i like Rey as the champion! they better not put that belt back on the Cena-machine!
~Mili
finally! Mark Henry is vicious! it's about time for the "BIG" fella! i've been tired of his whimpy storylines. now he is acting like the world's strongest man.....run through people! stand up to Show and rock Kane! i love it! lol
~Mili
Mark Henry wins! yes!
~Mili
i just turned on the tube and saw Cena toss the belt at Vince and walk out the ring. okay...where is this storyline headed?
~Mili
i like this more vicious Mark Henry storyline. i loved watching him smash Show. lol
~Mili
There's been a couple of wrestlers to speak out, Matt Morgan being one of them, that expressed how the DDT is horribly undersold for a move that, given the concept, should be pretty dangerous. You're basically planting a guy face-first on the ground while bringing all your weight down on the back of his head and neck. The DDT was considered pretty devastating during Jake Roberts' time, and it's a shame that it's become such a regular part of people's movesets that it's not a finisher anymore.
i agree!
of course we all have our own "favorite" types of moves that we like to see. to me...the Killswitch is weak but not to others. cool! however, power moves such as that DDT are awesome! and yes, i think that it has been just a regular part of people's moves now. it's a shame! Orton modified it a bit by doing it with his opponents legs on the second rope. nasty!
~Mili
Franchise has a blog post about Cena that pretty much sums it up. And I disagree with your opinion of Killswitch, I think it's an awesome finisher.
i hear you Magician, but to me it's weak in comparison to the Stunner, Pedigree, Rock-Bottom or even Cody Rhodes Cross Rhodes etc. those are the types of moves i like. lol!
~Mili
i never got why soooo many people constantly boo John Cena or chant...."Cena-Sucks" when others chant "Let's Go Cena." i guess its because it has gotten to the point that his routine is predictable and that he will always win matches??
i just watch Raw (had it recorded) and that last 6-Man Elimination match was pretty much predictable in that Cena and Orton would win...especially when i say A-Ry get eliminated first and then the Miz. that left both the Champions (Cena and Orton) and their nemisis's (Truth and Christian) in the ring.
P.S. Christian's "Kill-Switch" move is weak...always has been!!
~Mili
the new chant is...."REALLY?" lol
~Mili
Randy's slamming Shamus on the step in the ring was awesome!!!!
~Mili
In regards to the R-Truth gimmick, I thought about it a bit more, and I realize that all of this stereotyping is leading to a bigger plan. While Truth will probably fall victim to Cena at the PPV, we may see a more serious Truth after the PPV. Heck, we may even see Truth deliver a beatdown to Cena next week just to prove that he's a threat to the title. After all, the company doesn't profit if people aren't willing to buy a PPV because they can predict the outcome. Therefore, to make the outcome a little less obvious, Truth must be made to look like a threat or else there's no incentive or curiosity to increase buys.
we'll see Franchise. as a black man myself, i hope so cause i hate all of this stereo-typing with a passion. R-Truth is a decent wrestler and since Booker-T, the wwe hasn't had a solid black wrestler that the people could get behind and believe in as a true contender for a championship. instead, we get this clowning, shucking and jiving character in R-Truth. pitiful! also, Mark Henry has been a bottom feeder for years! it's time for the wwe to change the game up! smh!
~Mili
Andy wins TE!
R-Truth gets a title shot!
Riley is a new face!
Booker T is back!
Stone Cold is the GM!
unbelievable night!
~Mili
here comes BOOKER T!!!!
take notes R-Truth! this is how a brutha is suppose to conduct himself in the ring son! lol!
~Mili
Good Point lol. So how much longer you guys think this whole Computer GM will last? I would have to think soon since this storyline was announced last year around this time so we are going on a year since the GM computer storyline started.
i don't know but it is dry as hell!
~Mili
I actually like where this Truth angle is headed. At first, the overly stereotypical mic work bothered me, but it works in this case because it's a caricature and even Truth himself is pointing it out.
not me!
~Mili
awww damn! here comes the Cena-machine! lol
~Mili
i knew Andy would win!
but, look at Truth coming out here in this outfit. they making my brother look like a straight fool! i hate this storyline with passion! smh!
~Mili
Trish is sexy as hell! i've always loved that girl! lol!
~Mili
While it's true that a wrestler is shaped by how Creative molds them, the great ones have been the ones to buck the trend by taking the ball and running with it. That means, if they want a clown, you be the best damn clown in the industry. Eventually, fans start to show their appreciation until the writers cannot ignore the reaction and must push him.
The best way to get around the trappings of the writing staff is by doing something to stand out. Any wrestler worth their salt, knows that you have to make the most of every opportunity. That's what separates the Stone Cold Steve Austins from the Drew McIntyres. McIntyre had his push derailed because he let his personal problems get to him, and there were rumblings that he also had an ego. Austin had his push accelerated because he impressed the veterans with his work ethic and he happened to steal the spotlight every time he was given a chance.
The industry, just like the NFL, is a "what-have-you-done-for-me-lately" business. You're only as good as your last performance, so if you're an older wrestler like R-Truth and want to be pushed to the moon, you have to take what's given to you. That's exactly why he's being rewarded with a main event run now, as he's done everything Creative has asked of him and excelled. While he acts stereotypical on the mic, that happens to be his mic style if you've ever watched him in TNA; that's no fault of Creative, that's his own approach. Conversely, Shelton Benjamin showed no personality whatsoever because he had very little charisma on the mic.
i agree with the points made here! i just want to see a more fiercer Truth and Mark Henry. i really want them to be consider as "serious" contenders for the wwe title. i'm tired of seeing the same people in the hunt for the title over and over and over.
