If people still felt Ray could be a very productive RB, all these No's would be YES
Don't ever sleep on the Steelers to the poster at the beginning of this thread. Their offense will possibly be a Top 10 offense and Big Ben is still one of the best at backyard football with Top 5 RB in Bell and Top 5 WR in Brown.
Yeah, and he has more heart than Boldin ever did.
Naw...... they both play with passion and fire so I wouldn't say one has more heart than the other.
Exactly!
All the respect in the world for you but you are truly beating a dead horse with this stuff. The conversation is about "THIS YEAR'S" team....not last years! Last year defensively....we had Ray Lewis, Ed Reed, Bernard Pollard, Dannell Ellerbe, Cary Williams to name a few on the roster and Super Bowl winning team. Not this year...and yet....with a few 4th quarter collapses and all....our boys still ranked near the top 10 defensively. Let it go! lol!
Yes sirrrrrrr!
Same here!
Sooo, you want the offense to get credit for moving the ball into field goal range so Tucker can kick for 3pts opposed to them manning the hell up with desire, passion and fire to enforce their will on the opposing defense to score 7pts when they are in the red zone? Wow! Some of those FG's were made cause the defense got the offense the ball inside the other teams territory and they STILL couldn't score a TD. Let's keep it real please! lol!
I asked the same thing! One thing is for certain. Everyone sees things a different way that is for sure! LOL!!

I have never seen or heard of a fan of any team happy or content that their offense is at least moving the ball into field goal range to get 3 points, lol. Guess some people rather try to survive the war than win it.
Every single game? That's not going to happen. No defense is always going to get a stop.
Funny thing is if you gonna expect the the defense to get stops every time and show up in the fourth quarter and get stops every time.... guess what.... you have to expect the offense to score points every time and put points on the board in the 4th quarter every time. You have to hold both units to the same standard.....
I mean seriously -
myth: Flacco supporters make the most excuses.
fact: defense apologists are worse. (see above for proof)
Does the offense get brownie points for every time they started inside their 10?
At what point does the offense get any credit for moving the ball when a FG is kicked? Or are we of the premise that Tuck kicked from our own end zone?
You really want to take pride in the fact that a offense moved the ball in field goal position? We not talking about TDs..... we talking about field goals!
So the defense blew a 4th quarter lead 3 times, two of which we came back and won. And the other we should have won if not for inept offense.
Okay I agree with you that the defense needs to stop blowing fourth quarter leads but when your defense allows an average of 20 points a game and you only go 8-8 the problem is obviously offense. Our defense is above average in points allowed, but our offense is below average in points scored. This isn't even up for debate anymore.
Lol you clearly aren't going to give this one up are you.
I still think the most pertinent stat is the defensive DVOA which we waa massively better in 2013 compared to 2012.
The defense did actually come up with a lot of late game stops this year, but because they couldn't do it every game you want to denegrate a significantly improved unit. Thats fine, you can have your opinion, but if we are talking about fact they are all on my half of the debate.
According the NFL.com, we scored 320 points, just 20 a game. That's ranked 25th in the NFL. Yet, our scoring defense ranked 12th, allowing just 22 points a game.
So, the defense is above average and the offense is well below average. The defense's job is to not allow points and the offense's job is to score points. The defense ranked better (13 spots better) at its job than the offense did at its job. That's all I need to know.
Let me say this about the defense this season. Yes, they failed to make a lot of crucial stops in a lot of games. I can't tell you that they didn't; they did.
fense in more bad situations by turning theHowever, the 22 points allowed per game is misleading by the fact that the offense gave up four pick sixes and a fumble return for a TD, not to mention putting the de ball over more than usual.
Exactly. When you factor in terrible field position and the points given up by our offense, the debate surely favors the defense in a major way. I wont even go into detail all the times the defense put the offense in great field position only to come away with either 0 points or 3. Our field goal kicker made the All Pro first team this season...... that tells you a lot right there.
No. No they're not. Your argument is that yhe defense didn't suck because the offense did. Blaming the offense for the defense not playing to its potential is just a lazy argument, not a fact. I know dean pees is your hero, but the defense was not up to snuff this year.
It's not a lazy argument, that's how football goes. If the O is failing to do their job and constantly putting the D in bad field position, the offense can affect how the defense plays in a major way. That's sports 1 on 1.
Defense's job is to not allow points. Defense ranked 12th in points allowed. Clearly not sucking.
Fact: The Defense faced more high powered offenses than our offense faced more stout defenses....... and our D still played better as a unit than our offense.
Go look it up......
If he wasn't playing for the money he would of taken what the Ravens offered instead of the larger amount the Texans paid for. IMO
Not necessarily true. With Ed IMO, it's more about him feeling like he's still one of the best in the game and he is still very important in the grand schemes of things. He had it on his mind that he wanted a certain price amount for his services not b/c he needs the extra million but b/c of the principal of that matter that he is still very important in the grand scheme of things. It was more of a pride issue and not giving him what he wanted hurt his pride.
I doubt if Ed is playing for the money, I feel he is one of those Ray Lewis clone type of guys and he plays b/c the fire is still burning in him, the passion for the game. Ed still feels he has something in the tank and it cracks me up when people say he should have retired with Ray, for what? Ray came into the league like 7 years before him or something like that and it would be insane for Ed to retire at the same time Ray did considering that. One thing about the Free safety position, you have guys like Woodson ( both ), Sharper just to name a few that played well past their primes and were still effective.
If anyone knows how to utilize Ed, it will be Rex. He wont ask him to play a lot of man or ask him to come up in the box to stuff the run every other play, he will let him do what he does best and that's play centerfield which in turn will make his scheme even better anytime you can play Cover 1 taking away the middle of the field. I feel Ed will make a great impact with the Jets.
I won't be surprised to see Ed make a major impact playing for his old defensive coordinator teaming back up with Landry.
Bring him home.
Boldin shouldn't take a pay cut and when looking at how he underperformed in his 3 years being here, that was under Cam which we all agree didn't play to the strengths of our players, especially Boldin ( no slant's, drag's, etc.... ).
Is this a serious thread or what, lol? Of course there are Ravens fans outside of Baltimore....... every team in the league has fans outside of their hometown.

Yea, Ngata was nothing like how he use to be and I feel more than confident with Williams, Jerrigan, and Co. The primary job of your d-lineman in the 3-4 is to stop the run and eat up blockers to allow your LBs to roam freely, sacks are a plus.
