That's a pretty good three year stretch to be a one year wonder...
And by just came onto the scene, you can't possibly mean just now in his second season, as if his rookie season wasn't absurd? Like Randy Moss rookie season absurd.
No, I mean he's 2 years into the league and Eli's been quarterbacking in the NFL longer than Flacco. 2 years is just coming onto the scene in relative terms.
20,327...and no substance. Love it.
Just posted this to see how many posts I have. Yeah.
Eli also has had a lot longer of a career. But I think people look at it as he has Cruz who was considered a top ten wr at one point and now has obj who in my opinion will be the best wr for years to come. You can't make any argument for Flacco having that one guy. But I'll take a group of wrs like we had in our sb run over one elite guy any day
OBJ has just come on the scene and Cruz COULD be a 1 season wonder. Not saying he is, but could be. They've both had similar types of receiver groups...and similar careers thus far.
I wouldn't say Eli has had a substantially better group of receivers over the years. This year was rough for Flacco, but outside 2015, I'd say Boldin, Smith, Sr, Mason, his TEs in a healthy Pitta, Daniels, Heap etc have been relatively on pat with what Eli has had. They are very similar QBs in very similar situations. Those saying otherwise likely look at Eli as having been sorta average at the QB position and certainly don't want to liken Flacco to that category/ranking.
How many years does the contract say we have Mallet for?
Thru next year.
Books, yuck.
The whole offense sucked that game and that loss is on them. I think the 3rd quarter went something like fumble, fumble, punt and a pick.
Torrey was drafted the year after, but all of those guys played bad. That was also a tough catch for a td that everyone likes to give Boldin trouble for.
True about the catches, but Mason was a BEAST. I'll always remember that play he made in the Titans divisional game. Mason was a trooper and played with a bum shoulder the end of the 08 season and still performed at a high level. I don't remember him being shut down too often either and he was our only real threat out wide.
I was referring to over the years, TJ and Boldin in 2010, Evans in 2011 and of course Torrey last year. The Boldin ball was perfectly placed for the coverage and route. Needed to be caught. Just watched it again.
If it were not for Boldins many clutch plays the ravens would not have that trophy. As opposed to Derrick Mason never got open in big games to drop anything.
You know not what you are talking about. I am amazed about how you feel about Mason. I'm not sure you'd find another person that has this perception of Mason.
I like it. He isn't Joe or anyone else. Joe's deficiencies are not his, therefore they don't apply. A little cocky? Yes. Dig it, though. That's how this here fella rolls as well, and yes, I'm drinking.
Some people's children...I guess he wasn't around for Boldin's 2010 "clutch" performance @ PIT
Why Fly? Why ya gotta bring up that game? I know many have mentioned this before, but the let downs by receivers for this team over the years, ugh! Boldin, TJ, Evans, even Torrey with the pathetic attempt to grab a ball that shouldn't have been thrown...
I never cared much for Derrick Mason. Lot of garbage production. Never did anything when it really counted. Boldins clutch production in the playoffs stands out so far.
Wow!
Or just change it to 999 and it will take you to the last page
Effectively the same thing I am saying the user do.
Shouldn't have to jump through those hoops but I doubt you're a programmer and don't mind it but the functionality is relatively simple to implement and improves user interface and should be implemented. Really no excuse you can muster that'll excuse it imo so you may as well not waste your time.
Geezy peezy, just trying to help. Until a solution is there for you, this very simple method of adding a single digit has performed well for me over the years. Definitely not jumping through any hoops.
And yeah, I program here and there.
What if you don't want to read the most recent post you haven't read and want to skip ahead? I guess that's too much to request, huh?
Simple. Go to the top where it has the url and its ending with a page #. Add a digit or two and voila, you're at the most recent page.
Just finished (last night) watching all of The Walking Dead from season 1 to the midway point of season 6 in 3 weeks. That's dedication.
Let me say, never watched it cause I've never been into sci-fi, zombie, monster crap. But this is a good show. Not all zombies and only zombies. There are plotlines within plotlines and an overall good cast. Daryl's transformation from a butthole to just a total badbutt dude is awesome!
Flacco holds a bazillion records, carried this team to a SB (thank Lee Evans for costing us back to back SB on Flacco's arm), had probably the greatest postseason run in history, has historically been sublime in the postseason, and along with Ryan is the very reason teams now put high expectations on rookie QBs and start them from day one. sounds like "money" to me
Opinions vary. Flacco, in my opinion, hasn't been money since walking into the NFL. Very few players are money from rookie year on.
Steve Smith + Perriman + Aiken + A Free Agent or draft pick #1 or 2 = Dangerous WR core
Steve Smith + unknown + Aiken + another dude + another unknown = unknown level of skilled WR corps ![]()
no because on mobile I have to wade through 3 pages before I can get to receNT posts.
If you're in the mobile skin and on a mobile device, when you click on a topic it should take you to the most recent post NOT read by you.
He could probably be more consistent money if he has an AJ Green, Antonio Brown, Gronk or Dez Bryant to throw too. Just trying to stir the pot...
But seriously, he's been good enough to earn the right of franchise QB going forward and not have the prospect of being replaced by Mallet being entertained. I agree with Phil Simms, this is our best player, it took Pittsburgh a while, start building around him going forward. Joe Flacco gives us our best chance to win a Super Bowl, 2012 proved that, last year showed that too, let's not waste his prime.
Yes, I agree he is a franchise QB. He just hasn't been "money" since walking onto an NFL field and some of the other nonsense some say about him. He's good. Makes some very poor decisions at times, but he's good. Not great, though.
Mallet is no Flacco.
He'll be a great backup and could easily start for a QB-needy team. That it, that's all. Unless we're all watching a different NFL in bizzaro world... Flacco has been, and will be the core of the Ravens. Joe has been money since his rookie season, and Mallet's sample-size is smaller than Clausen's head.
I try sooooo hard to not get into these conversations, then I see statements like the bolded part. He was money during a 4 game stretch and I'm super thankful for that. He has not been money since he entered the league.
That was the most difficult thing to read ever!
the Ravens look pretty strong at WR headed into the offseason. Brown should not be overpaid as a restricted free agent by the Ravens.
We do? We look worse than last off season when we had a healthy Sr and a newly signed BP. We have a ton of uncertainty at the WR position.

Yeah, you sorta disagreed with me and then agreed with me. Assume he never regains that years form (whatever it was, 2011 or 2012) and people look back in 5,10 or even 15 years...1 season wonder. Just saying it's not like Eli has had a 1,500 yard per season guy year in and year out.
But yes, I'd trade my left arm for OBJ.
