I will mourn if something actually happens. Until then, I cross my fingers and pray that something works out.
i think you're in the same boat as Joe Flacco. in the postseason, Q/Joe/Caldwell really started to gel. it would be a shame to take away the million dollar man's greatest asset, and I'm sure he thinks the same way as all of us do.
Torrey could be incredibly versitile and with another off season he should be our #1. Torrey has very good ball skills and imo he could give Q a run for his money in the hands department after another offseason.
i agree completely: the sky is the limit with him. however, as the way it stands right now I'm not convinced. we'll have to wait until the preseason to get a fair gauge on things.
In all honesty Boldin is going to have to be replaced eventually anyway. I personally don't believe he is going to be cut, but with the depth at receiver in this year in the draft it could be possible. I was expecting Torrey to take over #1 duties regardless of whether Boldin is here or not. Boldin in reality has a year or two left in him.
my definition of a #1 reciever is someone who you can dump it off to, they're reliable, versatile, etc... none of our recievers match that. our current playbook uses Torrey as a 'run-down-the-right-sideline-as-fast-as-you-can' kind of guy. Q is reliable and has incredible hands, but he is slow and can't really run vertical routes effectively. JJ is good, but he's had some crucial drops. i agree that he has a few years left, but his consistent production is unrivaled ATM. we would have to look to the elsewhere to replace that, i think.
I would rather keep Boldin and Reed... Ellerbe seems to be a bit selfish....
Would any of you be willing to take a chance on Larry Grant? A cheap jack of all trades LB who can do it all. Would start for most teams
agree. however, keeping ellerbe is better in the long term. losing reed and boldin would be a crushing blow to this team, not only in production but also in leadership/intangibles. don't think Torrey is ready to step up as no 1 reciever just yet and the FS market looks a little depleted IMO. as promising as ellerbe may seem, he might be easier to replace.
Boldin is almost never open...that is a problem. You are clearly undervaluing how much Ellerbe meant to our defense last year. He was really our only consistent playmaker out there. I acknowledge the injuries are a concern, but he is young and improving. He is a priority to the FO and I am glad they have more foresight than most fans.
doesn't matter that u can't get open if ur hands have their own center of gravity. Q is big, tough, a great blocker and has some of the best hands in the league. We'll see flacco's quality of play go down if he retires. i agree that ellerbe is a bigger priority, but Boldin is a huge cog in our offense that we can't afford to lose.
I'm going to see Django on Friday night. I've been wanting to see that ever since i saw the trailer.
alright. i was born in Oregon (born premature while my mom was visiting relatives) but i was raised in the San Diego area. when i was 5 years old my dad took me to the chargers-ravens game, and even though i wasn't really supposed to i pretty much fell in love with the ravens. moved around a lot but i currently live in Tampa, FL. lots of steelers fans here. ick.

it would be interesting if he were cut. Dragonfly would get a much bigger chance to step up on offense, and guys like Doss could try to redeem themselves. however, interesting isnt the same as good. much prefer if Q stuck around for a few years.
