  1. Our OC has been trying it this year.  This is by far a career low in terms of yards in the air per attempt for Flacco.  The problem is that for some reason the play designs and/or execution just isn't working on that short and backfield passing stuff.  The receiving aren't getting yards after the catch.  I think it's because our receivers are all below average not only in the obvious category of receiving, but in the less visible (on the stat sheet) category of blocking.  The screens, backfield, and short to intermediate stuff relies pretty heavily on receivers & tight ends executing picks and blocks and helping the one who gets the ball make something happen after the ball is in their hands.  It also requires that whoever gets the ball be fast and shifty and tough and able to avoid tackles.  We don't really have that either.  Some of these guys are occasionally showing flashes of ability in some of those categories, but overall our personnel just isn't good enough to *consistently* execute those kinds of plays with a high rate of success and get yards after the catch.  It also doesn't help that both for some reason our guys seem to get butter fingers on those short routes.  Aiken and Brown have both had a large number of drops this season on those plays.  Trestman is REALLY trying to call those plays often, but the players are completely failing to execute them and actually get yards on them.

    I can agree with that

  2. I disagree. I saw what brady did without gronk and please don't tell me that edleman or amendola would be world beaters playing for us.

Brady's offense is dink and dunk king. Edleman basically only catches 10 yard passes the entire game (Was the same with Wes Welker) and those how its been with Bradys TE's and RBs. Ravens could do that if their OC would try it. Comparing Flacco to Brady is unfair IMO as Brady is obviously a hands down HOF QB although I'd argue he'd be less effective on a crappy team with no kind of offensive coordinator.

  3. Its just an emotional overreaction by certain fans, nothing more.

They're trying to get back to the "good old days" when we played "smash mouth" defense and we laid bone crushing hits on our opponents, despite that brand of football being largely non existent in the NFL these days and it certainly not fitting the mold of the personnel we have right now.

The people who want Ray as DC just want a motivator/cheerleader... they don't really want a coach. There's a difference between the two.

Huge difference, Ray Lewis said himself that he wanted to spend more time with his family and that being a coach would put him back in the same boat he was as a player and thats away from his family.

  4. Probably true, but it shouldn't be.

He is a warrior no question but the guy has had his bell rung more than a few times.  He wont grow old gracefully.

Because nobody is going to care down the line when he crippled due to his constant injuries he should consider retirement in a few. He is not going to be like Brady and play to 40, he takes too many hits. There is no incentive for these players to ruin their body over a game.

  5. It would be insane if the Ravens made it to the playoffs after such a dispointing and heartbreaking start. It looks impossible, but still possible.

I would cut my high-top fade that is like 6 inches high off we made it.

Even if they did I think it won't be because the defense got too much better and in the end they'd lose in the first round to a team with a good offense. Would be very exciting thought.

  6. Over the last 5 years?....You really think so?

    Come on man.

Offense wise the Bengals outdraft the Ravens for sure but a great team isn't a great team until it wins something. Marvin Lewis has 0 playoff wins with a team that pound for pound has been better than the Ravens for years. If he can't win a playoff game this season with a stacked team, he should be fired. This Bengals team is more talanted than the last Ravens SB team. If they go one and done I will be checking Jungle Noise to see their reaction.

  7. Hmm... One can only wish we had guys who could separate and catch!

We seen what he can do with real weapons, hang with almost any QB in the league in big games. Flacco is a guy if given the right pieces, can make things happen. He is not a top 5 HOF QB, but you don't need to be to win any game in the NFL. Not even a SB.

  8. Theres no blocking anywhere in San Diego....its amazing Rivers is putting up the yards that he is.

Good thing you used the word "generally" because Pernell McPhee is tearing it up for the Bears. A monster.

Well its not something that exists with 100% certainty, most of the time players who leave simply do not play well but exceptions do exist. I loved Paul Krugers energy when he was with the Ravens. He's only had 1/3 good seasons with the Browns though. I'll always wonder what he might have done for the Ravens.

  9. If the Ravens brought Jacoby back, I would be elated.  Anything that would bring something positive to the fan base and energize them, would carry over the to players and that in no way is a negative in any sense. At this point in our season, with a lot of home games coming up, anything that energizes, pushes and motivates is welcome imho.  Harbs even spoke to that fact in a recent presser.

Jacoby would be an added option to stretch the field, and that would help the short passing game and the run game on the offensive side.

A returner is only as good as the unit blocking for him.  We have a pretty good special teams unit at this point, and I would love to see what Jacoby could do behind Mostert and a couple of others blocking for him. You best believe if Jacoby was back there on game days, teams would be game planning for him.

That would last about as long until he fumbled a punt return or dropped an easy third down pass IMO
