The board didn't work in our favor for offensive purposes this year.  It seemed every time we were on the clock an offensive player of need (with the exception of Howard) got taken.  So would you rather reach out of draft position, or take the what fell to us?  It's not like we stockpiled  dbs or positions we didn't need.  I like all the picks so far. Would it have been nice to get that offensive playmaker yea but like said we are a rebuilding team.  I believe we can still compete this year, truly contend next.

People seem to forget why the team last year didn't make the playoffs. It is because of Jimmy Smith not being available near the end. Think of how different the Giants and Steelers games alone would've changed with him out there. Now there is another healthy big explosive corner if Jimmy goes down and the secondary has added so many pieces to its already strong secondary and added new blood at linebacker and edge.

The Ravens defense is looking to be elite next season.

Wouldn't that be a good reason to invest in it, though? Our defense was really good last season and that got us only an 8-8 record.

The Ravens went 8-8 because Jimmy Smith went down. They just got Jimmy Smith insurance and two pass rushers.

The Ravens likely would have been in the playoffs if Jimmy Smith wasn't injured.

i thought we were gonna use 1st rnd pick to trade down and add more picks in later rounds. just 3 picks day 3 is a little disappointing.

I mean how many did the team have last year? And to be honest I'm already seeing a huge drop off in talent.

  4. I'm excited about this draft. I already thought the defense was top 5 it may be a top 3 defense at least on paper before the season.

Unfortunately it will come at the cost of the offense still missing some pieces, but it is probably better having a top 3 defense and a 20th ranked offense than middle of the pack elsewhere.

There is still plenty of time to find an offensive lineman, but I think the front office will be going with Perriman, Wallace, and Moore into next season and that scares me.

2nd and 3rd rounds has a lot of good hands WRs that don't rely on speed.  This is exactly what the Ravens need.  Kupp, JuJu, Zay Jones would all be good compliments to the speed we have on the roster.  We need some stellar hands and route running out there.

I really like Zay because he isn't asslow as Juju and he has the best hands in the draft. He may not break tackles but he consistently finds holes in the defense. between 1-20 yards. Won't get much YAC but he is so good with his creative routes.

Is he a better/more savvy route runner than Smith Sr. was last year (you could also add Pitta here)? Will he improve pass protection allowing Flacco to make the pass? Will he boost the run game further increasing Flacco's chances of thriving in the pocket?

I believe the answer to all those questions is a resounding no. We need OL and edge rush WAY before WR. Belie' dat.

No need to be so hostile bro. He is a good blocker and a fantastic route runner.

OL is easier to address in free agency. You can get solid veterans for cheap. WR you won't find a decent one in FA.

This team has several needs. You can't deny this team needs a wide receiver.

I've seen the jimmy smith comp from day one, but jimmy had to develop a lot to be who he is now, so we're banking on a big development. I think Humphrey has a chance to be really special but there's also a chance that he struggles badly for a good amount of time.

@JoeyFlex5 you also have to take into account how bad the secondary was when Jimmy Smith was drafted. I think Jimmy Smith had big shoes to fill. When you look at Marlon Humphrey who do you have behind him? Eric Weddle, Tony Jefferson, or Lardarius Webb. The Ravens don't need an elite guy on the outside day one, they need someone better than Shareece Wright and also someone who has the intangibles and size to fill in for Jimmy Smith when he goes down because the team was hurt by that last season.

Not my favorite pick for the Ravens to take there but I actually really like the upside. I know it wasn't a position of need but I like adding to the deepest secondary in the league.

Quincy Wilson is also very good and turning and finding the ball.

My issue is Marlon in man. He is a liability in man and you can see that on tape.( right now, hopefully) Quarterbacks are going to go at him.

I'm trying to talk myself into this pick. Awesome physicality and instincts against the run. Pretty rare physicality actually.

Humphrey is also one of the better zone corners in this draft if not the best. Lattimore was definitely better at mirroring opposing wide receivers to play man coverage, but I actually think Humphrey succeeds early with the talent this team has on the back end. If you keep everything in front of him he is incredible. But he has let some players run by in man coverage and he needs to work on footwork and turning his head but his closing speed is something fierce.

