Stopped reading when I saw that the Bengals were projected to have more wins than the Ravens next year. Steelers I could see even though the team barely fell short last year and has more additions than the Steelers this offseason, but the Bengals only had 6 wins last season and looked horrible all season. They lost 2 of the best o-linemen in the league. I just don't see any way that people view the Bengals as a bigger threat than the Ravens who were a blade of grass away from a playoff berth.
3 month ago people would've said I was crazy thinking it wasn't a reach for Reddick at 16. I don't think he is a reach anymore. He just has that football instinct and he looks good at almost every aspect. I think it might take him some time to acclimate to the NFL but I think it is worth it. He is one of my favorite players this year that I know the Ravens have a possiblity of getting. I think the only film I enjoy watching more is Jamaal Adams' film.
Reddick is one of my favorite players in this draft. I try to convince myself 16 isn't a reach for him because of his talent level, but I do think it is a reach. I still think he screams Raven and would be fantastic on the edge, and on the inside from time to time.
But those players that play 500 different positions I'm always afraid they will be only alright at the positions they play and won't be a star at one position. I think Reddick could be a star on the edge but it is something that worries me.
Not sure if people have already brought this guy into the conversation or not, and I don't want to go back through all 17 pages, but what is the consensus on Ardarius Stewart from Alabama? Seems like he has solid hands and pretty good speed. I see him as a middle round pick. Is he a person you think could make this team better?
Just now, rmw10 said:Yep. So many go unreported, and sometimes, you can meet a player once and know you're good. Often times, top 30 visits are reserved for guys you have questions about or guys you want to make believe there's strong interest. If a prospect is considered "safe" then a smart team isn't going to tip their hand.
I also think teams meet with players they know they are not interested in just to psych other teams out. That avoids predictability.

Zay Jones will be a star in the NFL so I hope so. But I think he is taken early second before our pick.
On 4/10/2017 at 9:33 AM, BOLDnPurPnBlacK said:Theres also the very real possibility that we've met with several guys but its gone unreported... informal meetings with guys at combines, pro days, Sr bowl, EW shrine, etc...
Plus we still have more formal visits available.
Not only that, im sure theres certain guys we're 100% on in our evaluations from tape. A guy like Mack who were ready to trade a kings ransom for to move up and get, i dont believe we ever had a reported meeting with.
Barnett is a guy who is polished and its obvious on tape, has the production, and by all accounts in an extremely hard working and likeable guy off the field. If they feel confident in that evaluation and his placement on their board, no need to waste a meeting or put people onto the scent.
I think fans forget about the smokescreens teams throw out. The team only met with Correa once before drafting him and it wasn't reported because it was at the senior bowl I think. It wouldn't surprise me if they met with these players and don't want it to be on record in fear of a team jumping in front to take that player.
35 minutes ago, BOLDnPurPnBlacK said:I agree the Offense needs a talent infusion, especially on the OL... but im not a fan of saying we need to dedicate X picks to the offense.
Its a stacked defensive draft.... i dont want to pass up on a stud defender, for a pretty good RT just bc we need one. If need and BPA line up, as always, win win. Otherwise, we just need to draft as many playmakers/franchise type players as we can. Period.
If we end up signing Mangold, i think all we really need is either a LG/RT to compete. Sure, a young talented WR, C, RT all would be nice, but pass rusher is def just as big and CB, DT/DE, ILB and S could all be just as big within the next year or two.
No and I agree I don't want to say a certain amount of picks should go to either side of the ball. But at the same time the offense needs help and I think it will be via the draft. There are so many young mid round picks already invested in the defense I could see them changing to the other side of the ball. Let's just hope that Moore, Dixon, and others improve from last season.
If the board falls and we get all defense so be it. But I do pray for the day to come that the team helps out the offense somehow.
3 hours ago, PurpleHorseman said:Say what?? Davis can win on multiple platforms that include every level. He runs sudden routes for early separation if needed. He can separate intermediate level and make a play on the ball if needed. And he has shown breakaway speed after the catch. He has speed to get deep and make plays on the ball if necessary. At 6'3 1/2 216lbs he runs sharp sudden routes like a 6'0 195lb receiver.
He is similar to Amari Cooper in precision. And can be a contested ball winner if necessary. He hasn't the amount of contested catches of mike Williams because he doesn't need to very often. He gets separation with suddenness and precision. He looked like a college boy playing with Highschool kids. He should be the No.2 catcher off the board behind Howard. We better find a legit young receiver/TE. Wallace is 31 and not known for precision to extend his production into his 30's.
