  1. But that was only part of his argument. He also went into detail about what each team did in the offseason to improve. The Bengals for example in his opinion did little to improve their biggest weakness which was pass rush and they are unlikely to get much out of their draft class this year since they drafted two OT that will be nothing more than backups as rookies.
  2. Yeah he looked terrible but it was only the 1st preseason game and he's not expected to be anything more than the #3 TE for them this year. He might still turn into a decent player.
  3. Let's not get too excited about Cook. First, I believe he is currently injured and still working his way back which is why he is still available. Even factoring in the injury, the guy has the size (6'2") and pedigree (2nd round pick) that teams covet at a very important position and yet he's still bounced around a bit. Don't the 49ers want him back? I just have a feeling he either isn't all that good or his injury is a serious concern.
  4. Tucker's aggressiveness is actually a good thing IMO. If you look at the play the Steeler kicker got hurt on it looked like he was going halfway for the tackle. What do NFL players always say? Its when you play not to get hurt is when you get hurt. Tucker won't prance around and flail like other kickers. He will square up and attacked the ball carrier.
  5. In the short term Perriman needs to replace Torrey. We need that deep threat for our offense to function properly and play to Joe's strengths. I agree Perriman should become more than that eventually but for his rookie season replacing the production of a player who just signed a $40 million contract is pretty good.
  6. Seven is high but they have done it before. I think they went thin at d-line as a result that year. It goes back to what sounds like coaches speak but is really true...they try to keep the best 53 men. Sometimes that means going light at one position and heavy in another. It's not like the 53 men that start week 1 is the final roster. There are plenty of more roster changes to come any given year. Sometimes it boils down to keeping that 7th receiver for 1 week before releasing him and trying to get him through waivers since other teams are less likely to claim him now that the season has started.
  7. I would be okay with that. Afterall, lets face facts. All he needs to do to adequately replace Torrey is run really fast in a straight line. Torrey never developed much more than that. If I recall correctly Joe even more or less called him out on it sometime last year.
  8. If we carry 7 WR then I think Waller is a lock to make the team. There is just too much upside with him. It will get interesting if we only carry 6 WR though since Waller likely won't contribute much on special teams. We all should know by now how big a deal that is for Harbaugh when building the bottom of his depth chart.
  9. I hear Satan's pretty good. We should sign him first. Less of a distraction.
  10. I remember when they drafted him that they liked him so much they considered taking him in the 2nd round but we took Jernigan instead. To get him in the 4th was huge. Too bad he got hurt last year. As good as he might be this year he would be even further along now.
  11. I wonder if Marlon does much on special teams. I'm sure he probably does. I say that because looking at the WRs on the roster and comparing them to each other Brown and Waller seem to fit the same role as big red zone guys. I don't think Brown is in danger of getting cut but if the team figures injuries will be an issue it should only help Waller's chance of making the team as the 7th WR.
  12. People seem overly worried about Schaub for some reason but never seemed too concerned when Tyrod was one play away from starting for us. Schaub isn't the player he once was and even then he was only slightly above average but I personally like him as our backup. He's experienced, is a proven passer which Tryod isn't, and the offense doesn't have to dramatically change everything if Joe gets hurt.
  13. I noted that during the game as well so when the first reports of deflated footballs came out it all seemed to make sense until I realized the kicking balls and game balls are handled differently.
  14. I'm pretty sure you have to be on the PUP list before training camp starts.
  15. I hate how we're getting dragged back into this whole mess. It makes us look bad since Harbaugh said we had nothing to do with tipping the Colts.
  16. Well we should know the answer to that by the end of the season. If he can't cut it in Buffalo with the poor QBs he's competing against and that talented offensive roster than we aren't missing anything.
  17. We still managed two pro bowl caliber players in Williams and Wagner plus another starter in Juice. Getting 3 starters in a draft is generally pretty good. Plus we'll see this year what we can finally get from KLM after two consecutive season ending injuries. The wiffs on the first 2 picks are what everyone focuses on and rightfully so since that could have been a really good draft if Elam and Brown worked out. However, if the draft order was different and we took Wagner in the 1st, Williams in the 2nd, and Juice in the 3rd I don't think people would be complaining as much.
  18. I agree with this a lot. He had the misfortune of coming in just as Ed left. As if that wasn't enough pressure he was then asked to do a lot more coverage than he had ever done. He was a box safety in college. I feel like if he could have had a year or two to team with Ed in the back end things would have worked out a whole lot different. Not only would he have actually had someone to mentor him but his transition to the NFL would have been a lot more smooth with Ed handling a lot of the mental aspect of the game freeing Elam up to just play.
  19. Yeah you're right. I was off by a few years. lol. It was OC. Still glad he's gone though. I must have been thinking Rex Ryan for some reason.
  20. I've reaped the Bobby Engram praise before. He has to be better than the guy he replaced. I can't remember his name but I can picture his face. I remember he got ticked off when we didn't promote him from WR coach to head coach (we chose Harbaugh obviously) so he left.
  21. He played well enough all things considered. He actually reminded me of Jimmy's rookie season during that game. He was in decent position but a HOF quarterback was just too good. Melvin jumped from #4 to #2 because he is an outside corner and can't play the slot.
  22. Does anyone else find it interesting that Brady supposedly destroys old cell phones for security purposes and yet he doesn't even bother to do it himself? He had his assistant do it. It is just yet another tiny little thing that doesn't add up added to the pile that is now about the size of the Empire State Building.
  23. It's not fair because it's not the players fault but nothing annoys me more in sports than players who constantly get injured. In limited action Camp has been impressive though so I think he's basically guaranteed at least one more year. I think he really could have made a difference for us last year in a few games.
  24. I have a hard time seeing Lewis-Moore making it considering how loaded we are on the d-line. It's a shame because the guy has a ton of talent but he is also coming off 3 consecutive major injuries (2 ACL and 1 achilles... I think). He has to be rusty considering he basically hasn't played real football since college. If he starts out slow will the team really keep him around over a guy like Tyson who is proven? I'm not sure. I hope I'm wrong though.
  25. I am very much in favor of this developmental league that has been talked about recently. Anything for more football.
