  1. Maybe. Then again, maybe they have already started to think: "This isn't our year. I'm going to do a 'credible' but uninspired job, try not to get hurt, and hope maybe next year is better." Or, "I am going to do just enough to keep my job, rake in millions, and then retire and open a restaurant." Who knows? One thing is for sure: having SSS in their faces isn't going to make them play worse!
  2. If I remember correctly, Brown had a big catch, and Gillmore has had some very big plays, including the one in which he fought his way to the goal line.
  3. Jim and John have radically different personalities.
  4. Alarmism and extremism. We lost three games. We lost by a grand total of 14 points. We have been in every game, and we came up short of one big play. Firing anyone at this juncture would be foolish, unless you happen to know of better coordinators and quarterbacks that are out there looking for a job that, for unknown reasons, no one has hired. Give me a break.
  5. Vick can find open receivers, and with our weak secondary, he is not to be taken for granted. Meanwhile, Pitt has beaten us in the past w/out Big Ben. No one should see this game as a shoo-in. But--with Pitt's weak defense, I think we have a good chance.
  6. Looks like the Bengals are proud of their accomplishment without resorting to badmouthing us. Glad to see it. They played well. They're 3-0. We're 0-3. Those are the simple facts.
  7. Our points differential is only -14. We have not been blown out in any of these games. In each case, we've been one big play away from a win. If we can find a way to get that big, clutch play, we start turning these losses into victories. I was hoping Perriman might provide that, but looks like the wait continues.
  8. I think Andre Smith's butt injury should cause him to sit out. Oh, wait--maybe he can't sit!
  9. Man, this game is making me so nervous! I really, really, really want a win for so many reasons!
  10. I remember when he got turf toe. It was the first time in my life I ever thought the season may be over because we lost a tackle.
  11. I really, really hope he can come in -- when he's ready -- and make a difference. If comes in and drops balls or misses routes, then the air is really going to be let out of my tires.
  12. Whoa! A "strained hip" is worse than a torn Achilles? How does that make sense?
  13. I hope the sense of urgency doesn't translate into more personal fouls and on-field frustration. Just play your best, keep your heads, and don't give in to anxiety.
  14. "They don't like us, we don't like them." Are there any teams in the same division that do like each other?
  15. "I finally feel like a pirate instead of a girl."
  16. It must really stink to be a Raiders fan. I haven't seen anyone, anywhere say, "The Raiders played well. They have a good team this year. Congratulations." Instead, it's all, "The Ravens are falling apart. No way the Ravens should have lost. What's wrong with the Ravens?" So I'm saying it: Oakland--you played a good game on Sunday. Congrats.
  17. Glad to see Jernigan owning up -- he lost us that game, IMO. Unless we need to go 15-1, then of course we have a chance at the playoffs. 2 losses does not mean the season is over. But we need to get better. Perriman will help.
  18. Great article as always, Mr. B. That brought back memories. In 20 years, I don't think I have missed more than two or three games (on TV or at the stadium), but if you had asked me how that first game turned out, I'm not sure I would have remembered. And the insider info on Johnny U. and Mr. Modell were much appreciated.
  19. We're sure. That's what the Redksins only wish they were!
  20. Think about this, though. In an "all pass" offensive, the QB is everything, and if he goes down, the season is virtually over. With a "run first" offense, a back-up QB can more easily step in and have a chance at winning games.
  21. Unless I dreamed it, Suggs has been injured before, and we've been alright. This is his second Achilles, right? Everyone's acting like this is a career ender.
  22. No offense, Ray, but we aren't a one-man team. We will overcome. Let's go clobber Oakland this week and get our swagger back. Glad to see Suggs staying with the team. He can lead from a wheelchair, and it is his leadership that the team will miss the most.
  23. Agreed. Look at the Broncos. They have one of the greatest QBs of all time PLUS Damariyus Thomas PLUS Immanuel Sanders PLUS Aqib Talib PLUS ... ah, you get the picture. We are short on superstars. Still, we played well enough to keep Pey-Pey out of the endzone and held them to 19 points. For an opening game on the road, that's pretty encouraging.
  24. What a stinky Monday. All in all, I thought we played well against Denver. Come on! We held them to ZERO offensive points! And we hung in there on the road in the season opener. But this news really sucks. I hope Upshaw is ready.
  25. Could have been a tie if Scoobee-doo hadn't missed his first two FGs.