And last couple drafts has sent bigger faster corn. erbacks and cover safety's. And this could be the best draft ever for the cornerback position. Multiple Top end No.2 and even NO.1 cornerbacks are going to come out of round3 and round4 in this draft. So the bar is being raised for receivers and TE's. Not to mention the NFL is moving toward smaller coverage linebackers and even big safety's being converted to linebackers that can cover Zones that receivers normally don't have to account for.
I took some heat for throwing out the idea of trading our round1 pick for a tackle/guard I believe will be a top5 offensive lineman in the league. The most effective way to counter the better coverage is a dominating offensive line. Allowing the receivers backs and TE's to uncover. To spring the run game and make defenses respect it. Which will help the players doing the catching to have space to get open. I'm not saying we should trade that pick for an offensive lineman because of this being a weak draft for that position. But I do think it is important to place priority on the offensive line. And not only serviceable offensive lineman, but dominant offensive lineman that will allow run game,WR's TE's and receiving backs to do their best stuff.
I think the best thing about Corey Davis is his break away speed. On a lot of tape he catches the ball near a defender and 1 second later he has a 3 or 4 yard lead on a person. I know it was against smaller conference corners, but I do think he has the raw ability. I think his ceiling is higher than Mike Williams, but I think Mike Williams has a lot higher floor which is what this team might need just because he is more NFL ready and this team has been pretty terrible developing wide receivers.
Mike Williams catches the ball better and plucks the ball out of the air which I would like to see Davis do more of. I think both fit this team to a T. I think only one or the other will be there at #16 so the team may not get to choose from the two but I do think that they need to invest at least 2 of the 3 early picks of this year's draft into offense. FA has been helping the defense but the offense has only lost besides the Danny Woodhead addition.
The defense looks just as good this year if not better as long as the injury bug doesn't strike. There needs to be more youth injected into the team but we can safely assume the defense will likely be a top 10 this year. The team needs to add to offensive line which I think a veteran like Ducasse gets signed later in the process post June and likely another young guy added to the o-line to give 3 really young players and 2 vets. The Ravens need to get a playmaker on offense and I think Davis, Williams, and even Howard would be all great fits.
I think the offense will be slightly better next year just because #1 it is the same OC (even though at is what I said last year, hopefully they build an offense that actually fits the quarterback and team this year, the strongest quarterback in the NFL throwing screens to a 37 year old off an achilles tear 4/5 plays is not an offense the team should ever run). I think Flacco now having a year under his belt from his injury will come back better and he seemed to be progressively playing better as the season went on, as so the rest of the offense did.

I 100% agree with the guy. You are not getting a 3rd from Jernigan. He has struggled staying consistent and chances are you are looking at a 4th rounder at best and that would be in 2019. Also the move up from where we did is valued higher than a 4th round pick. I think it was a perfect move by the front office.
2 hours ago, PurpleHorseman said:By elite I mean Leshaun McCoy caliber or very similar. Dixon breaks a lot of tackles for a runner known to be shifty and elusive. Bigger running back than most think at 5'10 nearly 220lbs. He has potential to be a 1800-2000 all purpose yards player. He is a very good receiver with some acrobatic playmaking skills. Lots potential.
I think that he has potential to be good he flashed some, but I do fear of his lack of breakaway speed to be kind of concerning. He seemed to break off some good runs and get caught from behind. I know on tape in college that was one of his cons, and I think it showed last season. Let's hope he gets some needed added burst and hope that he is healthy coming in at week 5.
Lol at Michael Trubitsky
I actually think Webb played better at safety last year than he has played at corner since 2012. He isn't going to hurt the team but that interception last year where he basically ran from one side to the other to get the pick in the end zone was so Ed Reed like. I'm sure he would be better this coming season after having an entire year of safety under his belt.
Makes me wonder how much Nickel the team plays next season. Could use Jefferson at ILB in nickel sets.
I'm not sure if it is just because Corey Davis plays in a smaller conference or what, but his break away speed to me looks faster than John Ross. I do hesitate with him coming out of Western Michigan though.
Let's hope he is less of a potato then this year.
