Me neither. Love him at OG, but I think he gets eaten alive at RT
Finally got one of my mock draft picks right. I had us taking Nico as well -- in the 3rd round. So yeah, I'm happy ![]()
Wanted to bump this...although I haven't had time the past year or so to be active in this thread, I've been lurking and this has long been my favorite thread in the forum. Crazy that I started this over 7 years ago *sad face*

I don't think that's necessarily true. We certainly didn't have anyone better than Dumervil before we let him go. We probably have a plan for C, but I don't think that guy is currently on the roster.

A couple more DBs wouldn't hurt either; preferably from Bama
I have to agree with everyone here. This was just an incredible value. This defense is going to be absolutely sick. Steal of the entire draft.
17 minutes ago, redrum52 said:Loving it so far. Hoping we make some moves for OL, but if this defense healthy can't close out games it will be a damn shame. Offense will go as the line does. What you think?
I have mixed feelings at the moment. Really had my heart set on one of the three WR yesterday. Humphrey, I feel the same as I did about Mosely when we took him...great talent but not a glaring need. But considering what was left on the board, 100% he was the right pick. Actually liked all of our picks aside from Bowers, but that's probably because I know little about him.
Our offense is screwed. Even if we get Mangold and Boldin, unless Perriman steps up and we find a 3rd day gem at OG or RT, we're in for a long year on offense.
Well, last year I was very excited when in the 2nd round we selected a raw, athletic pass rusher with some good tape indicating high upside. Then we moved him to ILB for reasons still beyond me, and kept him there when he predictably struggled, and finally showed a little something when he went back outside.
Hope this is not deja vu.

Been insanely busy the last few months, then when I finally have time to come back on the boards...well, you know...
Whatchu thinking of the draft so far??
This was a guy many projected going to NO at #11 overall. He was good value where we got him.
I won't lie, I was extremely disappointed that we did not get one of the three WRs, I was certain one of them would fall to us. My predraft wish list, Humphrey was #6 on that list. So if I look at it from that perspective, it would be easy to be upset with this pick.
On the other hand...Of the guys left on the board, who was a better choice? Allen dropped like a rock because he is this year's Myles Jack. Foster, who I love and feel like was born to play on a 2000s Ravens D, has personal and health issues that can't be overlooked in a 1st round pick. Howard, okay, I can get on board with that, but we already have Gilmore and Waller behind Pitta. Really, I think he was absolutely the right choice when we got on the clock.
This kid has been compared to Jimmy Smith by many people. He isn't as good a pure cover man as Jimmy, but I think he is just as good, maybe better, a press corner as Smith is -- and that is saying something. And he can hit like a truck.
I saw bmorebird22 talk about how he fits like a glove. I think that is spot on correct. And think about it...We all recognize how much fitting a scheme affects a players development and performance. With all this raw talent and athleticism, as well as only being 20, this pick may well result in multiple Pro Bowls.

Just now, Sami84 said:I dont understand why we didnt trade back. He probably would have been available at 24 or even 28
There's no way he's still there at 24 - 28. Only reason he lasted this long is because of the qb and wr runs
Wonderful news! I understand the business part, but really, it would seem so unnatural to see Webby wearing any other uniform.

