  1. 44 grand for a deflated football? Jeez, another couple more lbs would have fetched for a 100 grand. I bet the buyer is hoping #12 will sign it someday to flip it for a huge profit. Only in America. Git'er done!
  2. Forsett is looking powerful and Gilmore is MONSTROUS! for a tight end, our own Gronk. Man, this is going to be fun to watch this year. Go Ravens!
  3. Wasting your time? What you think you're doing to my time when countering? Actually, I don't consider this wasting my time, just a banter between two football fans on who is better is all. it's the American way my friend. My main points are Dumervil is a better pass rusher and salary comparisons are a moot point because of snap counts. We all agree that Dumervil is a pass rushing specialist, right? Just because Dumervil is on the field does not mean there is definitely a passing play on nearly every down he plays. I will try my best to find out how many plays Dumervil and Houston actually rushed on passing plays and if able to do so, break it down. This conversation has helped me narrowed it down better in terms of getting better percentages. You are correct in that on average 40% of the plays are running plays as the top 15 rated passing teams are on average slightly above 60% passing while rest of league is under 60%. Using your logic, out of 603 snaps with 40% rushing, Dumervil saw 241.2 running plays and 361.8 passing plays, well below 391 threshold you mentioned for Dumervil to be a better pass rusher. In order to be at least 391, teams would have to pass at least 65% of the time Dumervil is in the game which is crazy and counterproductive for opposing teams with Dumervil in the game, especially Suggs on the other side. Dumervil played over 80 more snaps than Upshaw and I find it hard to believe that teams will pass with Dumervil in the game at least 65% of the time.
  4. One tenth of one percent does not really separate players when it comes to combined totals of having a hand in plays made from tackles/sacks. Dumervil averages 7.5 yards lost to opposing teams on sacks while Houston averages 4.5 yards lost to opposing teams in sacks. Unless you show me facts in numbers on snap count of both players on passing plays as well as whether they rushed or fell back to cover a running back going out for a pass. Giving me guesstimates does not cut it. I am giving you facts I have found so far through reputable NFL stat web sites. I don't really care about anything but pass rushing ability and Doom is a better pass rusher. Nothing will change my mind, especially guesstimates, no disrespect intended.
  5. I am happy we got T.Jernigan and B.Williams on the team. Both are monstrous and very good players. Looking forward to seeing them both get more snap counts and show the world why the Ravens drafted them. It is going to be a good year.
  6. There were 529 pass attempts against the Chiefs with Houston playing in nearly all of them, there were 584 pass attempts against the Ravens and Doom most likely saw a lot less passing plays because he only played 603 snaps. To say that Doom rushed for 90% of his snaps is far stretch as if teams don't try to trick Ravens with running plays while Doom is in game or try passing plays with Upshaw in the game. Opposing teams plan plays according to who is on the field on the other side and will try to use plays that expose Ravens weakest spots, am sure Upshaw saw plenty of passing plays as teams were gunning for the secondary when injuries tore apart the secondary. Your last paragraph makes no sense to me, bottom line for me no matter how you try to use your logics is that Doom is part time, and Houston is full time and yearly salary comparison is a moot point because of snap counts. To further illustrate Doom is a better player, out of 603 plays, Doom had 17 sacks and 36 total tackles (Assist and Solo), he had his hand in 11.37% of plays. Houston had 22 sacks and 68 tackles which translate into having a hand in 11.47% of plays. Dumervil is 5 years older so it is not realistic for Dumervil to be an every down player, same with Suggs. Speaking of Suggs, Suggs has only 7 less tackles than Houston in nearly 200 less snaps. Houston had just one great year in sacks and all of a sudden, there is salary comparison to Dumervil which is ludicrous because Dumervil and Suggs are both better players than Houston, Houston plays more is why but when using percentages, it is obvious both Dumervil and Suggs are better players. Heck, Ray Lewis used to be an every down player and Lewis was a target from several offensive players and he still gets twice as many tackles as Houston. This whole thing started because our Ravens reporters was trying to make salary comparison bigger than it really is without taking any consideration into account. Dumervil is a better pass rusher without a doubt.
  7. I had a feeling that someone would try to shoot it down as I had the combo snaps in mind too but using combo is misleading because Upshaw is being asked to set the edge and stop the run first. That precious one or two seconds of Upshaw doing his job on passing plays cost him sacks. There are plenty of plays where opposing teams ran running plays to counter Dumervil/Suggs being on the field. My mentioning a part time player and full time player is the reason that it is unfair and misleading to compare salaries. I still think Dumervil is a much better pass rusher than Houston. Houston has the freedom to sneak through holes while Dumervil has to straight up go through offensive tackles which is much more difficult. Consider that Chiefs played top 15 passing teams 10 times and the Ravens 7 times means Houston saw a lot more passing plays. I am not going to go into PFF any further. I still stand by taking Dumervil/ Upshaw combo over Houston any day, hands down, they win more regular games and playoff games than Houston.
