  1. If we don't get a ring this upcoming year, we will have a dry next couple year. Yanda, Osemele, Jimmy, Upshaw and Will Hill all FA's next offseason.

    1. PurpleCity5

      PurpleCity5

Ray Rice and Yanda's cap hits disappear. We'll be able to keep two out of four of those FA's.

    2. JoeyFlex5

      JoeyFlex5

^^ exactly. we'll be sitting pretty a year from now i believe, we will be able to re-sign the MUST have guys like jimmy/ko/yanda, i think will hill gets a contract before the season starts, and upshaw will come very cheap due to his lack of numbers and spotlight. we'll have enough remaining cap space to make a splash if needed as well.

      alkutbay

I don't see the FO letting Jimmy, Osemele or Yanda leaving... a receiver like Torrey is replaceable

  2. I'd like to set eyes on Zach Miller or Virgil Green for TE, its become a need with Daniels gone and Pitta still a question mark.

    1. pechillo

      pechillo

I think Pitta is done though. Usually even optimistic news won't help the situation, but they're not even being optimistic, they're not commenting which means bad bad news for Dennis

  3. if we get Webb to restructure, hopefully we can take a shot at getting Nick Fairley

      chunkywill25

if we get fairley it would be a dream come true. out front 7 would once again be elite. suggs, fairley, williams, jernigan, and doom. good luck

    2. pechillo

      pechillo

Fairley can play DT. he's similar to Haloti at which he can play DT and DE if he stays in shape. He was in Suh's shadow his whole career, i think he wants to be in a spotlight. He's the type of player where, if he's in the spotlight, he won't disappoint. Canty and Ngata are both our DE's and they're both gone. Fairley would definitely make sense. It is somewhat of a need.

    3. pechillo

      pechillo

Also, he's visiting the Bengals, and that would be dangerous running up the middle with their d-line if Fairley signs with them

  4. bittersweet about Ngata. He cared about money more than winning another Super Bowl and helping out his team. But he also had an incredible career in B-more happy to have had him.

      rmcjacket23

We aren't the only team in the league with SB aspirations...

Ngata did what he decided was best for him, and that demands the respect of every fan. The team 100% of the time does what is in their perceived best interest, and players demand the same support.

devin smith is certainly worth a late first or early 2nd, i have soured a bit on him but if he is coached up properly and refines his game, he actually has the potential to be the best wr from this class, nobody else in this class can make the spectacular catch like smith can, and it is a very coveted trait. his small body of work is concerning though

    3. pechillo

      pechillo

devin smith would simply be a role player on the ravens we need to get a franchise WR. sure he led the nation in yards/reception but thats not all that matters in the NFL, no way. YAC is crucial. Route running is crucial. Getting separation is crucial. And yeah his small body cannot get that separation nor can he get more yards after contact than Strong or any other bigger receiver. Smith didn't even run the 40 in the time everyone expected him to run it.

    4. pechillo

      pechillo

I just see him sliding down draft boards because he didn't produce much last year, he didn't even break 1000 yards. its kind of disrespectful considering him a 1st-2nd rd pick when other players who produced more last year are considered day 2 and 3 picks.

  7. does Haloti know he's not the best DT/DE in league anymore? Take the pay cut and be a team player if you want to win a Super Bowl sheesh

      ravensdfan

They are not pay cuts. They are restructuring the money. It usually means a higher base salary and it is then spreading out the remaining to be more cap friendly.

    3. rmcjacket23

      rmcjacket23

There's a difference between an extension and a restructuring. You can't restructure a contract that only has one year remaining without taking a paycut. Its impossible.

An extension was ALWAYS the goal of the Ngata talks. Never had anything to do with restructuring anything.

    4. ravensdfan

      ravensdfan

An extension is still not a paycut. Ngata is on the tail end of his career. An extension would have made him a Raven for life and taken that $16M cap hit and spread it out. That is all. Not a paycut.

