It got similarities, but it's actually not only watchable, it's RE-watchable. And it can't be a knockoff of Drive if it was made years prior. Yes. I generally don't follow reviews, but if something has an 80%+ favorable (Drive not included) its usually a decent flick. All the positive reviews so far are just gushing over the new twist they've given this movie. As a huge lifetime fan of the horror genre, I'm really excited to see it. They've apparently done a great job on this one.

I thought people who had seen advance screenings were loving it. I said before it looks like Friday The 13th meets The Truman Show. I can't wait to see it. 20 critic reviews in in rotten tomato and a 91% like rate is not too shabby.

I have not seen it but I know the John Carter story is actually decades old. Almost 100 years old, in fact. So I'd say avatar is the rip off.