  8. Why are we still talking about Houston's salary? With Dumervil involved? They are two different players, Dumervil is part time, Houston full time but get this, I would take a Dumervil/Upshaw combo any day over Houston. Let's compare, shall we? Houston played 1,033 snaps last year, got 22 sacks. Dumervil played 603 snaps, got 17 sacks. Houston got 5 more sacks but also played 430 more snaps. Let's average that out, shall we? Houston has 1033 snaps played with 22 sacks which is an average of a sack every 46.9 plays. Dumervil played 603 snaps and had 17 sacks which is a sack every 35.5 plays. Who would you rather have? A player who gets a sack every 35.5 plays or a player who gets a sack every 46.9 plays? Dumervil, on average, is way better than Houston when it comes to sacks and throw in Upshaw as part time to stop runs and we win games. That's why we made the playoffs and KC didn't. Team efforts, not individual, wins games. It's ridiculous comparing salaries when snap count differs widely.
  9. Love reading stories about Forsett. A good man and very smart on saving his money. I wish I had his smarts when it comes to saving money when I was much younger. Am glad he is playing for the Ravens. Hope he has a good year.
  10. I have great respect for Juan Castillo. Thank you for all you do Juan Castillo, hope you'll be around for many more years.
  11. Looks like Tucker will choose money over all else as he is obviously telling the world money is the only thing with money bags icons on his twitter post. I just hope they are able to work it out. We have many players who choose team over money by meeting in the middle and while Tucker will get paid without a doubt, just hope his asking price will not turn off the Ravens.
  12. Any win over the Steelers is way up top, playoffs or not, although beating that cheating #12 in last year's playoff would have been tops. Not because I don't cherish wins over the Steelers any less but because I don't like mouthy Kraft, sneaky Belichick and cheating #12.
  13. There are thousands of people out there treasure hunting, some with metal detectors, others diving into water. I don't see anything the man did wrong, it's possible he may not have known beforehand at first that there is a law that he has to return a treasure he found only to find out later that he had to return the ring. I did not know there was a law to return items found on treasure hunts till just now. Of course the right thing to do is return it, knowing what he was looking for but that does not make him a dirtbag, he had other motives, just like lots of treasure hunters. What he should have done is if he knew later that he had to return the ring, he should have contacted local media like the Baltimore Sun to record him returning the ring and he'll likely get a reward to use toward his girlfriend's engagement ring and he would have been a hero to his girlfriend and everybody else who follows the Ravens. I would not have kept it as my grandmother used to say to me many times, to undo to others what you would want others to undo to you. For the lady to call the man a thief outright and threatening to call police was not the cool thing to do. She could have kindly explain the law to him and maybe could have understood he was on a treasure hunt and worked something out with him, good thing Smyth Jewelers recognize and understood the situation. The man on his own dime(Gas and whatever else he paid for on the trip to find the ring) as well as his time to go on a treasure hunt. Yes, there are treasure hunters out there trying to hit the jackpot for money and there is nothing wrong with that but the man should have done the right thing and the lady should have been more understanding and kinder, not to mention, also be thankful her ring was found.
  14. I was all set to watch Celebrity Family Feud with Terrell Suggs as one of competitors, only to find out it has been moved to June 28th. I had to find out through my DVR search of future shows rather than media update. Oh well, I will set the DVR to record the show again. lol
  15. Another analyst has Ravens at #1 pre-season? (Lets out a long whistle) Wow, I am loving this. Man, I would love to see a Ravens/Packers Super Bowl which almost happened last year.
  16. Excellent points, I agree.
  17. I completely agree that on paper is different than on field, that's obvious. I am aware that some very good players are below average in some measurements and some players with certain above average measurements don't pan out. Most teams go by measurements, someone can have the best hands on catching footballs in the world but lack certain measurements to be an NFL player. The only difference between you and I is that I think measurements does matter and your point of view is don't go by measurements, whether it be 3 of 4 or even 2 of 4. Waller has 4 of 4 (Speed, height, weight and strength) 9 of each top 10 WRs have above average measurements, players like Boldin and Welker are that 1 of every top 10 with below average speed. The teams look at measurements first and a look see later, not the other way around is all I was respectfully saying. Waller has an above average chance of making it in the NFL because he has above average measurements across the board. I really hope Waller pans out as he has all the measurements to be very good or even great.
  18. Ok, I understand what you are getting at. I respectfully disagree, you make it sound like there is a major gap as in several feet apart. 1/10th of a second is basically a blink. Try this, it is a link to an online stop watch, click start with your mouse and click in the same spot right away, as fast as you can, the fastest I could do clicking in the same spot twice as fast as I can was barely over 1/10th of a second (.158) Here is the link, have fun - http://stopwatch.onlineclock.net/ Also for fun, try blinking your eyes 10 times within one second. (I have 18 mbps speed)
  19. Many athletes have insurance that protects them in case of injury. Each insurance is different. An example, K.O. is rated very high to likely get a contract extension and probably has insurance in the millions if he is permanently hurt before the next contract. What may work for K.O. may not work for another player, for example, a player playing on the practice squad will not be able to get the same kind of insurance because they are less likely to land a big contract than K.O., each injury insurance agreement is based on probabilities of each athlete. K.O. likely bought the house knowing he is secure either way.
