Well, here we go again. Ravens have won four straight against the Steelers. Harbaugh does a great job getting his team ready for the Steelers. Records and home field are meaningless at this point. I cannot see the future so I am not going to predict a winner. My brief take on the game:  Bell will get his yards from scrimmage. The key will be whether the Raven defense can cause Big Ben to turn the ball over. Flacco probably needs to stretch the field a few times. The Ravens will need to establish at least some running game to make that work. Interesting view on the Steelers...during the five game winning streak, Ben has not actually played his best. He has not been in great rhythm for most of the last three games...just enough to win. However, the much maligned defense is greatly improved. Granted, we have not played offensive power-houses but we are getting way more QB pressure, sacks and a few turnovers. Teams haven't scored much on us during this streak. We have a couple young guys, Artie Burns and Russ Cockerel that have grown into their roles. Shazier has become a genuine stud. Bud Dupree is finally healthy and is becoming  what we had hoped Jarvis Jones would be. (Jones is mostly a bust). It is no small loss if Stephan Tuitt is out. He's a beast. Other than that, we are surprisingly healthy for this time of the season. That's my quick fan scouting report. One of us is going to have something extra to celebrate on Christmas. But in any case, Merry Christmas Raven's fans. I hope you and your families are blessed in all the ways that really matter this holiday season!

Yeah, you'd think that by now people would give up on predicting the outcome of Ravens / Steelers games LOL. All we know for certain is that we will all be very entertained, and one of the fan bases will be very happy afterwards, and the other likely moving on to 2017 draft mode.

    Merry Xmas either way!

Yes please be very afraid of Waller, campanaro, Aiken..

All highly sought after players that we had to fight very hard to keep the past few years

/s... for the lower iq crowd

Actually, they probably should be afraid of Waller if he ever gets more than a dozen or so snaps...he's been showing flashes of beastliness at times. Pretty excited to see what he can do given a full time role.

Fly are you getting the feeling everyone else is leaning towards a Flacco less Raven's team?  We are tired of the excuses.  Harbaugh /Flacco era is nearing a close. Both average at what they actually do.

No, I'm not getting that feeling, its just the same people same the same tired things over and over again :D

Ever since joe got the big paycheck and like you said had kids he got worse... I can hear his wife now....

"please joe be careful, don't do anything foolish...it's only a game after all....and when the game is over hurry home so you can watch

the kids and do the dishes so I can go out with the girls"

I keep hearing people say this ridiculous crap....even if it were true, which it isn't, I would put my family over my job too. You say that as if its a bad thing.

Im so sick of unrealistic  ravens  fans exactly how bad must flacco be before  the faithful  criticize him?

What planet do you live on? Flacco has gotten criticized by everyone and their grandmother all year long. Not making ridiculous statements =/= "not criticizing him"

All of this speculating on this has made me go back and re-watched it for myself.

It "appears" to me that the gameplan was to run out the clock as much as possible prior to the last 2:00 of the 4th quarter with 2 TO's remaining and with the hopes of both kicking the FG to make it 23-30 and then, to try to recover the onside kick to possible tie the game with a TD.

Personally, I would have preferred that they hurried up without wasting all of that time.

Like we were talking about before Mili, we need to get smarter, starting with the coaches.

That somebody was me and I stand by it.

I see plenty of space in general. Perhaps my perspective is based upon my love for mobile QB's who wouldn't have waited for the pocket to collapse like that before taking off?  Any way you see it..it's bad!

The announcers were laughing at us because there were four Patriots fighting over the sack. That play was a three step drop, there is no way in hell that four defenders should be in the backfield that fast. Forget a scrambling QB, we needed a teleporting QB on that play

It's 6 on 6 or should be at least. I think Juice looks like he was blocking cuz it doesn't like he was sneaking out to run a route.

If there was more time, Flacco could have maybe attempted a throw to Pitta in the back corner of the endzone.

My bad, you are correct, 6 vs 6.

Regardless, hooollyyy crap! How does that even happen?? sigh...

So you feel that our inconsistency on offense rests on the shoulders of the "coaching" staff and not with the "personnel?"

Well, I hate to take the easy way out here, but it isn't an either/or thing. I think we could absolutely get more talented at some key positions. I'm not proposing that our WRs are top of the line, same with TE and RB.

