My wife just came home and said, "You are turning the Caps vs. Pens on soon, right?" I responded to her, "You're funny!!!!!".....lol......I am a huge Caps fans, but I have been waiting a long time for this and it is a seven game series. She can watch her Pens on another TV in this house, this one is mine! :)

    Stand firm!!!

I wonder if the booing Goodell thingy will continue.  I am not a Goodell fan, but they should really stop that mess, lol.  It will probably be louder with so many folks attending since it is outside if they continue it.

It's Philly, they will boo Santa

Realistically if there are 7 or 8 players still on the board that we would grab at 16, what makes you think a team in the early 20s will trade up just to get a player that they could get if they stand pat? I'm really excited for this draft because simply, we can go in so many directions and whatever we do on days 1 and 2 will immensly help our team. It could be highly possible that 7 or 8 of the names mentioned will be there at 16 if there are 3 qbs to go in top 15. I dont see value in trading in any round unless we are trading UP in the 3rd because if we can get an extra 3rd this year i see us grabbing Krupp, Sidney Jones, and a C/G.

Sometimes a team "loves" their prospect and "must" have him. It could happen! Also, we could trade right out of the first into an early second round from some team that wants two first round picks (Cleveland?).

  5. "When Hensley was on the clock, top receivers Mike Williams and Corey Davis were available. Pass rushers Charles Harris, Taco Charlton and T.J. Watt were still on the board. All of the offensive linemen were still up for grabs."

So he could have traded down 7 or 8 spots and still got one of those guys (or others, I'm sure). So he deserved the raspberries.

Do we take Reuben Foster if he falls to us?

  6. I think it might be more difficult this year because there is more talent across the whole board.

That's what I was thinking as I was reading the story.

I am sure every other team is in the same boat as us. And we could go WR, OL, EDGE, or DB in the first round; plus, we could move up or down. It's a tough draft to call. But, as you say, lots of talent there. Just hope we kill this draft, because we need to.

Aside from laughing somewhat at the draft dates (good catch on Heap) - I actually like grabbing a bargain Reuben Foster for the ILB hole. Ozzie as well as the rest of the front office have largely stuck with best man available, not a needs type. Honestly, if Reuben slides he'll be the better version of the Vontaze Burfict everyone loved and didn't pay attention to when he fell out of the draft....

Most mocks - and especially the more trustworthy ones - all have Foster taken before #16. Of course, those are mocks drafts, ans we all know how much trust to put into them - but mocks are useful to get an image of the trends. And Foster definitely trends to go somewhere 10-15. Also, analysts tend to agree that this diluted sample thing won't affect his draft case much - if at all. So, I think we should expect Foster to join Mike Williams and Corey Davis in the category "picked before the Ravens are on the clock".

Always trying to spoil our fun with reality.

this would be a nice haul, with a couple of trade downs.
31: R1P31 WR COREY DAVIS WESTERN MICHIGAN
53: R2P21 CB KEVIN KING WASHINGTON
55: R2P23 EDGE CHARLES HARRIS MISSOURI
    74: R3P10 WR JUJU SMITH-SCHUSTER USC
    78: R3P14 C ETHAN POCIC LSU
89: R3P25 EDGE RYAN ANDERSON ALABAMA
122: R4P15 WR ISAIAH FORD VIRGINIA TECH
127: R4P20 EDGE DEMARCUS WALKER FLORIDA STATE
    133: R4P26 G DANNY ISIDORA MIAMI
    148: R5P4 G ZACH BANNER USC
165: R5P21 OT ERIK MAGNUSON MICHIGAN
187: R6P3 CB BRIAN ALLEN UTAH
188: R6P4 OT CONOR MCDERMOTT UCLA

    LOL

Yes, Omar is dreaming. But I did enjoy the dream.

  9. Sample mocks using Fanspeak program-- picking Corey Davis first...Compared to picking CB and DE first

16 Corey Davis Gareon Conley CB Derek Barnett DE
47 Taylor Moton OT Juju Smith Sch.. WR Cordrea Tankersley CB
74 Rasul Douglas WR Carl Larson Edge Zay Jones WR
78 Carl Lawson Edge Elijah Qualls DL Demarcus Walker DE
122 Ethan Pocic C James Conner RB Ethan Pocic C
159 Eddie Jackson S Will Holden OT Jermine Eluemunor OT/G
186 Jermine Eluemunor OT Ben Bowlware LB Jalon Reeves Maybin LB

I do not know how much higher O.N. has Davis rated than Juju or Jones, But seems to me that the entire draft falls a little better picking a DE first.

I've done a few Fanspeak drafts and a lot of talent falls in way that i'm not sure will happen in real life. I come away with the conclusion we should trade down in round 1 at least 2 or 3 times. And then take all those extra picks to trade up in the 2nd. Seems like a lot of talent bunches up at the top of the 2nd.

