  1. To be fair they are the Browns so they have to overpay to get anyone to sign there. If any other team not names the Raiders was offering the same who in their right mind would go to Cleveland. Even the Jaguars seem to be on the right track now.
  2. 32 years old seems a bit high myself until you look at what the Bengals have gotten out of guys like Terrance Newman and Pacman Jones. I thought Newman was "old" about 3 or 4 years ago and yet he is still playing well. Plus Williams would ideally just be a nickel in our defense so the age isn't a concern. Now the real question is how much is a nickel corner worth? 5m probably is too high but we'll see.
  3. I think the plan right now is for Will Hill to start at FS and we give Elam another shot at SS. If Elam struggles again than once Brooks is ready to go maybe he slides in at FS and Hill moves to SS. The point is we have options with guys currently on the roster. For as much grief as our safeties have gotten recently it was our corners that killed us last year.
  4. Everyone undervalues the kicker until they need him to make a game winning kick.
  5. Anyone else concerned by Tucker only getting a 2nd round tender? I would give up a 2nd round pick for him in a heartbeat.
  6. And Jordan Cameron wants out and he is a free agent. He has a history of concussions but that might mean he would come cheap. He would be an excellent pickup if Pitta's career is over.
  7. That's who I was referring to. A suspension for Brady would give them a reason to play the new guy or else they will eventually have the same situation that is going on in Denver right now.
  8. A suspension of any length might end up helping the Patriots. Tom's own father said it will not end well for Tom in New England because at some point they will want to move on probably before Tom does. Things would get really interesting if that QB they drafted in the 2nd round recently played well during the suspension. It could be another Bledsoe/Brady type thing.
  9. The people who immediately said, "He couldn't do it in 90 seconds" either didn't stop and think about it or are Patriot homers. It's clear that something like this doesn't happen on a whim. It would have to be planned in order to avoid detection. Apparently there are cameras practically everywhere as a result of 911. If it was planned than it was practiced. If it was practiced than 90 seconds is more than enough.
  10. Only problem is his answer can be the same and still make sense. It could be his routine...an incredibly suspicious routine but a valid routine nonetheless.
  11. There's a lot of debate as to whether the ball boy could deflate the 12 footballs in 90 seconds is silly. Of course he could. But that's not the point I want to make. How about why are you going to the bathroom at that exact moment? Everything in carefully scheduled. You do the same thing at the same time every week and you choose to go to the bathroom while you are taking the footballs out to the field. I don't know about anyone else but that seems goofy. I would go either before or after...you know when I don't have two large bags of footballs to deal with. Crazy huh?
  12. The more we learn the angrier I get. Two things had better happen. 1) Seattle better beat the Patriots 2) A minimum Bountygate level of punishment including suspensions and multiple high draft picks. The NFL certainly has the ability to do their own statistical analysis. While this sort of thing would qualify as circumstantial evidence, enough circumstantial evidence can be enough to get someone convicted in the court of law. I see no reason why it can't convict someone like Belicheat given his record. He better not get off just because they don't find any hard evidence.
  13. I heard also that the 12th ball was for the kicker. They must have one on the sideline for when they are practicing into the net right since the K balls aren't in their possession?
  14. That punishment is only marginally more severe than what the Saints got for Bountygate. I'm really curious to see what the NFL does. Repeat offenders are generally treated more severely. Belicheat absolutely deserves a suspension but I think it should start immediately. He should not be coaching in the Super Bowl. And they should lose multiple 1st round draft picks.
  15. It's plausible that they started doing this after their blowout loss to the Chiefs. Respected football people were questioning if Brady might be done. It's entirely possible.
  16. I remember thinking to myself during the game that Tucker wasn't getting the usual distance on his kickoffs. They were barely getting to the goal line instead of through the end zone. I wrote it off because it was in Foxborough in January. It was cold. Now I'm not so sure. On the bright side now there is nothing the Patriots can do to remove the asterisk next to their Super Bowl titles. You just know everyone was ready to put Spygate behind us if they won another Super Bowl. Now that will never happen. They will forever be known as cheaters which makes me smile a bit.
  17. One good thing about Trestman is he should be here awhile and if not it is only because Joe threw for 7,000 yards and 60 TDs and we won the Super Bowl.
  18. Gase must have cooties or something.
  19. This year he was but I thought in 2013 when Cutler got hurt they ran the ball more with McCown at QB and their offense was insane.
  20. I just hope he doesn't get too pass happy.
  21. He's not there yet but he is approaching bust territory especially when you consider we have slightly higher expectations out of our 1st round defensive players. Look no further than CJ Mosely to see what our expectations are. At least the safety that went next to the Jaguars hasn't been too good either from what I've heard. That would have hurt even more if we passed on a good safety for Elam. As it stands though rookie safeties haven't played that well in the NFL lately. I remember everyone raving about Kenny Vaccaro and he's really struggled too.
  22. Cary would play some press. It comes down to what the coaches ask him to do. But I was making the comparison over more than just his size. Cary was also a guy we plucked off of someone's practice squad who became a solid player for us.
  23. Hopefully Melvin can keep it up. So far he reminds me of Cary Williams.
  24. I have a feeling McPhee will be the next Adalius Thomas. Some bad team will sign him to be the guy but without guys like Suggs, Ngata, and Doom occupying so much attention he won't do much. Maybe he proves me wrong but right now I think the Thomas comparison is spot on.
  25. I liked how he seemed to have good awareness when the ball was in the air. Thats all I ask for at this point.
