So Terrance West is our starting RB. Never would have guessed that!
I don't have any problem with our first 3 picks. My only problem is we still have EIGHT more picks and there is no way all those guys are making the team. I know Ozzie said he tried to trade back into the 2nd and 3rd rounds and I really wish he was able to because I see us having to cut multiple draft picks come August. Hopefully Ozzie can trade one or two of them and get picks in next years draft.
Oh man Tunsil and Bosa both available. I'm so torn on who I would rather have if that happened. With Tunsil I see another Ogden situation where he plays LG for his first year before taking over at LT but he has some durability concerns and off the field issues. But as much as I like Bosa I think there will be some nice options in the 2nd or 3rd round for pass rushers whereas the drop off on tackles seems a bit extreme especially if we want a guy who can make Monroe work to keep his job.
The Ravens trading down does make some sense. We have 3 key positions we need to address early in this draft. They are pass rusher, corner, and LT. A trade down and picking up the 33rd pick, which is top of the 2nd round and pretty much a first rounder anyway, would allow us to do that.
In Mayocks draft the Dolphins took Lawson a couple picks before us but if we could trade back and actually get a guy like Lawson or Conklin at LT there should be good options at the other 2 positions sitting there for us in the 2nd.
I'd prefer we not take the risk by trading back and getting stuck in limbo a bit like what happened in Mayock's mock but the reward is there if everything falls into place (sort of like when Jimmy fell to us in the 1st and Torrey in the 2nd).
And 6th it is! I was holding out hope for the Chargers winning but figured they'd let us down again.
I was thinking that too but then I realized that their loss keeps the Patriots from the #1 seed so it's not all bad.
At this point all I want from this season is to get Perriman on the field and he plays very well to give our receiving corp some hope heading into next year. It would also be nice if Maxx Williams played better than a 5th round pick from a small school.
Pernell McPhee is doing pretty well in Chicago as well.
It's a real shame that he didn't have 1 more year on his rookie contract. He would have been huge this year to offset the loss of Suggs and I think there's a good chance we would then sign him long term especially with Suggs coming off another major injury and not getting any younger.
It ended up as a trade for easton so hopefully we may still get the pick
I saw that too. That's weird. I know I saw that they released him but I guess they changed their minds once the Vikings came calling.
I don't want to see anyone on this board complaining about Tucker's cap hit when we sign him to a much deserved extension this offseason. Whatever we pay him will be well worth it.
That could invalidate our compensation.
True but the compensation was minimal to begin with. Maybe we can put him on the practice squad now. We need all the insurance we can get on the interior of the o-line with both KO and Yanda pending free agents.
Niners released Easton the undrafted center we traded to them after training camp.
The Patriots traded for Akeem Ayers in the middle of last season as well. He ended up helping them. Another example.
Yeah but that was mid season once teams knew where they were. The Titans knew they weren't going anywhere and I believe Ayers was a pending free agent so it made sense to trade him and get something for the future. It's week 1. No team is going to trade away anyone of value this early.
I think we will run a lot more 4-3 now with Suggs gone but a lot will depend on if Z Smith is ready or not. I have a feeling he still needs a bit more time so more 4-3 gets our best players on the field.
So the Giants cut Asa Jackson already. That was fast.
There is no guarantee he sticks around. Indy might only be kicking the tires on him and release him. I can't remember who but I know we've had guys claimed but by the end of the year they were back on our practice squad. Thanks for the update.
That's a shame... Wasted draft pick. He definitely looked a bit in over his head at times but
Would have liked to see what Castillo could have done with him given enough time.
But congrats to him and best of luck on the next chapter of his career.
But Will Hill is a former Giant. The Giants just cut former Ravens McClain, Brown and Miles. Now they claim Asa Jackson. I guess they figured one of these former Ravens have to pan out, especially with Will Hill having success.
Im pretty sure Spagz had a hand in getting Asa.
LOL! That is awesome. How bad must he be to not make their terrible secondary?Steelers just waived their 4th rounder CB Doran Grant
Losing Myers sucks but Jensen has really improved and gives us the backup once KO leaves that the team was probably hoping Myers would be.
The Myers pick still confuses me anyway. He doesn't seem like a zone blocking style player but more of a power scheme anyway.
It is a 7th rounder...the same we got for an undrafted rookie. Ozzie does it again.dallas cowboys just traded a conditional pick for seattles christine michael.
The Jah Reid era finally ends.
No surprise with Jackson. But as others have said PR is an issue.
Interesting that we cut a 5th round pick, he must have been really terrible. Or he'll end up on the practice squad.
It's pretty silly though that we hung onto Reid all this time when he was terrible and cut him once he becomes decent.
Cutting Myers has shocked a lot of people but the guy who took his spot, Jensen, was in a similar spot a few years ago. He was a raw prospect who needed time. However, with Jensen he ended up on IR instead of us needing to outright cut him. I don't think we'll have any problems getting Myers through waivers and onto the practice squad.
Now Jensen is a pretty valuable player since he can play all 5 positions pretty well.
i am shocked about myers getting cut, have the ravens ever done that?
Back in '09 with Devon Drew a 5th round TE.
Asa is the most frustrating Raven in recent memory and that is before factoring in his injury histroy that makes Camp look like Brett Favre.
The general poor play from all the bubble players has me convinced a player or two not on the team right now will make the 53. I'm not talking anything major like a trade just someone else's bubble player.
Just checked. They think their pass rush will destroy Flacco and that our offense is nothing with Kubes. They dont even consider us a tough game. Makes sense they dont like us though.
You would think they would have learned their lesson by now. Guess not.

Releasing Forsett might be another example of a team not wanting a veteran on the opening day roster who's contract is then guaranteed. They may look to bring him back later.