  10. I stil lthink that both Mike Williams and Corey Davis will be off the board at #16. And since I cannot imagine Ozzie trading up for either in a draft where he only has 7 picks to begin with, and I also think he won't pick up Ross with such a high pick, I think he won't pick a WR in the first round. And, since there is a definite chance that at least one of the Zay Jones / Cooper Kupp / JuJu / Chris Godwin quartet will still be on the board at #47, we can still get potential starting caliber WR value there. And these 4 guys are the kind of possession/slot receiver types we need, unlike Ross who's a speedster - something we already have in-house in both Wallace and Perriman.

Also, the fact that the combined talent value of (a 1st round pass rusher + a 2nd rounder WR) is almost surely higher in this draft crop than that of (a 1st round WR + a 2nd round rusher) - especially that this 1st round WR is almost surely would neither be Mike Williams not Corey Davis... - it seems pretty likely that even if the prevailing forecast of Ozzie picking a puss rusher and a WR with his first two picks, it will much more probably be a rusher in the 1st and a WR in the second.

But I'm realizing all this amounts to nothing more than another round of big fat speculation...

What do you think of a trade down for an extra 2nd/3rd? There's an excellent chance a good EDGE or CB will still be there. And there is a small chance Davis or Williams could still be there; and if not, there are the 2nd round quartet of WR's (JuJu being my favorite).

The 2012 Superbowl Champion Ravens was in large part a team that was 13-3 in 2006 before Harbs and Flacco, close to winning the Division in 2008, won the division in 2011 and 2012. This is not that team.
This is a team that missed 3 out of the last 4 playoffs and have not won the division in 5 years.

What they need are playmakers : Based on chance of availability
    1. OJ Howard –BPA if he’s there at 16. I doubt it though
    2. Mike Williams – Miss match, will win ball similar to Boldin, Evans, Benjamin, can make Flacco better
    3. Barnett – loss Dummervil, Suggs is older
    4. McKinley – speed rusher
    5. Corey Davis – route runner, size, RAC
    6. Peppers – If the above guys are gone, he’s BPA IMO, will always be around football
    7. Cook – home run RB, running and catching out of backfield

Trading back is gambling when you are already behind. Yes, the Ravens can play Steelers, Patriots, and a lot of teams close, but moral victories do not win games.

This is a deep draft so the teams already ahead of the Ravens will get better too. Stay put and select BPA. No need to wheel and deal with a team that has been 3rd in the division for years.

OK, and what if all 7 of those players are on the board, and lets say for sake of example, Detroit (I picked them simply for easy math) wants to give us a 3rd rounder to move back 5 slots, as the draft chart says is approximately even.... you say we don't do it? That doesn't make ANY sense, because you can still get choice of 2 of those 7 AND another player in the top 100.

First, It's highly unlikely that ALL 7 will still be on the board. But I'll play along.

It's still gamble that not needed. What if we move back 2 spots? And Mike Williams turns out to be a beast. He goes to Titans who then would be another AFC team competing for a playoff spot with Ravens.

Also, What if the Broncos trade with Skins. Now there are 2 AFC teams picking a player higher than you.

IMO, trading back works when you already have a good team and need additional picks for depth and future. A team that missed the playoffs and have not won the divison should play the percentages and take the BPA

Look at mock drafts all over the web. Go to #16 to see who they give the Ravens. Then go look at #26-32. Every time there is someone there I bet you would be happy to take. So we could still get someone very good & pick up another 2nd or 3rd. Think what we could do with two 2nd's & two 3rd's!

We have two many holes to fill & a great opportunity to do so.

"two many" oops! s/b "too many" or "six many"

  13. my wish draft

    Round 1. Mike Williams-WR-Clem
(He is our answer to AJ Green and Antonio Brown)

    Round 2. Tim Williams-OLB-Bamma
    (He is a Raven)

    Round 3. Sid Jones--CB- Wash
    (He is worth waiting for)

    Round 3. Jalen Myrick-CB- Minn
(Most under rated CB in the draft)

Round 4. Ethan Pocic- C- LSU
(Helps secure a position of need / can come in and start)

Round 5. Noah Brown- WR- Ohio State
(he is raw but rare athletic gifts make him a great gamble in the 5th)

    Round 6. Kareem Are - G/T-FSU
(Can play G or T and will move inside where is will fit well in Greg Romans style. Are is a big guy who can move but needs to be coached up) We have the guy for that!

    Round 3. Sid Jones--CB- Wash
    (He is worth waiting for)

Every team thinks they can get him in the third. I think a team that wants him will need to take him in the second.