What I am saying though is that collectively,  there is enough talent there  to form a dangerous offense. Sheer quantity of "good but not great" players should mean that every week, one or two of those guys should be having a big game. But they don't. Why is that? They aren't being put in position to do it. Running the ball 4 times the entire first half isn't being aggressive, it's being reckless. How is the passing game supposed to take off when the defense knows that nearly every offensive play being called is going to be a three receiver set and the pass is going to be essentially a long handoff?

Then we see absolutely idiotic execution, which does nothing to help. Just look at that picture codizzle posted earlier. Ridiculous.

We need to get smarter, it starts with the coaching. In their game plans, and in teaching players.

Here's a game to play.. can you spot how many glaring problems there are in this one screenshot

    (ninkovich sack play)

    LOL!!

Triple teaming one guy while Wagner has three rushers crashing in on him, doubling up the guy behind Flacco while Nankovich comes in untouched...I mean it absolutely blows my mind that six blockers vs five pass rushers, and we find a way to let three guys come in untouched. And our receivers STILL find a way to get blanketed!

So many good points about this horrible effort at NFL caliber football.

The Tucker onsides was a complete debacle.  Fine, if you want to go for the onsides, do it!  Knock off the flaming river dance preliminary.  Harbs ain't fooling nobody with that.

Flacco needs to lead receivers.  Perriman and Wallace can fly, yet time and time again slowing down to let the ball catch up to them.  Mile High Miracle never happens with these pathetic throws.  Zero touch on throws to the RB to boot.  Seems like Dixon and West are trying to catch 90 mph fastballs from 5 yards away.  Of course the balls are a foot behind them to ice the cake.

Harbaugh needs to understand that he is not a legendary coach because of the SB47 result.  He needs to coach this team like his job depends on it because it does.  Sick and tired of the jogging to the line while we trail and zero input from the coach to clean this mess up.

Vanilla play calling maybe because Joe doesn't want to study the plays long enough to make the team better.  Much easier to count his cash and play with his kids then play winning RAVENS football.  Bring on Mallett!  We may lose a few while he learns the big leagues but at least he'll give a Crap!

I agree. Flacco clearly doesn't give a crap, all he wants to do is count his money and play with his kids. Thank you for this intelligent post, I'm sure the homers will disagree with you though.

What was with that? That killed us towards the end. He's not making audibles and he's getting too worried about the protection like he has all season. He's not being patient like he's been through the years

Being patient would have got him murdered last night. The protection wasn't there for him to wait for people to get open, like he was able to last week.

So, the "talent" is there?  IDK about anymore to be honest.

If the Ravens are so talented, then why the hell aren't they showing up on a more CONSISTENT and regular basis in these games?  We've seen this mediocre game play from them ALL SEASON long with flashes or glimpses of a decent offense and defense along the way.

The Patriots, have CONSISTENTLY won games w/o Brady and now they demolished the Ravens so-called, "#1 Defense" w/o Gronk and w/o Amendola.  Now either that's "talent," better "coaching" or just a pure "better use of their personnel" across the board....which goes back to "coaching".

I think your example of the Patriots winning w/o Brady, Gronk, etc answers your own question. I mean objectively speaking, what do you think our offense would look like if Billick were running the show? The Pats aren't really more talented, but they are much smarter, especially that defense of theirs. The sum is much greater than its parts. Then look at us. We have caught glimpses of what this offense can do many, many times over the past 8 years. We have a gifted QB, Wallace, SSS, Pitta, Gilmore, Waller, and some talent at RB. Terrance West and Dixon are exactly the kind of RBs that Billick's offenses have made great players out of. A guy like Billick or Payton make sure those glimpses of what the offense is capable of a weekly thing.

I think the talent is there, but the brain power isn't.

Yep, Flacco puts up darn good stats and fantasy points but people want to blame the loss solely on him. LOL!

I wonder if the day will ever arrive when people realize stats are meaningless.....but yeah, I see the irony in that too LOL. People always wanting "a 4k yard season" or a "30 TD season", when those numbers are meaningless...but he he puts up stats, then it's still his fault if we lose...

the double whammy is that these are probably the same people who are the first to complain about it being a team sport when we point out Flacco's W - L record.