  20. When Moms gets taken care of after decades of raising their kids, it is a beautiful thing. The way it ought to be. Men and women like Osemele and Urschel, whether they are an athlete or not, is what makes the world a little better. God bless Moms.
  21. 40 yard dash times of the top 20 NFL WRs in average yardage last year below - 1 - Antonio Brown - 4.47 2 - Demaryius Thomas - 4.38 3 - Julio Jones - 4.39 4 - Jordy Nelson - 4.51 5 - Emanuel Sanders - 4.41 6 - T.Y. Hilton - 4.34 7- Golden Tate - 4.42 8 - Dez Bryant - 4.52 9 - Jeremy Maclin - 4.45 10 - Odell Beckham Jr - 4.43 11 - Randall Cobb - 4.46 12 - DeAndre Hopkins - 4.41 13 - DeSean Jackson - 4.35 14 - Alshon Jeffrey - 4.48 15 - Rob Gronkowski - 4.68 16 - Calvin Johnson - 4.35 17 - Steve Smith Sr - 4.39 18 - Anquan Boldin - 4.71 19 - Mike Evans - 4.43 20 - A.J. Green - 4.5 Only 2 of 20 are below the average speed of 4.55 - Rob Gronkowski and Anquan Boldin, both are special with a lot of strength to move aside defenders at line of scrimmage. Waller has both strength and speed. Welker is a short yardage specialist, his average yards per catch would not be a top 40 in any year he played, many times he got manhandled at line of scrimmage. He benefited playing with #12 whose specialty is short yardage/high percentage throws. I mentioned Waller has potential, nothing more. Like you, I am hoping for the best, Measurements does matter when it comes to throwing/pushing off defenders at line of scrimmage as well as win battles of jump balls. Half of top 10 WRs has above average measurements. Also speed does matter as 18 of top 20 WRs has above average speed.
  22. The difference between 4.46 and 4.36 is less than one foot, basically an eyelash, throw in Waller's height and strength and that more than makes up for it. The average speed among WRs and CBs is 4.55 so Waller has above average speed. Dez Bryant runs a 4.52 and is one of the top WRs. Waller is bigger than Bryant and faster, so there is potential that Waller could be a top notch WR for the Ravens alongside Perriman in the future.
  23. Set up my DVR to record the Family Feud shows so I don't miss seeing Suggs, gonna be fun watching Steve Harvey ribbing the NFL players or maybe get on Sugg's case which would be priceless. lol Kudos to SSS surprising ticket holders, am sure that made their day. Very impressed with Suggs as RB in high school, wonder why we don't use him on goal line situations, he knows how to hang onto the ball, just ask his legs.
  24. Plenty of Ravens fans cares about what Welker's wife said, while you're right organizations don't take much consideration into what player's wives think, what Welker's wife said is beyond the norm of simple opinions, it was not a public statement of "my team is better than yours" or even " We got lucky" but rather it was downright trashy, mean spirited and classless. 31 other teams probably don't care what she said, only one team, the Ravens will take it seriously enough to not consider Welker. The Ravens release players for doing wrong on their spare time, so I don't think they would consider Welker at all because of that public statement she made, even if he is playing at a high level, especially a statement made against a Ravens player whose statue is next to Johnny U. Plenty of player's wives flip out and make comments in the heat of the moment, that is nothing new, what Welker's wife did was not the norm in the heat of the moment, it was a deliberate attack in which she took the time to thought it out and type it, it's the context and meaning of the words she chooses. The Welkers are not deserving of donning purple.
  25. I see the most popular vote of this page is NO to Wes Walker, I am in total agreement. I have never flipped out over a player the Ravens signed, sure there were some signing I was not fond of but never flipped out. I would literally flip out if Wes Walker was signed playing for the Ravens. His wife Anna and Wes himself does not deserve to be a part of the Ravens organization. Her comment - "Proud of my husband and the Pats. By the way, if anyone is bored, please go to Ray Lewis' Wikipedia page. 6 kids 4 wives. Acquitted for murder. Paid a family off. Yay. What a hall of fame player! A true role model!" That shows how completely ignorant she is, going on a childish rant. To make a statement on full public view on Facebook that is intended to be mean spirited and then say she did not meant for the statement to be mean is an insult to intelligent people. I cannot believe we are reading this story unless the intend is to see how riled up Ravens fans would get at the mention of Wes Walker coming here. Ray Lewis is part of Ravens family and no one gets a free pass when it comes to disparaging family. Besides, Walker is injury prone. We have plenty of talent at WR for someone to play the slot. I am much more comfortable to use Camp when healthy or Carter as slot than Walker, both are younger and faster then Walker. It would be a terrible waste to cut one of Ravens future talented young receivers for Walker. Not to mention on how many times I would cringe seeing Walker in a Ravens uniform all year.