1 minute ago, rossihunter2 said:Not only wouldn't I mind it, I'd love it - he'd be amazing quality depth or as a 3rd safety
Pending injuries, Ravens would have the best secondary in the NFL. Especially if they picked up someone like Desmond King in the 2nd or 3rd.
Desmond King will be the steal of the draft. If he really falls to the 3rd like a lot of people say he will, which I don't buy, that team will be very happy.
6 minutes ago, January J said:Trying to decipher through the possible smokescreens; taking into account the FA signings and the performance of prospects at the combine/pro day while also considering our needs- I wanted to create a top 15 board for players we are MOST LIKELY to draft. Top 7 if we stay at 16 and top 8 if we trade back. Its my personal opinion that trading up will not be a consideration for us this year when taking into account how the board is likely to fall and considering the multiple holes we need to fill and the stacked talent in the middle rounds of the draft. It is also of my belief that the CB position which I originally thought was our best bet in the first- will NOT be addressed until the 2nd and probably even third round unless one of the top guys falls and others are also gone. This is due to multiple things that include injury but it mainly involves getting the best value in the first and still being able to land a starting caliber corner later on due to the depth in this particular draft. As you can see I also think a few players who have been recently mocked to us will not even be on our board in the first- including John Ross. Anyway here we go.
Pick 16:
1) Derek Barnett
2) Mike Williams
3) Rueban Foster
4) Marshon Lattimore
5) Corey Davis
6) Haasan Reddick
7) Charles Harris
TRADEBACK TARGETS
8) Tak McKinley
9) Dan Feeney
10) Taco Charlton
11) Cam Robinson
12) Jabrill Peppers
13) Gareon Conley
14) Ryan Ramczyk
15) Tim Williams
It seems you are as high on Charles Harris as I am. I think he is one of the most underrated guys in this draft and I think he ends up going higher than people say he is.
14 minutes ago, jboy19 said:I think bringing Webb back would be a super underrated move. The best way to use Jefferson is to move him around: blitz him, let him follow TE's, play him as the nickel linebacker, stuff like that. Webb held his own last year when he moved to safety and was not a liability. Anything that makes the team more flexible in the secondary is a good move imo.
I agree and if I had to choose between Mangold and Webb I think I would choose Webb. He has been here for so many years and would give the secondary more depth. I know the offense has been neglected this offseason like it always seems to be, but if this team is going anywhere in the playoffs it will be riding the defense.
Talking to other buddies who are fans of other teams, they couldn't believe that the Ravens actually had official message boards. I think these boards are one of the few ways to keep fans actively involved in the offseason.
I understand the boards are not as active as they are the years the team is more competitive, but it seems like every year someone releases most loyal and knowledgable fans in the NFL. The Ravens always rank in the top 5 and are known to have very smart fans.
With less of these conversations I do think that takes a hit.. I wouldn't be surprised if the team notices a slight drop off in loyal fans.
But in the end it comes down to money. I hope all of you join us at boardhost.
I really hope Webb comes back. Been an underrated player on this defense and while maybe he isn't the biggest playmaker, he is a very good player who never seems to be the weak part of the defense. His ability to play multiple positions as well would help the Ravens.
But now that I am excited about him coming back he will sign elsewhere lol
2 minutes ago, BOLDnPurPnBlacK said:Oh im not either... just can see why a team in the Top 10 might take him.
If they're convinced in their offense he'll be effective enough between the tackles, and will take advantage of moving him around then he could be pretty dynamic.
Yep and out of the teams in front of the Ravens I can only see a couple of them that I could potentially see McCaffery going.
Saints and Eagles are the only ones that I can see ahead of Baltimore. And those teams have holes everywhere on their team it will be a crap shoot come draft day.
1 minute ago, BOLDnPurPnBlacK said:Well i guess if you're confident he can run between the tackles... in the right offense he can be a very dynamic weapon.
I am not confident in him doing that unless in an offense like New England, Saints, etc. I definitely don't see him as a Raven.
33 minutes ago, raven94 said:Adams? As in Jamal Adams? What is that guy smoking? By the way Adams improved his 40 time from the combine (4.56) to a 4.38 at his pro day. That along with his size, athleticism, impeccable tackling, and mean streak/leadership pretty much ties him for second on my ravens big board with Malik Hooker
Yeah it was a NFL.com article. But coming out of college I actually like Adams way better than Collins. I never saw that the Collins was going to slide that far in the draft but he has made teams pay for passing him up. I don't see Adams outside top 5. I believe he is the 2nd best player behind Garrett in this draft and I pray the 49ers are smart enough to pick him at #2
in 2017 NFL Draft
Posted · Report post
Seems to be the trend around here. I guess I'll give it a shot.
