  1. It was, indeed, painful to see how often Flacco threw to targets yards short of the yellow line on third downs. TRhis, and his apparent utter reluctance to speed up things in the 2-minute drill periods, casually jogging to the line like there were minutes left, when the clock showed 35 seconds, with one timeout - only to throw a pass short ofd the first down marker, to the middle of the field, leaving no chance for the target to step out of bounds stopping the clock... It genuinely seemed like he couldn't care less if he tried... And I'm not saying it was the case - but it certainly seemed so.

My major frustration the entire season.

  2. I know we all have varying opinions on what the Ravens' problems are and what it would take to fix them. Some think things are improving, others not so much. Some blame Harbaugh, some Flacco, some Mornhinweg, some Ozzie.

But the one thing we can all agree on is that we want the Ravens to beat Pittsburgh and Cincinnati and make a playoff run.

So, how about everyone post a big "Go Ravens! in solidarity, and then we can resume arguing after the game. Deal?

    GO RAVENS!!!!

"The Ravens could win a wild-card spot … by finishing 1-1 AND the Dolphins losing out AND the Texans, Broncos and Titans finishing 1-1. A single win by the Dolphins would prevent a wild-card spot for Baltimore."

The good news here is that the Broncos have @Chiefs and then home vs Raiders, I think the odds are substantial that they lose at least one of these.

The Texans and Titans finish the season against each other, so one of them is going to get a loss. It is impossible for more than one team in the South to do better than 9-7 and we hold the tiebreaker at 9-7 over all of them, so as long as we win at least one more game, we're guaranteed to be ahead of all teams from the South in the wild card standings.

That just leaves Miami. They need to lose both games, unfortunately. If they win again, then the only way we can get in is if we win the division.

They play @Bills and home vs Patriots.

It's entirely within the realm of possibility that they will lose both, but other than the one game against us where we kicked their butts, they've been playing really well for about 9 weeks straight now, so who knows.

But there is a decent chance, I think, thta we could still make the playoffs as a wild card if we go 9-7. Our only real worries are that we need the Broncos to lose either against the Chiefs OR Raiders (I think that's a very good bet!), AND we need the Dolphins to lose both games to the Bills and Patriots (not nearly as safe of a bet, but possible). So really, all scoreboard watching comes down to the Steelers and the Dolphins as far as our playoff chances go, unless the Broncos suddenly wake up and perform well against two great teams.

Ohmigosh, that makes my head hurt!  Let's just win out!  ;)

"real" color rush game. We are the road team so we have to wear all white. The steelers chose "All Black" for their color that most represents them. Which they kind of had to since all yellow would have looked terrible.

It is our job to make sure they never want to wear all black again.

Home team gets to pick color or white.  That's why some teams in hot climates choose white at home in September.  Of course, in December/January, every home team is picking color.

  5. I am convinced, after lots of analysis and many conversations, that our primary problem is coaching.  We have some very talented players; but they seem to lack direction, cohesiveness.  This things come from good coaching.

I seriously hope they have been spending this season looking for a new, long-term OC.  We need someone who will motivate Flacco, improve our clock-management, put a spark into the offense, know when to play aggressively vs. defensively, and not fall for defensive gimmicks like the Patriots pulled last week.

For everyone shouting: "we need a RB, we need receivers, we need an O-line!"  I submit to you that we have those things; we just need someone to lead, teach, and motivate them.

In a pass-happy league, the Ravens have a distaste for running the ball....... I'll just leave it at that.... How many top tier teams dominate in their running game? I know there are a few, but I'm Just asking.

The first place teams...Dallas, New England, Pittsburg....

Philly looked like a first-place team the way they ran the ball on us yesterday. Just sayin'....

  7. If SSS is right, and if Flacco is missing passes, checking down too early, too lackadaisical, then what do we do? Flacco's not going anywhere. How do we get him to produce?

Monday night, when Brady chewed out Edelman, I wondered what Flacco would have done in the same situation with Pitta. They would have gone over to the sideline and laughed about it.

I feel bad for Smith. He wants to go out with a bang, and this team is not giving him that.

  8. "“I take responsibility for this happening,” Rosburg said. “I take it very personally. It’s my fault that he didn’t have better opportunities to return and really show what he can do. We didn’t block well enough for him, we didn’t coach well enough for him, and when I talked to Devin, as you might expect, his response was, ‘It’s a team thing.’ He took full responsibility, and he understands that we all have to do this together. It was telling on his character, and that’s the kind of man he is.”

Sorry, Jerry, but I call BS here. If, as you say, it wasn't Hester's fault that he wasn't nearly as effective as hoped - then why was he released in the first place? Was he fired because his support cast didn't do a good enough job???

Eh, it's just your typical "this is what I am supposed to say" hype. Or rhetoric, or whatever you want to call it. You'll never get a straight answer out of any coach.
