He's too aggressive at this point. I feel like he's going to be a flag magnet his first year. I'm not even sure if he has the top speed either. I think one player that isn't getting enough attention is DJ White from Georgia Tech. You are right, actually. I really like Alexander, but he has gotten lucky with some poorly thrown balls when he was beaten. He isn't the shutdown CB people make him out to be, but I do love him quite a bit. His ability to diagnose & read the QB is exceptionally good & he could be a great fit with Dean Pees & I think he has the talent to be effective in either man or zone.
Did you miss all the receivers that Alexander has allowed to fly by him only getting bailed out by horribly thrown balls by QBs? Or the fact that he's literally holding, making illegal contact, or having a pass interference on almost every play. The more I watch the film, the more I like Alexander better than Hargreaves or Ramsey at CB. You could argue Ramsey is a more talented prospect at S, but CB is more valuable than S. Plus, even if you take a player projected to go 9-14 at #6, thats not really much of a reach.
Give me the 2 fastest receivers at the combine because it obviously works for the Steelers
But you're assuming that the LT we draft is going to be great right off the bat. Looking at history it's LT struggle and recently teams are just taking LT because they assume they are safe picks, but they are not. We're better off drafting a playmaker that can have an impact right away and invest in a LT in later rounds and have him develop.Have you seen our offense when James Hurst is forced to sub in for Eugene Monroe? LT is an absolutely important position for this team. Even if dominant pass rushers line up on the right, it does not mean teams won't look for the best match ups, JJ Watt and Khalil Mack come into mind, DCs are going to scheme these guys to get their best matchups, that would mean them going up against guys like Hurst. I do prefer to go into other directions if we re-sign K.O as our LT, but if not then we need to find one, trade up if need-be.
I have a question. Why is a LT one of our biggest needs? I don't think they are as valuable as they once were. The most dominate pass rushers in the league as of right now are usually lined up on the right side. Plus the success of teams getting the ball out quickly to their playmakers has changed the way people look at pass protection. Not to mention drafting a LT high isn't a sure thing like most may think. Just look at the past few drafts.
TE are asked to do a lot more than just catch the ball. Kelce and Barnidge were horrible run blockers which brings their overall down. Gilmore, Boyle, and Williams were about average as a pass catcher, pass blocker, and run blocker. This brings their overall up.I don't know what these rankings are based off of but they are a little suspect to me, imo.
For Example: Travis Kelce - 72 rec 875 yards and 5 TD's compared to Maxx Williams - 32 rec 268 yards 1 TD. Yet Maxx is rated 3 spots ahead of Kelce.
Again, Nick Boyle - 18 rec 153 yards 0 TD's compared to Gary Barnidge - 79 rec 1,043 yard 9 TD's yet Boyle is 4 spots ahead of Barnidge.
Take it for what it's worth but the list doesn't make much sense to me. Don't get me wrong, our TE's are beasts and have bright futures but the stats are what they are.
I think you're confused about Zuttahs abitilties. He hasn't been a very good pass protector. True he's only given up 1 sack but he given up 29 hurries which led the league amongst centers last year. Zuttahs is a far better run blocker than a pass protector.Zuttah only saves $2.5M. I honestly think we keep him for that price. Continuity along the OL is an important thing. I think Urschel has a place, don't get me wrong. I've been a fan of him since that draft & talked him up before anyone really did. That said, I wouldn't cut Zuttah because of Urschel. I would keep both. Zuttah played LG for the Buccaneers. I'd even put him at LG & have an OL of KO | Zuttah | Urschel | Yanda | Wagner since Zuttah has been a better pass protector than a run blocker. This way, he gets some help from both KO & Urscehl, who I think are better than him in this regard.
Smith was didny even play football until his senior year in high school. Then he attended a JC and transferred in as a junior he's barely played football and extremely raw. Dupree was hyped up to be a top 10 pick with very good run stuffing and pass rushing abilities. The only knock on him was that he never got many opportunities to rush the passer as Kentucky asked him to drop into coverage often.not nearly as much as Dupree, who was pretty much 99% potential. Pretty sure ZD was a senior when drafted.
So was Smithwell everyone knew Dupree was a project coming out, that's no surprise
Sad that Zadarius Smith is better than Bud Dupree lol
They're moving Brown around a lot. Jimmy has stayed at RCBWhy is Wright covering Brown?...
I agree that Hargreaves is athletically gifted but he doesn't have it put together, I think its high risk high reward drafting him in the top 5 he reminds me way too much of Justin Gilbert. Lawson may be the best pure pass rushing OLB to come out since Von Miller. He's just so smooth and gets pressure effortlessly. If it weren't were for the injuries we're probably talking about a top 5 pick. Those are really the only two who gave him trouble. He's also consistently done it. I get it that you may not like him but this is what I expect Ozzie to do. Ozzie does favor the SEC. I think he'll value Hargreaves as a result and because he's been consistent.
As for Carl Lawson, I think he's the Lawson I still haven't watched.
Armstead is already the niners best player on defense. Buckner and Bosa are on the same level, Buckner may be even better. Canty is a free agent after this season and we have no interior pass rush, Buckner would be a great addition to our d line.I just feel like Buckner is only a tad more developed than Armsted was last year, and that scares me. We have plenty of D-Line depth and could develop him, but with a pick that high you want immediate impact which is something I don't see from him. At least not to the level of Bosa
I don't see the top level talent in Hargreaves. He got smoked by Cooper last year and Calvin Ridley just tore him to shreds. Anyway where's the Carl Lawson love?
The third of the passes that actually do get completed go for an average of 18 yards. That's a high number in terms of yards given up.1/3 of the passes that actually get completed. So 1/3 divided by 31%...that's a much lower number.
18+ yards per catch is a ridiculously high number. You're telling me that 1/3 passes is going to go for 18 yards. I'd take that all day.well i can tell you mackensie alexander had a 31% completion against for an average of 18+ yards per catch but only allowed 1td what can you tell me from that lol. Not much more....
I think he's just as dominate as Bosa. He tore Joshua Garnett apart who is widely considered the best guard in this draft. I feel like Buckner is no where near his sealing.reasons?
Why is a completion percentage even important? Unless you can show me yards given up along with it it's a meaningless statisticHargreaves has the second highest completion percentage but he also has very few targets. But yeah that does help the case for Alexander and Lewis. 84 targets with a 34 % completion percentage is pretty damn good.
I'll take Buckner over Bosa
I don't see that top 10 pick talent in Hargreaves. The more I watch him the more I see Justin Gilbert. Athletic freak, but he doesn't have it put together. There's going to be a lot of torching going on whoever selects him. I think Desmond King is far and away the best CB in the draft.Smith is a beast. He may very well be the best player at his position in this draft. I once said that of Hargreaves but I think it's more true for Smith than any other after watching him more closely.
Bad play? Hurst doesn't even belong in the NFL not at LT anyway.not when your franchise qb just tore his acl due to bad lt play and you still have no solution
I'm not even mad anymore. It's probably the best thing that could've happened to us.

I don't feel confident at all when it comes to taking a LT. They struggle immensely in their rookie season some even after that. Looking at the list and not a single LT drafted in the first round in the past couple of drafts have played well. Here's the list in case you guys that are hoping we draft a LT
Eric Fisher, Luke Joekel, Greg Robinson, Ereck Flowers, Matt Khalil, Riley Reiff, Jake Mathews, and Taylor Lewan. Remember that Robinson was the can't miss LT prospect and he's been awful after being drafted #2 overall. I don't understand why LTs are considered safe picks.