1. Cleveland Browns - Myles Garrett DE Texas A&M
Here is to hoping the Browns don't mess up and take a QB at #1 with recent rumors spinning. Let's hope that is Cleveland's way of keeping everyones' heads spinning.
2. San Francisco 49ers - Jamaal Adams S LSU
To me I think this is almost as much as a no-brainer as the Myles Garrett at #1. If Cleveland chooses a QB, I see Garrett here and if so that makes the 49ers the luckiest team in the National Football League. Adams is probably the most NFL ready player and has an incredible ceiling. Will lock down the back end of any defense day 1.
3. Chicago Bears - Johnathan Allen DT Alabama
Used to be consensus #2 and has fell a little bit. I still think he is a premier talent and the Bears will benefit from him falling to them over the course of the last few months.
4. Jacksonville Jaguars - Soloman Thomas DT Stanford
Jaguars seem to always pick the risers. They continue to add to their defense.
5. Tennesee Titans - Malik Hooker S Ohio State
Would've been #1 safety taken in almost any other draft. Ballhawking skills this defense desperately needs. Mariota will need to wait for an offensive playmaker to be called.
6. New York Jets - Leonard Fournette RB LSU
Big-bodied bruiser to pair with Matt Forte. Jets attempt to revamp offense in first round like the Titans did last year with their 1-2 punch of Murray and Henry. Attempt to find quarterback in round 2.
7. Los Angeles Chargers - Mitchell Trubitsky QB UNC
I love Phillip Rivers. One of the most underrated players in the NFL. But he will likely be hanging it up here soon. I can see the Chargers taking the highest rated QB and I also could see them trading back for a QB hungry team. A lot of Charger fans will likely not like this pick, but it will be the new face of Los Angeles.
8. Carolina Panthers - Marshon Lattimore CB Ohio State
That Carolina's defense went from hero to zero in one year. They drafted a pair of young guys they hope can be the face of the franchise. But I also don't see Munnerlyn playing into his 50's. Lattimore is the best cornerback in this draft and the Panthers land him.
9. Cincinnati Bengals - Reubon Foster LB Alabama
The Bengals have so many needs, but the best linebacker and arguably a top 5 talent in this draft is still on the board. One of the most hated division rivals lands a superstar player the Ravens will have to play at least 10 times the next 5 years.
10. Buffalo Bills - OJ Howard TE Alabama
While I think this is high for a tight end and I could possibly see a fall for Howard, the Bills get a dynamic weapon that can jumpstart that run game and get crucial first downs.
11. New Orleans Saints - Quincy Wilson CB Florida
Surprised? Don't be. The Florida cornerback's stock has fell off a cliff the last month or so. But he still has the raw tools to be a #1 corner in the NFL and I think he is more NFL ready than people give him credit. Saints tried trading for Butler and I wouldn't be surprised if they tried for Sherman as well. Defense seems to be their goal.
12. Cleveland Browns - Mike Williams WR Clemson
Initially had Conley here. I mean how many teams take the same position in the draft round 1 two consecutive years in a row? But with Gordon as a question mark and Pryor out the door I like the hands and aggressiveness of Williams to complement a growing Corey Coleman. Also starting to look like a fantastic place for a young quarterback to grow.
13. Arizona Cardinals - Deshone Kizer QB Notre Dame
Quarterback that is a work in progress. A lot of people have other quarterbacks ahead of him. But I think he best fits their offense of what they want to do and he will have a year under Carson Palmer.
14. Philadelphia Eagles - Dalvin Cook RB FSU
Many see the fall farther than this. But on tape I actually think Cook without off-the-field issues is a top 10 if not top 5 talent. I think the Eagles are a candidate to take a risk on him, and with the additions of Jeffery and T. Smith, watch out for this offense they are all in with Carson Wentz.
15. Indianapolis Colts - Derek Barnett DE Tennesee
Colts need help everywhere. This would be a good start.
16. Baltimore Ravens - Hasaan Reddick LB/DE Temple
The front office has made it clear. Upgrade. That. Defense. I think they know the offense is definitely a work in progress and it is to be made, but I think that happens later in the draft and post June. Reddick would be phenomenal at OLB for the Ravens and I could even see them using Judon in Suggs' other OLB spot and slide Suggs in at DE as he gets older.
