Adalius Thomas does not understand that the Patriots have been caught cheating several times. I'm sure the punishment would have been less if they didn't continually bend the rules. Honestly, apparently the punishments from before that people thought was enough clearly wasn't or they would not have done it again. The NFL did the right thing with the deflategate thing. Don't compare it to Ray Rice, Greg Hardy, or anyone else in the NFL because this has not happened before in the NFL. I'm actually surprised that Belichick did not get some sort of suspension either, because of Sean Payton's suspension a couple years back with the bounty scandal. They suspended him for just having that go on in that organization without him knowing. Belichick can wipe the sweat off his eye brow now that the punishment was dealt.

Can't wait!!! Ravens are going all the way!!
I think you meant Cox as our longsnapper and having Koch as our punter. That puts you right at 53. Good roster, one surprise this year people need to watch is if Arthur Brown does not develop and play out they way they expected when they drafted him to watch Orr. Remember the last offseason the Ravens front office didn't talk about him highly because they didn't want another team to snatch him off of their practice squad. He could really be a great undrafted player and in his second year he may turn even more heads.
I wonder if the Ravens are waiting to see the first part of training camps and seeing if Elam improved at all... He was playing a nickel cornerback role last season. I wouldn't be surprised if Elam stays at cornerback considering we have Lewis and Hill at safety pretty much locked.
I was thinking Steve Smith, Jah Reid and Chris Canty could be on their way out. Admittedly, two quality vets but we have a lot of quality young players. Lots of time to speculate.
Why do people believe Steve Smith will get cut? Was I the only person watching the games where the 36 year old was the only person on our offense when it was stalled for quarters like in both the Bengals games and several others...? I really don't think this team would have went to the play offs at all last season if we didn't sign Steve Smith when we did. Most the other receivers had trouble getting open against average cornerbacks and Steve Smith would still somehow get open all season for the most part as a #1 receiver at 36 years old.
I was thinking this seemed possible also. Smith, Aiken, and Brown are all more proven, and obviously Perriman is a lock to make the team. I would think Darren Waller would make the team as a 6th round draft pick this year. So if we are holding six recievers there would be one slot left and he'd be competeing for it. That being said, knowing we will have a fullback and three tight ends I don't think it would be unreasonable for us to go with only five recievers. He's also got a little bit of an injury history. Whatever, it would give him more time to hang out at Scores.
I wouldn't be surprised if Waller and Boyle on the practice squad. Boyle only if Pitta comes back, if not then Boyle will definitely be the 3rd tight end on the roster. But I could see Steve Smith, Breshad Perriman, Kamar Aiken, Marlon Brown, and Michael Campanaro on the same roster.... I also wouldn't be surprised if this undrafted receiver they have goes on the practice squad as well. Lower picks and undrafted receivers usually need a couple years to be groomed.
Perriman is going to tear it up I can feel it...
Reed was not only one of a kind on the field, he was also one of the kind off the field. When he wasn't scaring opposing quarterbacks or pitching the ball back to a teammate, he was cracking jokes in his interviews and always talking about the game he loved. His retirement speech was a classic. I had to watch it a couple times for it to sink in....
I can't believe I watched a video on Bleacher Report and they said Troy Polamalu was a better safety than Ed Reed... Did they watch anything? Polamalu was good for like 3-4 years and average at best the other 8-9. Ed Reed was amazing until he fell off a cliff after the Super Bowl. He doubled Polamalu's intereceptions and Ed Reed was a game changer. I didn't even think that was a competition. Did his poor play in New York and Houston make people forget he was one of the best players of his generation?
This was an act of cheating. If it was another team I would almost let it slide because it is a very very small advantage for any team. The only reason the Patriots should be punished is because they were caught with Spygate and were warned to not bend or break the rules again. While I hate that the Steelers play the Patriots week one, I have to say that I really do believe Brady deserves some sort of punishment because he did know and it came out. I just hope that their back up can somehow win a game against the Steelers.
My favorite Raven. Have a great retirement Ed. 20th year of Ravens history marks the year that #20 retires. What an amazing career.
I really think the Ravens may have one of the most dynamic offenses in the league next season. If Forsett continues the way he played last season, and have Buck in there to slash in some other yards and catches out of the back field, and have Taliaferro get the tough yards... The Ravens added several new pass catchers not only with the two in the draft but also two undrafted. Add on top of that two tight ends in the draft... Offensive line is all returning from last season being the 2nd best O-line in the league and having 2 back ups in Urschel and Hurst that have proven themselves....
