  1. John, I think you are down playing the benefits of emotional play especially on the defensive side of the ball. I personally would be delighted to see some anger and destain because the players know how poorly they are performing....Not Just Words ... Emotion like when Ray Ray was on the field!
  2. It's really kind of silly to reference one play in any of the games. There have been many drives that have gone 3 and out particularly when we have a lead and fail to put a team away. The fact that we are in the last minute situation all of the time is another indication of what's wrong with the offense. No killer, put the game away mentality. Soo many times when I am watching the game I am left thinking .... Well that was a wasted opportunity especially in the middle of the games when we have a lead. IMO Joe needs to find a way to maintain the intensity for every drive of the game and just maybe we won't need soo many late minute miracles.
  3. People, People, People. Get off of the coaching staff especially Pees! This is the same staff for the most part that took us to the playoffs and SB. Place the blame where it should be, on the players for not Executing! A clear example of this is all of the defensive backfield excluding None, out of position and the line backing group including Mr. All Pro Mosley who got burnt in coverage more times this past Sunday than a child playing with matches! Za Darris Smith is not ready for prime time yet and he too showed he can't cover! Joe is off with his accuracy throwing the ball behind receivers and not seeing wide open receivers. Those issues are not the coaches, those issues are clearly on the players. We need some STUDS in the defensive backfield. Quite frankly, if you have half a football eyeball you should be clearly be seeing Pees can't win, When he dials up the pressure if it does not get there receivers are wide open, when he plays coverage receivers are beating the CB's and safeties. Pees can't make the plays!
  4. Please people STOP blaming Pees, He does not Play! He can't win, Play the pressure game and the secondary gets burnt, drop in coverage and they still can't cover. It's the PLAYERS!
  5. How will they SPIN this one?? CJ Mosley was lost today, Secondary was it's usual weakness with the exception of Webb who actually played pretty well. Offense lacks a KILLER mentality, when we are up by 14 points, we go to sleep and this time we could not restart. Real Sorry Effort all around. We lost to the Browns at Home!
  6. Well we will find out today just what we have this year. I am really concerned that the week 1 defense was not as good as we think and if so it eliminates the comparison and a potential bright spot. Given Denver's performance against the Chiefs last week I am inclined to think that the defensive showing week 1 was just as likely a by product of Manning still struggling with his new offensive program.
  7. I do not get the rant against Dean Pees really, Everyone wants lots of blitzing frequently but our defensive backfield can't cover. If he pulls them up, they will get beat long, if he plays off they get the short underneath stuff and we need to limit the YAK with good tackling. Dean Pees does not take the field, the players need to make the plays and stop the bone head penalties. I am afraid that the defense that we saw in Oakland is where we really are and the Denver performance was more that their offense is not where it will be yet as shown in their second game at KC. I am concerned that we have a talent problem in the defensive backfield and the PFF ratings for the past game reflect that. That's an objective analysis they provide and the corners and safeties were generally rated poorly with the exception of Webb how somehow escaped pretty clean.
  8. This subject is getting old, over used!
  9. I responded to John's story last week that J Smith was a serviceable corner but not Pro Bowl caliber, not yet anyway and I was castrated on here with about 50 down arrows well, he was burned several times yesterday including for a TD and drew a real dumb penalty, as I said not Pro Bowl caliber. The entire secondary is not playing well and Dalton may just rip them apart again this coming week if we don't get some significant pressure on him.
  10. Receivers failing to get loose on the short underneath routes hurt when we are up against a solid pass rush. Where Was Camp? We need to win the bump game at the line and shake loose for a short catch and run routes and Joe needs to get rid of the ball quickly when we have that kind of pressure. Not all is on the offensive line IMO.
  11. Sorry John, I think J Smith had a serviceable game helped out by the pick 6 however he was beat many times throughout the game playing too far off the receiver. His size is supposed to let him play the bump game and redirect receivers and he did not do that opting to make sure he did not get burnt deep and giving up everything underneath. The ONLY exception was when he jumped the route for the pick 6 which was a Huge play but NO I did not see a Pro Bowl Caliber Corner in Jimmy, not yet anyway!
  12. Honestly, I think I have more confidence in Melvin than Webb. I wish this site would stop hyping him up because he really has not done anything for years and can't stay on the field. I am sure the Broncos will come right at him and successfully too. I hope he proves me wrong, but I have not liked what I have seen from him for years...
  13. Bad move in my opinion. I don't see the upside of Asa Jackson at either CB or returner ... and apparently the Giants agree!
  14. I am a solid Ravens fan, can't wait for Sunday however I think John's report above is a classic case of SPIN. Until we get a solid number 2 receiver and our starting offensive line healthy I am not so sure how well we will move the ball versus Denver in that Environment. After watching pre season I do not worry too much about our front 7 even without the Big shoes of Haloti but I am not sold on the Secondary. I see everything after Jimmy Smith questionable and fear Peyton will pick us apart like Brady did in the 2nd half of the playoffs last year. HOPE I AM WRONG!
  15. Don't see Webb as much of an upgrade if any. He gets a ton off unearned hype on here ... Can't stay on the field either!
  16. I for one do not respond to spin or hype, I watch with my own eyes and I draw conclusions from what I see and I am concerned that we are in for a long season... Sorry, but other than a few Joe to Steve completions and a run or two the offense was at best sputtering, If we do not spread the ball around, teams will double Steve and find a way to shut that down. I do not see where they are ready for Denver's defense and we all of a sudden seem to have players who can't stay on the field. Despite the spin, this secondary seems to have as much problems as last years version and I do not think Webb is an answer. I trust Harbs and Ozzie but it seems to me we have got a long way to go if we are going to perform like the "spin" is suggestion. I hope I am wrong ...
  17. The man has fragile wheels, this makes no sense. Why put him in a role where the contact is potentially the most brutal of the game????
  18. The real indicator of the secondary will show if someone steps up and moves Lardarius Webb further down the depth chart. I was not impressed at all with his play last year even at the end of the season, I certainly do not think he is worth what we are paying him. I do appreciate his contribution to the community of Baltimore but he needs to step up his level of play big time IMO. If we have that kind of quality, we will probably be Ok!
