  1. To tell you the truth, I'm not to concerned about Kubiaks playcalling. Kubiaks system is similar to Shanahan's, Only difference is, Kubiak doesn't run the Pistol Formatiom as much. But Kubiak like to mix in the no huddle a few times a game, unlike Shanahan, who rarely run no huddle... http://blog.chron.com/ultimatetexans/2012/09/sugar-huddle-can-be-deployed-to-disrupt-defense/ Kubiak system still attack defenses from deep to short, to start games like Shanahan. The thing with Kubiak is once he get a 2 score lead, instead of keeping his foot on the pedal for the entire game like Kyle does, Kubiak will switch it up and attack defense from short to deep, while running the ball more, trying to control the clock. He gets real conservative with his play calling (run, run, pass) at times. But since we are going to run more short passes and actually play to our guys strengths now, we should start converting more 3rd downs. Kubiak still brings a good playbook with him and he also call plays to set up other plays, especially off of play action, and we all know Joe is arguably the best play action QB in the NFL, so hopefully that would off set his Cam Cameronish type playcalling at times, at least that's what I hope.
  2. Here's my favorite quote from the comment section.... rickastleydancemoves says: "Me being a Texans fan, let me tell Raven fans what to expect: Run on first down, run on second down. If it’s third and short, play action bootleg to Torrey Smith. If its third and long, draw with Ray Rice." Bottomline, I'll still prefer Shanahan as our OC, cause he's the better playcaller and he scheme to get his receivers open. But I'll take Kubiak, cause he's probably the best option left outside of Shanahan's. Plus we still will be getting a dynamic playbook with Kubiak and he's also knows how to play to his players strength as well. It's just his playcalling that's suspect. Plus his health could be an issues too. But still, Kubiak is an offensive mastermind and we need him or Kyle as our OC if we want a shot at a explosive offensive.
  3. Well there we go, the countdown to judgement day officially begins... The team better not blunder this move. If they do, it'll set our offense back 3 years at least. Let's get Kyle and his dynamic playbook here and keep it for years to come, even if he do end up getting a HC job someday, at least we'll still have his system and schemes.
  4. Couldn't have said it better myself.
  5. Harbs stock is dropping with me. It seems like after we won the Super Bowl, Harbs started stroking his own ego. I've defended this guy to the fullest, but if we hire Hostler, I over this guy. I hate how he has a my way or the highway mentality with the players, but he's willing to jump in the car with his buddies on the coaching staff. I'll wait and see how it all plays out, but I got a feeling it's going to be John's boy and not Kyle.
  6. This is starting to become laughable at this point. The team is taking this long to decide whether to hirer a young innovative offensive mind or hirer a guy who has accomplish absolutely nothing. They messed up by letting Shanahan walk out the door after the first interview, now you have to take days to figure out whether you want this guy over Hostler? lmao! It's like the team is trying to drag this thing out, so all the talented candidates get hired by other teams, so we will have to hire Hostler by default. I don't care how this plays out though... If Hostler end up being our OC, I'm done with Harbs. Straight up. He's taking this team full of choir boys and golf buddy thing too far. Kyle should have been offered a contract after the first interview, so the team can start working on installing his system as quickly as possible. Instead we have to wait it out because Harbs is trying to get his boy the job by any means necessary. This whole situation is hilarious. Here's another article on Kyle's system: http://www.hogshaven.com/2012/12/20/3788122/kyle-shanahan-adapting-play-action-post-concept-fit-rgiii-cousins The guy call plays with a purpose. There's a method to his madness. If we hire Hostler, I guarantee we will see the same offense in 2014, that we saw the last 6 years. Look at what he did with the 49ers. Same thing,, run, run, pass. No creativity what so ever. Same old vanilla offense... http://blogs.mercurynews.com/kawakami/2007/10/07/unless-the-49ers-demote-jim-hostler-theyre-just-giving-up/ I'm losing a lot of respect for Harbaugh. You run all the outspoken players out of the locker room, whether they perform or not, but you keep your buddies... I mean coaches even if they clearly aren't capable of doing the job you assigned them to. I know I'm ranting, but this is the most hilarious thing EVER! You have one of the best offensive minds in football waiting to hear back from you, but you're making him wait because you contemplating hiring... dare I say it... Jim Hostler? Rolmao! I'm sorry, but our team has no idea what it takes to build a good offense. It's been this way since 1999. Watch they hire Hostler and not Kyle. We always put ourselves in position to fail on offense. We know how this is going to turn out. I've seen this movie before...
  7. Well if we hire Shanahan, we're going to see which is the real Joe Flacco. Is he the inconsistent guy you've mentioned or is he the guy we saw during our title run. If Joe can't succeed in Shanahan's system, then something's wrong. Our offense will have defenses on their heels all game in Shanahan's system. The O-line would drastically improve in the passing game becasue the ball is going to be coming out of Joe's hands quicker, which means the lineman don't have to hold their blocks as long. It's so many things a QB can do in Kyle's system. All I know is we need to hire this guy and stop fooling around. The suspense is killing me. lol.
  8. I'm on the fence about Flacco's accuracy. On one hand, he's completed under 60% the last 3 seasons, but during his first 3 seasons, he completed over 60%. I'm leaning more towards him being an accurate QB, then not. I mean he sure looked accurate throwing the ball during our title run, when he had more than one good WR to throw to. and a O-line that helped the backs produce in the running game. He was making back shoulder throws, putting the ball where only his receivers could make a play on the ball, throwing it in between 2 or 3 defenders. The average QB can't make the kind of throws he made. Also Joe throws deep the majority of the time. Deep throws are completed at a lower rate than short passes. So if Joe is going to be throwing more short passes, his completion perception should increase as well. So we won't know how accurate Joe is until we bring in a system that incorporate short throws into the equation.
