he improves special teams play.

  11. It may only be practice but something about the Flacco to Perriman connection just seems so right. The way BP plucks the ball out of the air was something we rarely saw from Torrey even in practice. Not to turn this into a Torrey bashing post because I'll always be a fan of his and have a lot of respect for him but you can just see how much more naturally the position comes to BP. Torrey was a good athlete (former basketball player) who's best fit just happened to be at WR. Perriman is a true WR, he has the genetics, he has the build, he has the skill set.

I'm glad his drops got over analyzed and exaggerated during the draft process or else he wouldn't be a Raven.. similar to Demaryius or Dez I think in hindsight people will look at this draft and say "How the heck did Perriman fall that far?". Our front office isn't crazy about taking WR's in the 1st, the fact that Ozzie & co. jumped all over Breshad when he made it to us speaks volumes about the type of player he is. It's been a long time coming for Flacco to finally have a WR like this.

Yes. I think in some ways Torrey may have over achieved as opposed to the popular notion that he never quite developed.

Perriman appears much more natural catching the ball, using his hands away from his body as routine. He will offer a lot in the way of being diverse in his routes.

  12. Got me thinking... Really didn't see any news on A Brown. Would love to see him bulk up and maintain the speed he has but as others have said...I think it's more about learning (imo) and being stuck behind one hell of a mlb duo

It stings a little to see a guy that talented in street clothes on Sunday. I still really like the guy but I think you're right. Unless there is an injury, or until he is able to show more on special teams than say,Zachary Orr, I don't see him dressing.

  13. Well I guess I didn't read that closely, but after going back and checking I still think it's debatable. We lost to the Packers in 2013 and I think the Chargers were a good team last year. We also beat the Texans at home in 2013, and that was before they sucked.

I think your opinion is debatable. I just strongly disagree. I think we beat the Seahawks. The only way I see them beating us is if we have key injuries to critical players

Even given that context, I think the Seahawks are nowhere near as deep a team and could be derailed in a hurry by injury.
