Do it. And if you need assistance of ANY kind, no charge, I am a web developer by trade, have been so for nearly ten years. I was also part of the team that did the makeover for RSR a few years back. PM me if interested. In fact, if you don't I think I likely will.
I agree with your opinion on Jones being the top CB in the class. Would be very excited to get him.

You are cashing in all of your chips on something you aren't sure of and you certainly can't afford to miss on a 1st round QB that is supposed to be the franchise holder. You are also giving up any chance of finding other talent to help your team succeed in that process and is a completely idiotic way to try to build a franchise. I can't believe Ditka did that move...and for a RB to boot.
Even the revised picks that were in discussion in my opinion was too much for just one guy.
I agree, I think an entire draft, a la Ricky Williams trade, is just...well, stupid.
On the other hand, look at it like this...this was at a time when Ray and Ed were in their primes and our defense was the most feared in the league. With just a competent QB like McNair, we already had a 13 win season with him at the helm before the injury plagued 07 season and were arguably the best team in the NFL. Had Ryan turned out to be as great as we thought he was...12 win seasons would be mildly disappointing.
5 minutes ago, BmoreBird22 said:I understand that they probably didn't feel running the ball would be effective (BB committed an extra defender to the strong side and dedicated a "spy" to play the cutback) which meant inside zone was going to be more effective, but you have Mack's fractured leg.
HOWEVER, you don't even need yardage there. You literally just need to not lose 23 yards and burn clock.
And what makes it even more baffling is that Schraeder, I believe, went out on that drive or not too long before. Why is Shanahan calling deep drops out of the shotgun? Sure, it allows Ryan to see the field better, but it also puts him deeper down field if he's sacked and with a backup in at RT and an injured C, you better believe that's a really high percentage chance of happening.
This was... I just don't understand.
You know what though, gotta give it to Matty for taking the heat post-game and saying it was on him. Joe would have probably choke slammed the dude heh
People like Ray Lewis can be great at whatever they set their minds to.
9 minutes ago, BmoreBird22 said:We've all pretty well hashed it, but for the life of me, I do not understand two pass calls in a row (especially after a sack) when a field goal probably seals it. I really don't get it.
If that were the Ravens, we'd all be thrashing Marty, not Joe (and rightfully so). That's one thing I want to point out.
I bet Pete Carroll was happy to see those play calls haha...take some of the attention away from him for most idiotic OC blunders in SB history. I mean seriously, you have Freeman and Coleman, you need to piss away some clock and you are already in FG range that would seal the win...hey, lets throw the ball!
17 hours ago, EdTheMythicalOne said:I just read this on Pro Football Rumors as well and I can't believe the Ravens would have been stupid enough to do that trade. The last time somebody traded their entire draft to get one player was Mike Ditka of then the Saints to get Ricky Williams. That move set that franchise back for years and cost Mike Ditka his career.
I think Matt Ryan is a good QB. He probably would have done pretty well in Baltimore given all the same pieces. The Ravens got Ray Rice in the second round in that same draft and some names that are easy to forget because they never amounted to much. They did add Tom Zbikowski and Haruki Nakamura who were very good back up safeties and special team players for us for a number of years.
Well, you have to keep in mind that back in early 2008, Ryan had already been enshrined in the HOF. Kind of the way Luck is already in the HOF.
To be honest, yes, we can say that would have been idiotic of us, but on the other hand, I thought Ryan was going to be a bust (and Flacco the best QB in the class -- yes, I thought these things BEFORE the draft). Point is, it's all opinion. If you feel that strongly about a guy, especially one who was as "pro ready" as Ryan was and we were in win now mode, you do what it takes to get him...within reason.
Just now, BmoreBird22 said:I really question Shanahan's play calling in the second half. It didn't make sense in the second half.
That's being polite about it. I have some very colorful opinions on it that I'd be best to keep to myself.

