Greg Jennings just doesn't make that much sense...hes 31 and on decline. Last time he hit 1,000 yards was in 2010. Waste of cap space when we could grab Jaelen Strong for around a mil and get more production. marlon brown and Kamar Aiken and Camp all able to do as much as Jennings could
Not pounding the table for him, but the idea that he's done because of poor numbers in Minnesota may not be true - look at SSS, when we signed him last year half the board said we'd just signed a washed up 35 year old who was a waste of a roster spot. Sometimes just going to a better QB and having a starter across from you who is respected by defenses can make a major difference.
@Ravenslifer i agree completely, but declining isn't the only reason I don't see the Ravens getting him. I stated them previously.
Jeremy Butler supposed to be a strong step up this season.
had a nightmare last night that we traded Terrell Suggs to the Falcons. woke up in horror checked to see if it was true...thank God it was just a dream
could be worse, we could have traded him to the Steelers
I keep having this vision of us acquiring Muhammad Wilkerson from the Jets lol.
That would be great JO
Hopefully we won't have to trade up to get Jaelen Strong, but if it comes to that, i think we should pull the trigger on it
devin smith is certainly worth a late first or early 2nd, i have soured a bit on him but if he is coached up properly and refines his game, he actually has the potential to be the best wr from this class, nobody else in this class can make the spectacular catch like smith can, and it is a very coveted trait. his small body of work is concerning though
devin smith would simply be a role player on the ravens we need to get a franchise WR. sure he led the nation in yards/reception but thats not all that matters in the NFL, no way. YAC is crucial. Route running is crucial. Getting separation is crucial. And yeah his small body cannot get that separation nor can he get more yards after contact than Strong or any other bigger receiver. Smith didn't even run the 40 in the time everyone expected him to run it.
I just see him sliding down draft boards because he didn't produce much last year, he didn't even break 1000 yards. its kind of disrespectful considering him a 1st-2nd rd pick when other players who produced more last year are considered day 2 and 3 picks.
Hypothetically, if the Ravens do get a low draft pick and end the season under .500 do we go into rebuilding? or continue to try to plug in pieces of our puzzle.
And a new FS and edge rusher. We can take care of those things in one offseason in my opinion.
well i definitely think we need a FS if our young guys can't break out of their potential, with secondary it takes time. I also think Flacco needs weapons if he wants to be successful. I always hate on Flacco but thats mainly because the receivers we have other than Steve Smith are not the types of receivers that make QB's look good. Those receivers are Anquan Boldin, Torrey Smith, Derrick Mason, even players like Josh Gordon or Brandon Marshall make QB's look good because of the...
in my judgement we have been rebuilding since we won the sb. The pieces are just all not in place.
I definitely think Ravens should draft a QB early at least have him learn from Flacco so that he won't make Flacco's mistakes lol
While that's true Bmore, you'll also have answers to those assumptions prior to the draft, so it won't be an unknown by then.
Trust me, I wouldn't be jumping up and down and I'd probably feel the same way that I did about the Mosley pick- I understand the pick, great player, just not who I wanted.
I mean maybe not early but definitely in the mid rounds they could snag a small school QB with talent and potential but it would definitely make sense because next year flacco is getting paid way too much for his performance this year.
I don't get how Torrey or Forsett have been resigned yet
money...
Simple... they probably want more than they are worth... particularly Forsett.
Forsett can't be re-signed until FA begins due to him signing a veteran minimum contract with the Ravens last season.
I just wanna squash the whole TJ Yeldon to the Ravens scenario. He peaked his junior year. He has no more room for developing.
Unfortunately, you lack the credentials to squash anything...
agreed hn68wb4 ... must.. not.. take.. the bait!
@rmcjacket23 I actually do. If TJ Yeldon is a quality start. By quality I mean getting over 1200 yards within his first 3 seasons. I will personally give you my address and you can come slap me in the face. If he is not, then you change your username to "Iwaswrong23" deal?
I know DB is a huge need right now but with a top 5 pick I would take either Bosa or Nkemdiche. Mainly because I think Karl Joseph is a shut down DB. He's everywhere around the ball. One hell of an athlete. We could get him in the 2nd.
I just hope Doctson can fall to us somehow
If the draft were today and Jared Goff fell to us, I'd want to trade with the Sailboats at #8 or Norleans for #9 - try to get a 2017 1st and 2016 4th or something. One of the DBs should be there at that 8 or 9 and we'd do ourselves a nice favour for next year.
if we trade back we still gain alot like a 3rd rounder
I see Ravens grabbing veteran Safety starting March 10. Rookie can't transition that quickly to the pros.
Wow, really @juanman7 ... thats a shocker, didn't think that was possible.
@juanman7 no way they will get McCourty, way too much money. You gotta remember that the Ravens are a defensive team, and will be for years to come, they will not draft 4 offensive players in the first four, thats just not going to happen, they will definitely draft a CB in the first 3 to replace Webb because his body is just breaking down slowly. He can't stay healthy.
@pechillo, having thought about it, I agree they won't spend big money to sign McCourty because there's always the risk that he won't play up to that contract that another team will definitely give him. However, I do think we could go heavy on offense this year, because like I said and people agree with this, this team cannot rely on rookies in the secondary. This is a weak safety class on top of this. So though they might get a cornerback in the first 3 rounds, I think every othe...
i wouldn't mind a low draft pick...with the pick we should get either Ziggy, Jared Goff, or Vernon Hargreaves
lol we won the super bowl three seasons ago because of our awesome defense and because flaccos weapons made him look really good.
lmbo Seriously. Our defense was ranked 18th. They blew a 28-6 lead in the SB and nearly lost! And those weapons? Two of them just made Kap look so good he's sitting on the bench. The 3rd was cut from SD, is now a Steeler and did nothing again today. Get a grip.