~Mili
Totally agree... R-Truth will never be in the league of a Stone Cold Steve Austin, and that's all I've gotta say about that.
you guys are missing the point! it is not about making R-Truth the next Stone Cold, or the Rock etc. are you serious? smh!
i'm talking about him being a legitimate heel without all of the bafoonery! his present story line imo is horrible and stereotypically poor creativity from the wwe writing staff! soooo, in everyone's eyes, he is seen as no-threat or no legitimate title contender.
but to be honest....in this industry....
all of the wrestlers WILL BE whatever the writing staff wants them to be! if it is a clown they need...they write it in! if it is a fool they need. they write it in! if it is a joke of a werestler they need. they write it in! if it is a serious heel that is running through cats in the wwe....they write it in! if it is a legitimate #1 contender...they write it in! and if it is a champion they need....they write it in!
so, R-Truth WILL BE whatever they want him to be! all i am saying is that they need to make him a solid heel we can believe in. for example: whatever happen to Shaz? after he turned on JTG, seemed like they were building him to be a heel and then he disappears! even Mark Henry (world's strongest man) has NEVER been in a main event for a title shot and this cat can easily run through the WWE. if they write it in! smh!
~Mili
I love Truth as a heel, and while I'm still not a fan of his ring work, I'm just glad that there's a new name in the main event tier that is experienced and has put on some decent matches in other companies. He's more than serviceable as an intermediate challenger until the build towards Cena-Del Rio.
I like how WWE just rolled with the punches after experiencing legitimate technical difficulties at the start of the night, incorporating that into Truth's conspiracy angle. Smart move.
I can't believe I'm saying this, but even with Cena and Orton as champions again, WWE is going in the right direction. While I would prefer to take the championships off those two, there's so many different branching storylines on both shows with so much promise, I can't complain as much as I did a few weeks ago.
i like Truth as a heel as well!
i like the conspiracy angle of Cena and "lil" Jimmy keep him down from a title shot. however, as a black man myself....i don't like his bafoonery or crazy angle. he needs to be more fierce and serious in his speech and mannerisms and to become more sharper in the ring. we need a heel we can believe in and get behind like we did Stone Cold and others.
~Mili
Rey Mysterio's masked luchadore gimmick works because it's a respected wrestling tradition. His mask is its own gimmick and there's a whole culture that revolves around the sacred symbolism of the mask within the history of wrestling in Mexico.
Cena can do several things to refresh his character.
For starters, he can expand his moveset. While repetition and familiarity is a hallmark of mainstream wrestling, Cena has the same exact spots in each match: get beat up, suddenly fight back with punches, duck a punch and convert it into a spinning backdrop, hit the Five Knuckle Shuffle, then an Attitude Adjustment for the pin OR a drop toehold into the STF for the submission. If you YouTube the ending to every Cena match of the past two years, 90% of them end in this sequence. Rey Mysterio is somewhat guilty of this, while Randy Orton has increasingly become a clone of Cena in this same regard.
As for the gimmick itself, Cena has played a straight-laced, clean-cut character for years now. He needs a slight edge. He doesn't need to use profanity but he needs to show more aggression and show more creativity on the mic. Furthermore, the jean-shorts/sweatband look is dated and looks ridiculous on a guy in his mid-30s.
But above all else, Cena has to become vulnerable. The majority of older fans hate Cena because he is never booked to lose. This throws all plausibility out the window. While wrestling already requires a suspension of disbelief, there's no reason for anyone to ever watch anything involving Cena if everyone knows he'll prevail every single time. That's why everyone loved it when The Rock came back and made it plausible that Cena could lose because of Rock's involvement.
In essence, The Rock is the anti-Cena. Few longtime wrestling fans will hold Cena in the same regard as Rock, Austin, and others in 10 years' time.
i definitely know about and understand Rey's mask and the significance of it to his culture and the history of mexican wrestlers.
i agree with your statement about Cena's clean cut image and jean shorts. they are dated! lol!
in reference to the Rock? i was just happy to see the Rock back because i just missed that cat! his mannerisms, athleticism and of course his monologues which are second to none imo. and i absolutely loved how he went at Cena.
side note: R-Truth wins by a count out? WEAK!!!!
~Mili
how can Cena "refresh" his character? sure, he may need to "re-invent" himself like other wrestlers do and have done (i.e. Stone Cold Steve Austin, The Rock, Edge etc.) but how? and in what way? what type of character should Cena become?
when he first came into the wwe he was a snot-nosed punk with tight shorts and matching knee pads talking about "ruthless-agression!" lol! then he turned into a rapper w/tons of catch phrases and witty comebacks for his opponents. now, he is all about this hustle, loyalty and never give up campaign with purple and red shirts and saluting etc.
Ray Mysterio has been a face and still runs his same gimmick as well but he is still very well received. why not Cena?
~Mili
maybe Cena should just turn heel and fix all of that booing? lol!
on a side note: the Bella twins are fine!
