  1. Has anyone ever forfeited due to lack of healthy players?
  2. I do not expect much good to happen over the next two games, but if you're saying we're going to go 4-12, then I certainly can't agree with that. We haven't done that since 1996. Give Mornhinweg a little time to make changes, and get some of the injured players back, and there will be lots of games to win. Who knows? We may even pull off a fluke on Sunday.
  3. Just stay healthy, Mr. Smith. The rest will take care of itself.
  4. I seem to remember some stink a few years ago because Harbaugh wasn't listing all the injuries. At that time, I think his response was that would would start listing everything, even if it was a hangnail or a shaving cut.
  5. Will be very curious to see if Marty can work with our weak O-line to get more out of them when starters are down. To me, that is the critical issue right now. Doesn't matter if you have good receivers when the QB is being chased/hit/sacked/hurried.
  6. Um, actually, we are the Browns reincarnated. But I get what you mean.
  7. You're absolutely right. What I was trying to say was that all of our recent OCs except for Kubiak have tended to abandon the run when we fall behind. I shouldn't have written when they "left." I meant, while they were here. People screamed for Cam to be fired, and yes, Caldwell came in and we won the SB. But Caldwell really didn't change very much. And there were a lot of people glad to see him go when he left for Indy. And then Trestman came in and he seemed to be coming right out of the Cameron/Caldwell school. So it makes me wonder if Mornhinweg will be any different. We promoted from within instead of bringing in a fresh, outside mind. Time will tell.
  8. So I guess the whole world will know that we're planning to run the ball more and pass down the field on Sunday. If Flacco can't stay in the pocket because of our pitiful O-line, how are the receivers going to have time to get down the field? And what's going to guarantee that they catch the ball once they do?
  9. Here's hoping.... Still don't see how a new OC fixes the busted offensive line.
  10. In 2000 & 2012 we lost to the Skins and won superbowls both years. In 2016, we lose to the Skins and ? In 2012, OC Cam Cameron was fired following a Skins loss In 2016, OC Marc Trestman was fired following a Skins loss. In 2012, Jim Caldwell, the QB coach became the OC. In 2016, Marty Mornhinweg, the QB coach became the OC. In 2012, Art Modell passed away (RIP). In 2016, Clarence Brooks passed away (RIP). In 2012, Ray Lewis announced it was "His Last Ride" Time for Steve Smith Sr. to announce it is "His Last Ride"? Weird how life works sometimes, eh? Have you ever seen the list of comparisons of Lincoln's and Kennedy's assassinations? Freaky!
  11. How do you know that? It didn't change when Cam left; it didn't change when Caldwell left. The only person who did anything differently was Kubiak, and we all knew he wouldn't last.
  12. Whoa, whoa, wait a minute. While I'll agree that Trestman is not the long-term solution, and maybe he makes some bad calls, let's keep in mind that your play selection is EXTREMELY limited when your offensive line can't protect the QB. Joe was rushed, sacked, chased, and hit so many times after Wagner left the game that the options were very limited. If the line can't open holes for a run, then you can't run. If the receivers don't have time to get down the field because the QB is being chased, then you don't make deep throws. And when we did make deep throws, Perriman let one go through his hands, and then he came down out of bounds in the endzone. Firing Trestman (and I'm not saying that's a bad idea, but you better have someone better to replace him with) will not fix the lack of depth on the O-line, not will it make Perriman catch deep passes. Nor will it give Flacco time to wait for his receivers to get open.
  13. I think it should be mandatory training for defenders that unless you have a clear shot to the endzone, when you recover a turnover, fall on the ball. Let the offense do its job. How many times have we seen a fumble get away from someone who tries to scoop it and run with it instead of just falling on it?
  14. Ravens/Redskins is not a rivalry as far as the organizations go. Ravens have three legitimate rivals: Steelers, Bengals, Patriots. However, there is somewhat of a fan rivalry between the Ravens and Redskins. A lot of people jumped over to the Redskins when the Colts left. This cause a two-way dislike: Ravens fans dislike Redskins fans for jumping ship and helping keep a team out of Baltimore for 12 years; and Redskins fans dislike Ravens fans because they feel like they are a target of Ravens fans (also because their team has mostly sucked for the last 15 years, while the Ravens have enjoyed success).
  15. I thought the Brown move was premature. I think we'd all like to see Waller in there. But with Pitta and Gilmore, his snaps will be limited.
  16. I hope everyone who has been saying that pot ought to be legalized and he didn't do anything wrong would at least pay attention to what the man said! Legal or not, whenever someone turns to a substance in order to avoid or cope with emotional pain, it becomes an addiction. Whether or not marijuana is chemically addictive, it is still psychologically addictive. They are two different things. There are lots of things that are legal to which people get psychologically addicted -- pornography, alcohol, prescription meds .... Heck, you could even get addicted to doing jigsaw puzzles if that is what you turn to as a coping mechanism. It sounds like Waller has recognized that he was using marijuana as pain management, and now he wants to be free from that and face his pain head on. That is a positive decision; and saying that "weed ought to be legal" is not germane to the issue.
  17. Flacco has 1072 passing yards, and is on a pace for 4288!
  18. That sounds like an emotion-based opinion, and the stats do not bear that out.
  19. "Fans want blowouts, but the Ravens haven’t won a regular-season game by more than one score since December 28, 2014." Well, Mr. E., strength of victory is a tie-breaker stat, and being in the AFC North, I think we need some blow-outs to ensure a playoff berth.
  20. This is sad, indeed. But-- Not as sad as the Ray Rice fiasco. And, If he can land somewhere with a good O-line and a good running scheme, he will be fine.
  21. Note to Harbaugh: increasing security is not the answer. Eliminating tailgating and selling alcohol at games is the answer. Sorry, but sober people usually don't throw bottles at each other and get into fights.
  22. Great article. Always good to know how the Ravens' insiders are seeing things. But I especially loved the PS!
  23. Not seeing anybody I would cut to keep Waller right now. Will probably cut Buck to keep Dixon.