17. Washington Redskins - Cam Robinson OT Alabama
Start getting some talent infused into that offense to try to attract a Kirk Cousins replacement.
18. Tennesee Titans - John Ross WR Washington
First receiver off the board. Titans get a good route runner with speed to open up the offense.
19. Tampa Bay Buccaneers - Gaeron Conley CB Ohio State
Buccaneers have great linebackers and a decent front seven overall. They invest in the secondary a second year in a row.
20. Denver Broncos - Ryan Ramczyk OT Wisconsin
Almost as difficult to type as Kyle Juszczyk. They need to upgrade that o-line for their team to go anywhere.
21. Detroit Lions - Charles Harris DE Missouri
One of my favorite players to go in the first round. Wouldn't be surprised if he went higher.
22. Miami Dolphins - Taco Charlton DE Michigan
I don't see this guy I think he will struggle early on but the raw skills are there. Up to Miami to coach him up.
23. New York Giants - Garett Bolles OT Utah
Need an offensive line to throw to OBJ and Brandon Marshall.
24. Oakland Raiders - Marlon Humphery CB Alabama
One of the most talented players in the draft plagued with chronic injuries. Raiders need help in their lackluster secondary that holds them back every year. Him and Joseph pair to make the Raiders defense great again.
25. Houston Texans - Patrick Mahomes QB Texas Tech
I will cringe when I see the Texans force a quarterback. A team with a talented defense that gets to the playoffs just to take a plane ride home the next week. Hopefully they don't pull the trigger.
26. Seattle Seahawks - Sidney Jones CB Washington
Hometown kid who would have likely been a top 15 selection who got injured. Luckily it sounds like he will be back this season sooner than later. I will get negged for this but the Seahawks have time to wait on this talent and him compared to the next guy is miles away. Steal of the draft if he proves he can come back healthy this season even if it is 6-8 weeks into the season. Seahawks have the pieces around to wait until he is healthy.
27. Kansas City Chiefs - Corey Davis WR Western Michigan
I think he falls. He is one of my favorite players in this draft, but not many teams above need to invest in a wide receiver. The Chiefs luck out and get a solid addition to their struggling offense. He falls for limited participation in drills and combine, along with playing at a lower level.
28. Dallas Cowboys - Obi Melifonwu S Conneticut
Everybody got up and left the Cowboys secondary. Pretty much any defensive piece would be a positive for this team.
29. Green Bay Packers - Christian McCaffery RB Stanford
Yes yes yes I know, Ty Montgomery is a receiving back. But I think everybody knows by now that the only way the Packers will win another Super Bowl is through Aaron Rodgers' arm. Lacy never fit that offense. I think McCaffery fits in perfectly even though defense is more of a need.
30. Pittsburgh Steelers - TJ Watt OLB Wisconsin
Steelers achilles heel is always their defense. They have talented youth but hopefully one day it clicks together for them.
31. Atlanta Falcons - Forrest Lamp OG Western Kentucky
Atlanta's magical postseason run could be credited to their front 5 staying healthy. They need to add to it as they already have a young developing defense to compliment their off the charts offensive skill players.
32. New Orleans Saints - Zach Cunningham LB Vanderbilt
Every little bit of help on that defense would help. I also wouldn't mind Takk McKinley here.
Round 2:
Juju Smith-Schuster WR USC:
I used to hate this guy on film and he is slowly growing on me. He gives me flashbacks to the 2013 playoff run from AnQuan Boldin. I think he fits perfectly and the offense finally showing some life. I prefer Zay Jones but I think he is off the board by this pick. Would be happy with either one.
Round 3:
Desmond King CB Iowa:
My favorite player of the draft. The most shutdown corner there is. People say he is too slow and then he proved them wrong at the combine. They say he is too small. I don't believe it. He held his own at Iowa. Would be a perfect addition to the secondary.
Ethan Pocic C LSU:
I don't like centers that high because most don't seem as versatile. I also think that this may change based off of if the team decides to sign a veteran center. But I do like this guy, he is a mauler who opened a lot of holes for Fournette. I think he would fit in blocking for West and Dixon.
That is all I will do as after round 3 is a crapshoot on players. There are a lot of good players in round 4 and 5 that will just take time to groom. Any ideas of who you would want in the later rounds?