Carr is the starter st this point with Humphrey as the 4th.

But you have to look long term. Carr is older and you are getting a solid cb at best. Humphrey has the ceiling to become Jimmy Smith (Actually his NFL comparison). 4.4 speed and he is the best run defending cornerback in this draft as well as one of the best if not the best zone corner in this draft. He definitely needs to work on his man to man and footwork but he has all the tools to become a #1 cornerback in this league. And you pair him on the outside with Jimmy Smith who is top 5 if not top 3 when healthy, that is a dangerous combination.

He will likely not be an instant starter like a lot of people want, but long term it was a good move. The Ravens now probably have the best secondary in the league and one of the deepest secondaries in the league.

If we can snag an OL, a WR, and an OLB with the three picks ill be content, not happy, considering what went on in the 1st round.

Why? You won't find a better corner in FA. OL can be found in FA. I am excited about the pick. This gives the Ravens two tall corners on the outside to keep Young on the inside where he fits best, and then have a solid 4th corner in Carr.

Some fans are never happy. OZ finally addresses a need. J Smith can't stay healthy, Carr is over 30 and Young is small. He is big, fast, and physical. His technique can be coached up.

That being said, they have more TE and DL that you can shake a stick at but hard to believe they pass on OJ Howard or J. Allen. So it makes me beilve they are not a BPA strategy.

He's a second round pick, Ozzie time has passed

In several mocks he was 11th to Saints and not pass the 1st round.

Never was that high ever we passed on Allen Howard and foster. A reaction to what bengals have done and Bryant coming back.

It that a Bad thing? Say they Take Howard. What do they target in the 2nd round? A lesser CB, what's left of Pass rusher or WR. O-line.

I agree, not a sexy pick. But the Ravens defense falls off a cliff when J Smith gets hurt, which is often. They reached for a need.

We signed Jefferson and Carr no need to reach, we didn't take best avalible. Ozzie your time has passed.

Yeah because Jefferson is definitely a corner and Carr is a #1 cornerback in his prime smh

    Watch him against Cinci.

He does well against technique, athlete tackles. But surprisingly ive seen him struggle against BIG guys. Really struggle. He was almost non-existent that game.

dont get me wrong i love reddick. But every prospect has holes.

I jsut hate when people exaggerate someones weakness and act like thats the ONE thing that you absolutely cant be weak at and be successful in the NFL. Or make stupid analogies like bc a prospect wont match up well with like 1 or 3 NFL players, theyre going to be terrible.

Myles Garret might struggle against Joe Thomas... so hes lucky hes going to Cleveland or he'd be a bust.

And I agree he is undersized and struggles against bigger guys, if he is going to play edge then he definitely needs to bulk up. If he stays inside at WILL then I think he would be fine where he is now.

Albert Breer's mock has this little nugget.

    16. Ravens: Alabama LB Reuben Foster. No one gets more background on Bama players than Ozzie Newsome. And I hear he’s OK with Foster’s flags

You're getting my hopes up just to have my heart break tonight

I don't understand the hype behind Riddick. Yes he's a versatile player but he can't cover or rush the passer among the best in this class. It's seems like everyone wants the 2 for 1 special with him. At 16 Jarred Davis  is there he's the better ILB. His man to man coverage skills are far more superior than Riddick. We're going to be taking a raw player at 16 just because he's versatile. I don't even want to mention how bad of a tackler he is. He's try's to go for the big hit every time.

I don't agree with everything this guy says but I do think he is quite funny. I think if you watch Reddick's film you will see otherwise.

maybe he does but thats bc hes one of the most athletic and technical LT's to come out in a long time. He was an ELITE prospect whose skill set actually matches up really well against Barnett's. There arent a lot of Stanleys in the NFL. The kid was the top rated LT in the league over the final 8-10 games. the LEAGUE not just among rookie tackles.

Thats like saying - dont take Corey Davis, because Jalen Ramsey can lock him up! Dont take Lamp bc Joey Bosa will blow past him!

Actually this is why I want Reddick. I think it was his film I was watching he was playing against Stanley and both won battles here and there but that proves just how good Reddick was even last year. Stanley is one of the better tackle prospects to come out in a long long time.