Defensive pass rush got new blood with Smith. Jimmy Smith extended his contract in Baltimore. Webb is solid. Pass rush will always be good with Sizzle and Doom. Add in the new defensive front players that will rotate in and out and always proves to be a top 5. Add another cornerback with some of that $10 million cap space thats leftover and extend Yanda, K.O., Tucker, or Upshaw and you are looking at a pretty great team for this season.
I don't think I have seen the roster look this good before the June 1st cuts... It looks like a great team.
They still have $10 million dollars left in cap space to get a cornerback even though I want to see what Walker does, even though he may not be ready for the NFL this year. The guy is huge and fast... Came out of a small school. But if he got the playbook down I really think he could be a huge steal in the 4th round.
I think Maxx is a stud and I called that 2nd round pick of him, but I think Maxx won't be OROY for one reason. He plays for the Ravens. Sorry to burst everyones' bubbles but the media hates Baltimore..... Mosley was clearly the DROY last year and they gave it Aaron Donald who didn't even play as a starter all season. Even if he gets 800 yards next season, I can honestly see them going with Amari Cooper or one of the higher drafted receivers instead.
Watch as he finds holes all over against that Steeler defense. Glad he is here. So much talent in the 1st and 2nd round for offense. 3rd round pick of Davis was also solid. Very excited for this next season and this has already played out better than I ever imagined.
Everyone should be excited. So much talent to be unleashed. New Raven to see on the field and the best part of this pick is I think he still hasn't hit his peak yet. A lot of players hit their peak in college and that's why they become busts, and then there are other players who hit their peak in the NFL and get good contracts. This kid got better every game he played and had no drops the last couple games and only 14 in 2 years... That is like 1 drop every other game that is no big deal. I'm excited I think he is a terrific addition to this offense. I think the Ravens front office finally got it right. Sounds like a humble guy. Glad he is here. Ready for day 2.
Just found out he only had 14 drops over 3 seasons in college football.... And people are making a big deal out of it.... I think "experts" just bashed him for a stupid reason and he fell to us. I'm not even mad. I'm pretty sure Steve Smith had 14 last season... This kid will see the field a lot this season. The more I find out about him the happier I get.
Tbh I'm surprised at this pick. I saw Landon Collins on the board and was ready to bet the farm that he was coming to Baltimore. I was really hoping Shane Ray would fall to us, but Kubiak knew we would bite on him and hopped us. I feel like this is more of a pick for need rather than best player available.
I agree Kubiak knew what we wanted... I was surprised at this pick as well. But if you look at everyone else left on the board I honestly saw no one I wanted the Ravens to draft initially. I was acutally hoping the Ravens would find a trade partner to trade back. I think this pick is a boom or bust. I think they picked a raw receiver for his size and speed because of the upside and hoping they can coach him because if Perriman was as polished as White, Parker, or Cooper I could have seen him going top 10. He has good film and I think the Ravens took a gamble. I wasn't happy at first but I watched more film and I like what I see. First round players are always raw with the higher chance of upside. Give this guy a chance. He has the tools if he puts in the work he can definitely be a #1 receiver.
notice you didn't; talk about his football skills..you talked about his track skills
He isn't polished at all. He doesn;t track the ball well and gets lost in his routes. Unless he suddenly discovers how to run routes and locate the football this grade is a D from me. Its not as bad as the elam pick ..but it sure as hell isn't a great one. I'd have traded up to get Dupree.
Honestly none of the players in the draft are polished. I cannot believe you bash Breshad Perriman and then praise Dupree. Dupree is the ultimate raw talent of this draft. People talk about how he only uses his athelticism and doesn't use football moves and doesn't fight till the whistle. You could have honestly said almost anyone else in the first round that is more polished than Dupree. The first round is to find guys with athleticism and size that you cannot coach. You can coach catching, ball tracking, and all of that. If the Ravens were to trade up they would have got Shane Ray and that is who they were planning on drafting until Denver traded up. I honestly am excited to see how this guy does. I hate the comparison to Torrey Smith though.
if they go for funchess i will not watch the rest of the draft.
i like players with hands..seems like we don't care.
