Myth: Ozzie Newsome can't draft good receivers

Reality: Although Newsome has missed on some of the receivers he's drafted, so has every other GM in the league. Don't forget that the Lions drafted Roy Williams, Charles Rogers and Mike Williams in the first round before they hit on Calvin Johnson. Sheer volume helps your odds, but other teams also tend to give their young players more playing time and thus have developed their young talent.

  2. MYTH: Boldin carried the Ravens to a SB win.

FACT: Boldin played a strong role in the SB run and was one of several contributors in key moments during the run. If any one group had the largest impact it was the O-line which gave an unusually high amount of protection.

  3. Hes not consistent which is why the Texans dumped him as the #2 however he has proven that his 1 or 2 plays per game can change the game which is the X factor SB teams need. He might do nothing all game then boom 80 yard catch or boom 40-50 yard return to set up a short field for the offense. We need to keep him but also develop other weapons.

  4. I doubt if Ed is playing for the money, I feel he is one of those Ray Lewis clone type of guys and he plays b/c the fire is still burning in him, the passion for the game. Ed still feels he has something in the tank and it cracks me up when people say he should have retired with Ray, for what? Ray came into the league like 7 years before him or something like that and it would be insane for Ed to retire at the same time Ray did considering that. One thing about the Free safety position, you have guys like Woodson ( both ), Sharper just to name a few that played well past their primes and were still effective.

If anyone knows how to utilize Ed, it will be Rex. He wont ask him to play a lot of man or ask him to come up in the box to stuff the run every other play, he will let him do what he does best and that's play centerfield which in turn will make his scheme even better anytime you can play Cover 1 taking away the middle of the field. I feel Ed will make a great impact with the Jets.

If he wasn't playing for the money he would of taken what the Ravens offered instead of the larger amount the Texans paid for. IMO

  5. What do Raven's fans think is Ed Reed's motivation for continuing to play? Actually, the Jets are probably a good fit for him. I wish him success. For me, he is one of those guys that has been around long enough had so much success that you tip your hat to him even if he did play for your hated rival. Good luck, Ed.

  6. Surely someone can give us the stats to prove the secondary would be better with a 35yr old safety with an injured hip and neck which has reduced his speed on the field. Reed is one of my favorite all time Ravens but a starter he is no longer.

  7. I would use Ed Reed in limited packages, situations where I know a deep ball needs to be thrown. Like a hail mary for instance. Still though our current safeties need all the experience they can get and removing them from the game just to put Reed in will hurt them. I wonder if he could coach up a secondary, I don't see why we couldn't do that if he was able to do that job.

  8. Why does everyone think Ed Reed will be effective when his play has shown that is will not be? His hip and neck injuries have shown it will not be at all. If he was healthy maybe but hes not at all. Why would you rotate in an injured 35yr old player who is having trouble tackling and shifting his hips in coverage?