  9. What don't you like about Kyle's system? It does everything it can to try to help the QB be productive. The only thing that you could possible criticize is the lack of the no huddle. Other than that, it's as dynamic as it gets. The Packers run a similar type system and if their system can make Flynn look like a decent QB, I'm sure Kyle system would make Joe look like league MVP. A good offensive system is more valuable than some players imo. Did y'all not read the articles I posted earlier? In one of them, it says Kyle doesn't run a typically west coast offense. He run a reverse/air coyell/Pistol offense type west coast offense. Meaning his system attacks defense with the deep pass, to set up the short passes and the running game? How does that not fit Joe? Joe strengths is throwing the deep ball, the only change for Joe would be him having to throw more short routes and over the middle in Kyles scheme, versus rarely throwing short or over the middle in Cams or Caldwells Air coyell system. So I think Joe would put up big numbers in Shannahan's system. I mean if you don't have faith in Joe to throw short, then maybe we should be looking for a new QB and not an OC from your point of view. Now Kyle being stubborn, I can't argue that. But I'll rather hire a guy that knows his x's and o's, and can call plays based off the flow of the game than to hire a guy who's learning on the job as he go, which is going to require a lot of growing pains. EDIT: Also I just read that Kirby is out of the running. So it looks like it's going to be Kyle as OC... Atleast I hope so.
  10. Yeah, the wait is killing me. I know we like to do things the hard way, but come on. It's either hire one of the best young offensive minds in the game or hire someone who is still building their resume and learning how to be an OC on the fly. Here's another article on Shanahan's system: http://httr24-7.com/film-room/the-redskins-need-a-tavon-austin-to-expand-the-offense-in-2013/ Kyle's system alone would upgrade our offense more than any player signing ever would. If we hire Hostler, that would be a face palm moment...
  11. I really don't understand what the wait is for... If the team want an attacking type offense, then Shanahan is the guy. I mean he can scheme to his players strengths and he's one of the best play callers in the league. Here's a article on Shanahans system... http://httr24-7.com/blog/a-crash-course-in-the-pistol-formation-west-coast-offense-and-rg3-as-a-passer/ Our offense would be unstoppable if we ran this system. Motioning and shifting guys to help the QB read the defense better. Option routes by the receivers, Pistol formation, west coast route tree, mix in with a little bit of air coyell. Not to mention Kyle is arguably one of the best play callers in the game. I just don't get it. If you're a team like the Ravens that don't like to spend money on offense to begin with, you would think that they would bring in a guy who has a offensive system that can do more with less. Why hire Kirby or anyone else who not only has to get use to calling plays (like Jim Caldwell), but also someone who doesn't have a proven system that can be productive, regardless of the players. I don't know about everyone else but I think if we don't hire Shanahan we will be back at square one come September. We saw a glimpse of greatness from Joe during last year playoff run. It's time the team wake up and bring a guy that could be considered an offensive mastermind (like Shanahan) and not a guy that's a hard worker, a good motivator, has a strong work ethic, etc., like Kirby and the rest of these guys that's in consideration.
  12. I'm sure John and Kyle would butt heads as well though. We all know that Harbs is stubborn and Kyle (like his dad) is the same way. Hopefully the FO can look pass this cause I still think Shanahan makes the most sense. Even though I hate the fact that he rarely runs the no huddle, out of all the guys the Ravens is trying to choose from, Shanahan is the only one who has a modern scheme that does alot of things before the snap and it's a west coast type offense, so we will be using a lot of short routes, to set up the deep ball. Imagine the ravens running alot of slants over the middle like the Redskins ran? That will take alot of pressure off the O-line and running game, cause some of those short routes is an extension of the running game. Then once defenders start putting more players in the box, we can go over the top. And we haven't even talked about the stretch plays the Redskins ran, or the rub routes their WR's ran to free up a teammate. That's what this offense has been missing. I mean regardless of who we bring in, John is still going to play a control the ball type offense anyway, so the no huddle isn't in the Ravens future anytime soon. So bring in Kyle and HIS dynamic offense, and his play calling ability and let Joe and company do their thing. Shanahan's system is known for turning a bunch of unheard of guys into pro bowl caliber players, so Joe and Torrey hopefully won't have to do everything on their own next year, because Kyle's system is going to get other players involved. To be fair, no matter who we hire, if the team wins and the offense does well, the OC is going to get alot of buzz for a HC job regardless. That's the price teams pay for winning. The lesser teams will try to emulate what the winners has already done, by hiring their coaches and FO guys. The same with the players. The players that get the most recognition and huge contracts from other teams are usually guys from winning teams. So I think the team need to hire the best guy and worry about everything else later.
  13. Please Ozzie sign Kyle as our OC. If you really want to build the offense the right way, it's start with a good scheme and a guy that can keep defense on their heels, and Kyle can do just that.
  14. Please for the love of football hire Kubiak or Shanahan. The rest of these guys they are considering will continue to have our offense stuck in netural. At least these two guys have a history of playing to their players strengths and they also call plays early in the game to set up other plays later. If we're not going to hire any one off the Packers, Saints, Seahawks, 49ers, or Broncos staff, then Kubiak or Shanahan is the obvoius choice. Why take so long to hire one of these guys, when it's clear they are the head of the class (creative wise) when it comes to play callers?
