  1. This is surprising to me.

Despite reportedly being very high on him, Ravens have released LB Steven Means from IR w/ an inj settlement

What's the benefit of releasing him? All the hype Ozzie in particular gave to him couldn't have been totally made up. There must have been some truth to it so why cut the guy now? It's not like there is a limit to the amount of guys you can put on IR. Why not just wait til next year and see how he looks then?

  2. Let's think about it. Have we gotten much better? Our secondary is still suspect. Running defense has taken a step back. Random pass rush. WR core is sad. Top 2 picks aren't gonna contribute much. And we're still injury prone.

Now look at Denver. They haven't gotten worse.

    I'm scared.

It's not how you start but how you finish. As a Ravens fan we all should know that. I'm concerned about week 1 too but gradually guys like Perriman, Maxx, Camp, maybe even Urban will come back and we'll round into form around mid season like we always do.

Don' be such a downer. All teams have issues. Look at the Packers. Who would have thought a month ago that WR would be a concern for that team but now it is with Nelson gone for the year and Cobb hurt. Then you have the Steelers and all their issues on defense not to mention suspensions and injuries on offense.

I could go on but hopefully you get my point.

  3. Myers will be taking KO's place and Urschel will take Zuttah's place at Center next year.

Urschel will take over for KO. Zuttah is fine. I don't understand why some people want to run him out of town. He is the perfect center for our team. Is he a Pro Bowler? No but he is solid and has a nice manageable salary. He's not going anywhere.

  4. They must not appear since I'm not registered. Those links say I don't have permission. Thanks.

  5. I go on the eagles forum and I hear they're dominating us.I come back to our forum and I read we're dominating them and Camp is a stud.I need to know what's really going on.

About their forums...am I missing something? I can't find normal Eagles talk thread. I see "Other NFL Teams" and a section on Eagles news but nothing else. Am I just blind and not seeing it?

  6. Like I said..

this isn't a fluke..we need an upgrade opposite jimmy. Also enough of the kendrick lewis crap. he;s an average player.

And average is an upgrade over what we had. But I agree he can't be as good as some people seem to think when you look at what we are paying him which is next to nothing for a starting FS.

  7. Frank Walker , Foxworth> Gilbert

Gilbert to me has the makings of the worst kind of bust...the guy who fails because he just doesn't care (aka Jamarcus Russel). some guys just can't play at this level. Their failures are easier to deal with as a fan. But from comments he has made it seems like he is just going throught the motions. Yet another excellent draft pick by the Brownies.

  8. I think a lot of us, myself included, look at Perriman as the replacement for Torrey. While that is clearly the intent the more I think about it why can't Waller? He's big, tall, and fast. Just tell him to run fast in a straight line. Defenses have to repect a guy with his measurables. Bam...replacement for Torrey.

  9. Terrence Brooks YAY! I really really really wanna see him play vs the Eagles.  I and , a few others on here, have really high hopes for him.

I know that he played with Patellar Tendon straps before so I hope he is able to keep his knees healthy.

I doubt he'll play in the game. He just came back. Even if we ignore the injury he is coming back from, all the other players have a couple weeks of training camp before the first game. I would expect the same for Brooks. He might play in game 3 but more likely he will see extensive time in game 4 when all the key guys don't play at all.

  10. Here comes some much needed optimism.

Luckily we're deep at WR. Not so much speed but I think our offense can survive without it...

Here's how it's going to go down. Perriman will struggle early in the season. Everyone will be freaking out. He'll have a breakout performance mid season and not look back. He'll become an X factor come playoff time.

We have a lot of guys that play the position if that's what you mean. I wouldn't say we're stacked talent wise. I would say Aiken is pretty good but I don't necessarily want him starting. Meanwhile, Brown and Camp are also injury prone and Brown hasn't lived up to his potential after a good rookie year. After that the position is even murkier.

I believe we can get by fine without Perriman but it will be because of our run game and TEs picking up the slack.

  11. We've seen teams have incredible success with QBs like Tyrod recently. The problem for those teams is it lasted exactly 1 season before the QB either got hurt (RGIII) or teams figured out they don't actually throw all that well without the gimmick of the read option limiting the defense (Kaepernick).

  12. The thing with Waller to keep in mind is that while he didn't have many catches in college due to the offense they ran he should be a better blocker than your typical rookie WR. There is value in that and although he apparently hasn't played special teams before it should help make the transition to gunner a bit easier. I think he makes the team regardless but if he can be effective on special teams he could see playtime on offense this year.

  13. On Maxx ...

The "Not-so-good": he's clearly a work in progress and we should not expect a lot out of him early on.

The "Good": once he ramps up to the speed of the NFL game and gets a little more physically mature, he's going to be dangerous.

I wouldn't be surprised if Maxx is the #3 TE a lot this year especially if Trestman keeps up with his desire to run the football. Boyle looks like a much better blocker than Maxx at this point.

Maxx will be a good player but he probably needs a year not unlike Gillmore last year.

  14. They've done a poor job of drafting and developing depth, it seems.

Their GM should have been fired for the disaster that was their backup running back position last year. Bell gets hurt and suddenly you're siging a guy off the street to basically start a playoff game. Why are the other RBs even on the roster then if they can't play? Colbert really dropped the ball there. I'm glad he did but that was embarrasing last year for them.

  15. i hated jesse james in the draft process and was sick of THESE boards hyping him up, yeah hes 6 foot 7 and comes from a pro style offense, so what? he still looks like a garbage football player just from a quick film study. he plays far too slow to be effective in the NFL, his hands are nothing spectacular, and if he cant outjump a guy with ease then he wont be catching the ball.

maxx is the polar opposite of james. his size isnt gonna draw your attention, doesnt have a massive wingspan, but the boy is a natural football player, he has the talent to turn mediocre TE measurables into elite production with incredible hands and ball skills, and toughness, and general athleticism.

jesse james is the ANTI-TE, he is essentially ed dickson

I can't wait for tonights game to see how Nick Boyle does. The Steelers passed over him in the 5th round in favor of Jesse James. It's way to early to tell but my gut tells me Boyle will be the better player.