Lol dude pechillo you're not serious right? You do realize that we gave up more points and yards than any other Super Bowl winning team in history right? Even the biggest Flacco haters will admit that 11-0 TD-INTs was the primary reason for that run.
I'd like to set eyes on Zach Miller or Virgil Green for TE, its become a need with Daniels gone and Pitta still a question mark.
I'm a big fan of finding sleepers not taking into account character concerns (Ravens can handle anything) just talent. A huge sleeper for a late draft would be Duke Williams from Auburn. Some said he would be a first round but got kicked off the team
if Bosa, Hargreaves, Ramsey, and Treadwell are available, who do the Ravens get?
I'd take Tunsil but I don't like Stanley in the top 5 either, to me he is a border #10 guy. He's got great size but I really don't like his run blocking. That's the part of his game that I just can't get over to take him so high. If we trade back I think he becomes a possibility but at 4 or 5 he's a reach in my mind. I believe in general trading back is probably our best option, collect some future high picks and what not.
Trade back and grab Stanley. Grab Boyd with the original second and Yannick with the extra. Then bell or Thompson in the third. Boom. All needs addressed in 3 rounds.
Stanley may go top4 as well. But trading back and getting Stanley and Boyd would be awesome.
If we don't get a ring this upcoming year, we will have a dry next couple year. Yanda, Osemele, Jimmy, Upshaw and Will Hill all FA's next offseason.
Ray Rice and Yanda's cap hits disappear. We'll be able to keep two out of four of those FA's.
^^ exactly. we'll be sitting pretty a year from now i believe, we will be able to re-sign the MUST have guys like jimmy/ko/yanda, i think will hill gets a contract before the season starts, and upshaw will come very cheap due to his lack of numbers and spotlight. we'll have enough remaining cap space to make a splash if needed as well.
I don't see the FO letting Jimmy, Osemele or Yanda leaving... a receiver like Torrey is replaceable
if we get Webb to restructure, hopefully we can take a shot at getting Nick Fairley
if we get fairley it would be a dream come true. out front 7 would once again be elite. suggs, fairley, williams, jernigan, and doom. good luck
Fairley can play DT. he's similar to Haloti at which he can play DT and DE if he stays in shape. He was in Suh's shadow his whole career, i think he wants to be in a spotlight. He's the type of player where, if he's in the spotlight, he won't disappoint. Canty and Ngata are both our DE's and they're both gone. Fairley would definitely make sense. It is somewhat of a need.
Also, he's visiting the Bengals, and that would be dangerous running up the middle with their d-line if Fairley signs with them
imagine if all our injured players come back next year strong along with a top 5 draft pick, going to have a very successful 2016 season.
It's not just one Top 5 pick - it's the magic Ozzie can work with an early pick in every single round. We're in all our games - not getting blown out - so I figure some key pieces and we will be a pretty good team next season if not a dominant one.
I live in the present. The Next year positive image is ok as it is fantasy.
well sure if you wanna live in the present we blow haha but why live in the present when the future looks so much brighter
isn't it time to not be known for just defense? don't get me wrong Ravens defense is essentially the only old school and real football played anymore but I'm tired of Pats and Broncos etc. to be considered shoe-ins for the super bowl based off of QB and offense. Lets balance our defense with offense. aka Ozzie please draft a WR *not Devin Smith* and a TE
i wouldnt call strong a slot guy considering he catches the back shoulder-sideline fade better than any wr ive seen in a while lol
Like I said, I would very much welcome the addition of a WR on day one so long as he'll pan out a #1 (eventually). I guess we'll just have to wait and see what Ozzie does come April 30th boys.
I do really like Darius Davis as well. Check him out. probably the most underrated prospect in the draft. He can do damage in the league with right coaching.
Jaelen Strong, Duke Johnson, Josh Shaw
@pechillo; I disagree. TJ Yeldon at 6'1 225 has the size to handle the NFL load. Additionally, compared to previous Bama RB's he hasn't had the same amount of carries. He's had 576 carries in 3 seasons, which isn't a great deal at his size. I believe he's got a lot of room for improvement at 21 years old.
@TDubbs just because he has the size doesn't mean he has more potential, not every player in college has potential. You can tell by which ones do and which ones don't. Its tough to explain but its out there.
They're gonna draft Melvin or a big receiver. that's all. just need BIg bodies for Trestman. Yeldon, JAY AJAYI, are perfect targets. along with jalen and kevin white.
Jaelen Strong. Quinten Rollins. Markus Golden. 4th Rd (Nick O'Leary, Josh Shaw, Stefon Diggs)
David Johnson, Tj Yeldon, or Tevin coleman type RB
if they havent alreaddy taken Gordon/Gurley. But i think AZ takes gurley III
i have AZ taking Gurley also. And I think someone like the Chargers will trade up after their first pick to draft Gordon before we are on the clock. I like Coleman and Johnson but not Yeldon, i think Yeldon is maxed out at potential.
Josh Shaw is probably my favorite player in the draft. I really really think he has potential to be one of the best CB's in the league honestly.
CB no, but At Safety it is a possibility. He's an outstanding tackler. Seems to be stiff in coverage at times.
I agree P&B, love him at Safety.
Hes a better saftey than Cb, Takles great, knows how to blitz from the FS poaition. raw talent good get for any team.
Josh Shaw looked absolutely incredible at the combine. He's flying under the radar but he has 1st round talent.
He looks like a FS in the NFL or a strict press man corner
Ya know @Dubs I didn't watch the Senior Bowl and I did hear that he struggled, but in the Ravens' Article earlier. It said that Josh Shaw actually impressed the Horitz.
He's probably better suited to play safety than CB. Mid-round pick.
