agree with Aiken, he deserved more reps or at the very least constructive feedback on what needed improvement to get more play time. my sense is, my beloved Ravens just don['t have a good Reciever Game strategy/route trees/creative plays to take advantage of skills of WR's - they are to predictable and limited to keying on 1 or 2 WR's for any play (lacks flexibility) and simple progression reads that either go to #1 or #2 or very quickly to the dump-off outlet - come on guys, let's get it together for 2017.

I'm pretty sure he identified already that the Ravens were identifying things that he didn't do well or needed to work on. Seemed he just simply disagreed.

The problem with Aiken is that I don't see a particular set of skills that he brings to the table that differentiates himself from his peers, and I think the league knows that.

Aiken's skill set was being sure handed on 3rd down and moving the chains, which he did when he played.
His peers: Perriman- deep threat with no hands
Wallace- deep threat who occasionally had no hands
Ironically, his best shot for playing time would've come with this years Ravens since, with the departure of SSS, he would have had the surest hands on the team aside from getting one of the top 3 WR in the draft.

Another myth though. Aiken had a higher drop rate (4%) in 2016 than Steve Smith (3%), Mike Wallace (1.7%), and Pitta (1.7%), two of which will be on the 2017 team.

In terms of being a "chain mover", his 1st down % isn't much different than most of his peers in 2016.

    Aiken: 62%
    Wallace: 60%
    Steve Smith: 56%
    Perriman: 58%

Pitta was the only one with a pretty low number.

    What was Perriman's drop rate?

  2. Dunno if anyone else has realized - but with Aiken saying interesting things about the Ravens offensive situation - but I cannot help noticing that in 2 years this was the second time a free agent says negative things about the Ravens offensive management. Last year KO said that he never felt that the O-line is appreciated - and now Aiken... You never hear anything bad like that about the D...

Yep, it may be nothing more than a bitter player... but still.

Where there is smoke there is fire.

We really don't have much of a choice to be honest unless we sign a Wr before the draft. We are thin at Wr so if Mike Williams or Corey Davis is there, we have to draft them. If they're both gone, then go to the other route a get a pass rusher instead or whatever.

Don't forget they are bringing in Ross from Washington for a try out....

That's good news but he is going to have to get by Tennessee Titans, Los Angeles Chargers, Carolina Panthers, Cincinnati Bengals, and Philadelphia Eagles. These teams are listing a big need at WR. Maybe some of them have taken care of that in free agency Don't know.

definitely need to add one with one of the first 2 picks imo. i see us drafting a wr or olb at #16 depending on which one is the bpa

I think we need to go WR, OLB, O-line, RB and then CB just given how deep this draft is for quality CBs... I think we can get a good developmental CB in the 4th round.

I seriously can't believe your endorsing Ozzie to pick another receiver in the first round. Were still waiting for the last one to show up.

Signed by the Buffalo Bills as an undrafted free agent in 2011. Fact, Perriman ranked 20th in drop passes in the NFL while that undrafted guy ranked 121 and 7th on the Ravens team. With all these holes opening up maybe the Ravens can rent a offense for the 2017 season? This 2017 season is getting better and better.

Well, you would expect a rookie to drop more passes than a 5th year player.

The difference between the two is about 2-4 yards/catch.

So basically, Perriman can do more damage (and did last season) with less receptions.

    That's called being efficient.

I think you mean effective. Perriman is more effective than efficient Either way his draft reports said he drop a high rate of passes in college and now its starting to show its ugly head in NFL. John H not going to be able to cope with that this year. Jobs are on the line.

I don't see the logic in picking a WR or a RB in the first round with all the holes the Ravens have on the offensive line. Best to build the defense & Special teams for the future maybe they can start scoring TD again.

I agree but this is a weak year for OL in the draft. You don't pass on Mike Williams because your lacking a right tackle.

It's going to be a tactical decision. Mike might not be at 16 but John Ross could be. I wish Hooker is still there but it's a dream.

    Finally, some civil informative posts.

I'll be interested to get your take on Jefferson and Carr once we're into the season. I smell a 180 in the future

180 from what? I watched Jefferson before he'll be fine. Just not a fan of getting NFC secondary guys. NE got 4 of 6 free agents from AFC opponents. Untill I see the second game I'm sticking with 8-8. Just too much turnover.

He is reputed to be a third down back... good blocker and excellent receiver. He also consistently racks up a lot more yardage after first contact than say Pita. He might just see a lot of targets this year.

Taking the place of Juice's duties.

Juice ran over people. I don't see Danny doing that.

I like this move. It takes the pressure off trying to lock up Claiborne. Are we keeping Webb around as a nickleback?

BTW, I think it is foolish of the web site admins to shut down these forums. They are very active. I don't do Twitter, Facebook, Pinterest, or anything of those things. So I will miss everyone's comments.

Agree. Shutting down the forums is a mistake.

Shame-Yea some of us have fun on here but others take it way too serious. They think its their purpose in life to correct everyone's comments and then throw insults. I believe they are or want to be coaches with no social skills. It would have been nice if they would explain somethings without throwing their little childish remarks into the reply's.

  10. Dallas passing defense had one "good" year in 2015 and finished 5th in the NFL. The other past 7 years they finished 20th an below. Mostly around 26th out of 32 teams. If Carr was so good and the rest of the Dallas secondary players was so bad then why did Dallas allowed him to leave Note: 2015 year Carr was injured a lot. http://www.foxsports.com/nfl/brandon-carr-player-injuries