  8. wow...disappointed in Torrey. Thought he would appreciate home more than anyone else in the NFL. T-sizzle, Ray, Ed, all appreciated home more than money. Good luck to Torrey.

lawrence guy was a real under the radar beast last year, him and deangelo tyson make for real good depth, but i agree that investing at DE somewhere in the draft would help big time. trey flowers in the 4th is a good option

    3. pechillo

      pechillo

being a solid DE is good don't get me wrong. But the Ravens have a way of always being DOMINANT. And obviously the most intimidating D-lineman on our team is Ngata. (Though if Brandon Williams ever got on the line with me I'd probably poop my pants)

    4. hn68wb4

      hn68wb4

i disagree pertaining to Ngata, i think there are multiple teams that would trade for him, Oakland and Detroit to name a couple. A team would trade for the guarentee that Ngata goes there, if he hits the open market and teams start bidding the price may exceed what he is now

  12. Could Ozzie do a repeat of his 2012 cut frenzy with this cap situation?

    1. pechillo

      pechillo

I don't think he will mainly because we're just a few tweaks away from winning another super bowl. But we will be major tweaks away if we don't resign players like Torrey, Forsett, Daniels, and Hill

  13. Could the Ravens bring back Cary Williams? They would have Webb, Smith, and Cary. But Ravens asked Webb to take pay cut, and now he's on the hot seat money wise.

They made him a more than fair offer prior to the season. He turned it down and bet on himself. He talked about "maybe his last game as a Raven" which says he wants more money than he was offered. The Ravens are not going to up their offer based on his performance in 2014. And they shouldn't because he is a one trick pony.

  14. Andre Johnson or Kenny Britt to the Ravens, I think one will likely happen. Britt rather than Johnson. for $$$ reasons

    1. pechillo

      pechillo

^agreed. I think he'd be a great addition to the team, but he's going to ask for too much and he's going to ask for the ball too much. I think a role WR is better than looking for a #1. I think we have our #1 with Steve Smith. He had an incredible year last year to start off. Slowed down a little bit towards the end, but still very productive. I would like Britt.

    2. ravensdfan

      ravensdfan

We have plenty of role WRs on the roster now. We do need a #1 guy - big, physical guy that will make contested catches and can actually get separation. Smith Sr is great for his age, but not a true #1 any longer.

    3. pechillo

      pechillo

      I should've clarified, but yeah i agree.

  15. From the rumors, Andre Johnson will be a free agent. I don't think he'll reconsider, but he should consider realizing he is not an elite WR anymore. If he does, then it is very possible Ravens could give him an offer. Also depends on how much cap they have. This scenario only applies if Ngata, Webb, and others take pay cut or get released. Another FA to look for and is more realistic, is Kenny Britt. A lot of talks about him getting traded to the Ravens and now that he is a FA, I think there is a very high chance of ravens signing him. He just never liked Tennessee thats why he never really tried haha, just my opinion. But yeah, Britt would be great on the squad. I think that gives us space for the draft. We don't NEED to draft a WR at #1 so we can get breathing room and focus on other positions like CB depth, Young 3 down RB, and TE.
  16. I just wanna squash the whole TJ Yeldon to the Ravens scenario. He peaked his junior year. He has no more room for developing.

    1. juanman7

    2. ravensdfan

      ravensdfan

Think we do it the other way around, only because Forsett will probably come at a more reasonable price tag. Totally possible they both walk.

    3. pechillo

      pechillo

Torrey isn't the type of player that wants money over a winning team. I think he truly loves Baltimore especially since he was drafted here, went to Maryland, grew up in VA, and his son was born there. He's like T Sizzle in my opinion. He cares about winning and sentimental value to his team. Just my opinion.

  19. Trade back to get Perriman? Thoughts?

    1. pechillo

      pechillo

@BmoreBird22 I agree he's pretty inconsistent with his hands but so was Torrey and he developed. When it comes to types of WR's we already have an Algholor and Smith in Torrey. If we don't sign him back then I can see us getting one of them two, but if we sign back Torrey we would probably look for a big bodied tough to take down bulldozer as a receiver and I think Perriman fits that mold.

    2. BmoreBird22

      BmoreBird22

I don't think Torrey Smith is back to be honest, but I personally don't like Perriman too much just because of the hands. It's something very worrisome coming out of college because it's a lot tougher to make contested catches in the NFL. He's a really physical specimen and could turn out to be a really great receiver, but those hands scare me.

    3. PurpleCity5

      PurpleCity5

I wouldn't mind if we picked him there. Though I don't think F.O would trade back for Perriman, I think F.O would trade back for someone who's falling like Shane Ray or maybe Nate Orchard.