So, what's so strange about expecting 2 first round picks for Flacco who's won a SB in 2012? In fact I would expect more no matter how Flacco has played since then. Garrapolo has exactly 2-4 games of starting experience if that.... and no QB in this league who's a starter is worthless period. Flacco is certainly not. Let me state I don't think he's elite or in the top echelon of QBs' (Brady, Rodgers, Brees, etc.right now, but he's surely somewhere in the second tier.
Well, the comment wasn't directed at people like you, who believe he is a quality QB. So, you value him along the lines of say, Rivers, Romo (pre-2016), Cam, etc...no way a guy like Rivers or Cam goes for just two 1st rounders. Or, as you mentioned, if Garrapolo is worth #1 plus another high draft pick, then Flacco is worth much, much more.
Davis is who I'm hoping for. If he's gone, then Ross would be a great consolation prize.
6 hours ago, trevorsteadman said:I disagree I think Ross was a 2nd round talent until he posted a 4.22. I think I would rather have Zay Jones and Cooper Kupp than John Ross.
The offense's problem last year wasn't moving the ball. There were a lot of good drives. The problem was getting touchdowns on those drives. Seemed like the offense stalled inside the red zone and settled for field goals, or failed 4th down attempts.
The offense needs some height and some bully especially after the departure of Steve Smith.
You are right, this offense needs a playmaker, not a move the chains guy. Like I said, Ross is probably the best playmaker in the draft at WR, and that 4.22 burst is a huge reason why he is such a beast in the red zone as well. I don't care how it gets done, jump balls, YAC, whatever, just get it done. Ross gets it done,
I'd take Ross in a heartbeat. Would we not add Marvin Harrison just because Harrison's skill set doesn't complement Perriman and Wallace? LOL!
And obviously I'm not calling Ross the next Marvin Harrison. This offense needs playmakers, and Ross is probably the biggest one at WR.
Solid signing. Now the defense just needs a pass rusher and I'll be really stoked.
On 3/13/2017 at 10:08 AM, Purple&Black#20 said:I agree with trading him to Cleveland for both there first round picks. Just bite the bullet and move on. We draft Garrett with the first pick and Mike Williams or Cory Davis with the 12th pick because we didn't give Pryor 8 million for 1 year. Cleveland is desperate and probably will pull the trigger. Draft CB Tabor or Wilson from Florida in the 2ND and build the offensive line in the 3rd. The Brandon William deal is probably another set back. He should of walked and transition our defense from the 3-4 to a 4-3 defense. Jernigan is not a true 3-4 linemen. Mosley isn't a true 3-4 Linebacker because he doesn't blockshed well.
4-3 Defense
Suggs. Jernigan. Pierce. Garrett
Correa. Mosley. Onwuasor
Smith. Jefferson. Weddle. Tabor/wilson
Ravens defense would finally be back.
It's absolutely hilarious that some of you guys think that Flacco is so worthless, but we'd get two 1st rounders for him despite being so worthless. Which one is it?? LOL!

Thank you to everyone who has shared feedback on this thread. We wanted to ensure we provided ample notice to the community of the shutdown and originally felt that 3+ weeks was suitable. Also, with the NFL calendar now spanning 12 months, we realize that there is no "best" time to sunset the boards. However, with the amount of chatter that occurs during the free agency period and draft, we understand that March 31 may not be the ideal time to close the discussion.
With that in mind, we have decided to leave the message boards up and running through the draft. The new shutdown day will be Friday, May 5 -- one week following the NFL Draft. We realize that many will still be upset that the board is closing, but we hope this provides members an opportunity to continue the ongoing dialogue during this busy time of year.

The most immediate issue I see is being hosted on boardhost. It's going to limit the software and features and the like in many ways. I'll PM him and talk to him about some concerns and we'll make sure we get this kicked off good and proper, the Ravens and their fans deserve nothing but the best!

If definitely needs your touch fly
I've been away from the forums for a couple months so I am "out of the loop"; whoever owns the message board can contact me at andrew at diamondphp.com
Please point them to this post, and let them know if they need help with backend development, server administration or whatever, just get hold of me.
Just want to add, my concern is that this isn't something we can run on some $9/month shared server. This will require proper planning and hardware; I don't want us to go through the time and expense of building up a new home, only to have to do it again in six months because the new home can't handle the traffic due to hardware or software limitations (not saying that applies to the site you linked to, but thinking aloud here)
If they actually go through with closing the boards down, want you all to know that it was a great pleasure to have met so many cool and knowledgeable people. I always loved this place, and the people in it. Thank you for having me.
BOLDnPurPnBlacK has suggested he may create a message board for us to migrate to. I will gladly do so if he decides not to or if issues arise where he is unable to.
Any suggestions for the new forum name?

I'm pretty sure they do that already. How would you feel about dealing with people like flynismo and redrum52 every day?? LOL