Exactly. I want us to be the reason he is forced into retirement.
Just now, mdrsharon said:Sadly, I felt like I was watching a Ravens fourth quarter
Nope. A Ravens fourth quarter means that one side of the ball collapses while the other plays great. Rarely do they both collapse like ATL did.

to be up by 21 points and to play like he is at the end of the game is
unbelievable and all on him...and he shows nothing...
no wonder he isn't elite.... What a joke he is.
Ah, don't be so hard on him. Not everyone can be Flacco at crunch time.
Look, the fact that the OP just wanted to show some appreciation for one of our players, only to have it derailed by the usual trolls with the same lame "arguments" says a lot about those people, and nothing about Joe.
Yawn...

Sorry bud, this is why I tend to disappear during the offseason haha...
With a 9th ranked O-line we had Joe Flacco of 2016? We better have the betterO-line for the coming year for us to even sniff the playoffs. We need to give Flacco a running game that he can use consistently and to get out of blitzes where he's prone to the worst mistakes and turnovers. A top O-line and having a beastly run game will win us time of possession against the opposition. This will also tremendously help the defense knowing before they can catch their breath there was a real chance in 2016 that our offense would go 3 and out and get off the field. I really want our offense to be led by our running backs moving forward, like it used to be when Jamal Lewis was the face of our offense. Personally I wouldn't mind going RB if eiher Fournette or Cook are available when we pick, but we may have to trade up to get one of them.
Imagine that! 9th ranked Oline and all the "apologists" did was blame the Oline for Flacco's ineptitude. Many a QB could take a 9th ranked Oline deep into the playoffs
I just get tired of hearing"Joe needs this, Joe needs that" I guess we need 10 starting first team pro bowl players on offense around Flacco to make the playoff.
PFF, you say? You mean the same PFF who ranks people like this?

What a shame. He had a bright future. Best of luck in life and thanks for the memories
I looooooooveee Flacco's new "Party Pooper" commercial ![]()

Not much...
And he might never have another one of those if he continues to play like he does in the regular season.
If you are happy with his regular season play, then that's on you. Jay Cutler has a better QBR than Flacco in the regular season. That says it all.
"That's on me"? What, you think my or your opinion actually means anything? Do you actually think we'll cut Flacco if enough people pretend Tyrod Taylor or Jay Cutler is better or something?
On 1/13/2017 at 1:32 AM, JonnyBaltimore said:The funny thing is Tyrod has more Pro Bowls than Flacco. Regular season Joe is hardly better than Regular Season Tyrod.
In fact in the regular season, Tyrod has performed better in the last 2 years.
The funny thing is Flacco has more Super Bowl MVPs than Tyrod...
Wow, I can only imagine what would be said here if Flacco threw a pick like the one Russell Wilson just did.

So...you'd ignore what every reporter and player says about him, based on what exactly?
There are countless examples through the media, including our own site and Twitter, of all the extra time Flacco puts in, that it blows my mind that people even bring this topic up.
59 minutes ago, PurpleCity5 said:Don't think Wallace would be here if that means getting Alshon.
I don't agree, but even if we had to choose between the two, Alshon is clearly the choice.
7 hours ago, Ravens419 said:I really think Garçon, or Vincent Jackson or Alshon Jeffery will be here next season who would you guys want the most of the three?
Alshon would be tremendous. Exactly the kind of guy we need -- a big guy who is also a deep threat, and goes up and outplays DBs for the ball. He won't be as cheap as some think, probably in the $6-$7M year range, but he's not a guy we can let pass us by if we can get him without overpaying.
So many holes on this team -- assuming we even retain all of our key players.
OG, C, CB, OLB are all absolutely critical needs. We must address every single one of those positions between FA and the draft.
And with SSS likely retiring, BP has to step up in a big way, or we are in big trouble at WR, which was already performing well below my expectations this year. Ozzie and company has their work cut out for them this year.

Figured he would make it this year. The one year he doesn't deserve to get in, people vote him in just to be contrarian. sigh...

This is all because of Flacco's $120M contract.
