we were gonna save 3.5 million and get pick 198 but now becuz of the wisdom of Ozzie we save 5.8 millon and get pick number 186.
Ozzie brings in a guy and last 3 years and get rid of him for a 6th round.OK but how do they save 5.8 million? If "Jeremy Zuttah signed a 3 year, $12,250,000 contract with the Baltimore Ravens, including a $3,500,000 signing bonus, $6,500,000 guaranteed, and an average salary of $4,083,333" So .....10 million has to be paid out (3.5 + 6.5) plus he earned 12 million in salary (3 year x 4,083.). Zuttah got 22 million for 3 years and every ones praising Ozzie for the move, yea that's BRILLIANT.
Looks like the Anquan Boldin trade for 6th round pick in which case Ravens got the Keith Wenning.
I do recall Ozzie put off Joe's contract till after the playoffs.
I recall Joe put off his contract until after playoffs
http://www.baltimoresun.com/sports/ravens/ravens-insider/bal-kurt-warner-said-joe-flacco-has-earned-100-million-contract-20130122-story.html Who got played on that decision?
Remember the year of horror when Matt Birk left? Still think the Ravens are finishing better than 8-8?
Ravens paid big money for run stopper after they say its a passing league but New England paid big money and draft picks for CB and WR. In Ozzie we trust?
I don't know why but I think we put too many eggs in the B. Williams basket and it is going to hamstring us quite a bit. Didn't we learn anything from the Flacco contract? Don't get me wrong because I did want the Ravens to retain Williams but at a reasonable contract, not giving a nose tackle a pass rusher kind of contract and not giving Tony Jefferson - a safety a top CB type contract. But, here we are and all we can do is hope they outperform their contracts unlike others that have received mega deals.
We learned that we had to sign Flacco after the Super Bowl.
I do recall Ozzie put off Joe's contract till after the playoffs.
That's great to be a leader but Ravens need field Generals. Guys that see the complete field.
Really Brandon? He got way too much money for that to be entirely true. But, relocation can't be great for anybody. So, in that regard I'm sure he wanted to stay. But, now that its signed and delivered, he can't disappoint like most players do after getting the big bucks. We've seen it too often lately so we hope he's old school and earns his money.
I think you might have something there. Ravens pay for pass performance and New England pays for future performance.
You'll be back Webb. You seen how fast the Ravens go thru players.
"However, Claiborne has struggled with injuries throughout his career" He will fit right in with Jimmy.
"haunted? " Evidently he has not played against Brady and Company very much. One year in the AFC North and you might want to go back to the NFC. They don't call it the Black and Blue Division for nothing.
I hope this signing doesn't mean they postpone drafting a CB until the 3rd day.
If Ozzie does not draft a CB he should be fired before the 17th pick is called. No excuse everything else would be BS.
I seriously don't think Pitta can block because of his hips. Then the problem becomes when he is in the game opponents will know 98% the ball is going his way.
With the pick at #16 it seems that the Ravens will go CB or Edge rusher and there seems to be 2-3 at each position that cold warrant the pick there. The one wild card is RB - Dalvin Cook. Is he the playmaker, the Ravens need to add to the offense? It seems that if we don't go CB in 1st there should be a very good one in 2nd round. Even if we sign Claiborne, I can't see the Rravens not getting a CB in either the 1st or 2nd or 3rd round. Also since we only have 8 picks , I can see Ozzie trading back a few spots 17-22 range in order to get another pick or 2. With 4 picks in first 99 drafted the Ravens need to get 3 solid starters out of those picks. Hopefully one becomes All-pro. Though it may take a few weeks I see the Ravens adding a veteran OL and ILB to fill out those twos positions. Not sure who we add to our WR group. Anyone have any thoughts?
Round 1. Takkirst McKinney- OLB UCLA
or Solomon Thomas- OLB- Stanford
Round 2. De De Westbrook- WR- Okla
Round 3. Fabian Moreau- CB- UCLA
Round 3. Zach Barner- T /G - USC
Round 4. Devonte Fields - OLB Louisville
Round 5. Robert Davis - WR- Ga State
or KD Cannon - WR - Baylor
Round 6. Kareem Are- G- FSU
Provided we land Claiborne if not then we go after TreDavious White -CB LSU in the 2nd round and Ju Ju Smith- Schuster- WR - USC in the 3rd
What do you do if thomas, Ross and tabor are on the board when 16s called? I seen mock drafts with these guys listed. What position is needed most?
Nfl trade rumor...Pitta agrees to restructure contract. He was going to make 5.5mil next 2 years, so good job Pitta. Numbers arent out yet but good job
Now his kids can't go to Harvard but Yale
All these moves need to be based on beating New England. NE just add some big time players and got better than last year.
Weddle is a great recruiter but who recruited Weddle? The great SSSr
It's ovious from past drafts the Ravens recruiters need all the help they can get.
This is a decision I'm not terribly excited about. Not only will Joe's growth remain stunted so will Maxx Williams' lack of opportunity. He is still a health risk and can't gain yards after catch and will trap Flacco into dump off passes to Pitta repeatedly. I don't know why but I think this decision lacks foresight and courage on the part of the Ravens front office.
You can bet if Pitta's salary restructuring includes significant incentives, as it did last year, his good buddy Joe will do whatever he can to help him earn those incentives...perhaps at the expense of the growth of other receivers and maybe even negatively impacting the outcome of the game.
If Pitta blocks like he did last year Joe will be missing games this year if not the season.
Great to hear Weddal knows and wanted Tony hear. That will really improve communications in the back end. Still need depth but Ravens are creating wins with these moves.
Good news. This guy shows up for work everyday for the last 5 years. A rarity these days
Cordrea Tankersley or WRs' Worst Nightmare Jourdan Lewis would be great in our secondary.
When Webb first came to B-More I thought for sure he was going to be a runner up to Edd Reed but his body just kept letting him down. A real shame cause this guy has the Raven heart.
Can Brandon still walk on his hands? Than was impressive for a big guy. Not for straight but balance.
Lets just hope the 2015 Mike Wallace does not return.