Ravens had Perriman go visit them and they would not have drafted him if in his work out he did not perform well.... He had a bad quarterback last season. Bortles was good when he was there but still if you look at a lot of his highlights it is of him diving everywhere for balls placed way far away. I think everyone should let him get a chance on the field before giving a judgement. Preseason is coming up. I want Maxx Williams (stud and can block) or Eric Rowe (solid defensive back that is very versatile). Round two and three today.
Good grief the draft has just started. Just because we got a WR first does not mean we can't get a good CB or safety in the next few rounds. Some fans can not be made happy no matter what we do lol. Go Ravens.
I agree. You know who is still on the board? Eric Rowe. Solid free safety for two years that changed to corner his senior year and does it all and is good at it. I bet the Ravens look for him to possibly slip down to us hoping the run on cornerbacks is done. I'm also hoping Maxx Williams or Devin Funchess sneaks their way down the Ravens way. I like the Perriman pick but it still doesn't mean the Ravens are done drafting offense....
I don't see any similarities with Torrey Smith and I don't think the Ravens drafted him to be Torrey Smith 2.0. If they wanted Torrey Smith 2.0 they would've waited a round or two. This guy is just as good as Kevin White, DeVante Parker, and Amari Cooper size and speed wise overall. Overall I would compare him more to Andre Johnson back at college.
San Fran is having a hell of a draft
I thought that even after their first round pick. Ward was the best safety in my eyes in this draft.
Ohhh But its ok to draft for the Future when it comes to Defense???
You twisted what he said. People are acting like the Ravens have not done anything for the offensive side of the ball when they added two veterans who will make an impact as soon as they hit the field. People always complain each year that the Ravens don't draft offenses and with those complaints shows two super bowl rings in a franchise that has only been around 18 years I believe with several play off appearances. I see these players making a bigger impact than the receivers on the board when we were picking.
I don't think our offense is going to look good this year look at AJ Green he played every game his rookie year and was a beast why are we so scared to get a good receiver I'm tired of our receivers not going up to catch the ball and not getting separation and being scared to catch the ball damn.
Because rarely do receivers ever turn out well. Only a couple in each draft actually start in the NFL. If any of the receivers were on the board and still could make plays for us Ozzie would have picked them. Honestly I don't see how a receiver would play under Steve Smith, Torrey Smith, Marlon Brown, Dennis Pitta, and Owen Daniels. Very little. These guys we draft can make immediate impacts on our defense. There are still receivers on the board the Ravens will look at getting. But the reason they don't is because they do not see the receivers so far as being any better than they already have and see other players able to make plays for us instead.
Right now on paper the Ravens look well behind Browns and Bengals in Talent. That is undeniable. If Manziel can add anything, Ravens are the 3rd most talented team in AFC North. Who was the last Pro bowl player the Ravens drafted in the 1st round? Ngata in 2006. That's 8 years Ravens fans. Passed on FS Ha Ha and Pryor while adding nothing in free agency. Team will trhow deep on Ravens early and often. Offense couldn't run, block, or get open and you draft a DT in the 2nd round. I love the Ravens, but call it like I see it. Missed opportunity.
I don't see the Bengals adding anymore than we have so far and the Josh Gordon will likely be suspended most if not all the next season due to multiple drug violations.

I did think that Suggs had a bad year, but in regards to the Joe Flacco ranking I have to agree. Honestly this is just a popularity contest. There are a few teams that are televised more because they are considered more popular. Like the Broncos, Patriots, Steelers, Packers, and now Seahawks... Some of it is because of their recent success but even before this last season the Steelers were terrible for 3-4 years not getting into the play offs and getting around 8-8 when constantly every season people would project them on top of the division winning 13-3. The Ravens have never really been a popular team outside of Maryland, and they go in as underdogs every year with people always expecting the Ravens to be the 8-8 team in the AFC North when they have been probably the most consistent and best team in the AFC North for 6 years now. Going into Pittsburgh in the play offs this last year everyone, and I mean probably 95% of the media, projected the Steelers to win by a pretty good margin because of the regular season game the Steelers destroyed Baltimore and always showed flash backs of that game of when our cornerbacks struggled. They NBC cast never showed one clip of the game between the two when the Ravens won 26-6 or whatever it was earlier that year. There are just more popular teams in the media for whatever reason and I guess fans of teams that aren't as popular just need to just ignore it and move on.
