  1. there were many things in this game that were irritating to watch for me. One glaring thing was the way our receivers keep stopping short of the sticks that would give us a first down. We were being forced to take what they gave us, which wasn't enough to sustain a drive. This happened so many times Monday I can't count'em. Same thing...1,2,3 and out. The defense was gassed, so of course, the Pats were well-rested and started pushing our guys around and no one could get to Brady...he just picked us apart in the pocket. We only got to him one or twice all night. While Flacco spent most of the night running for his life. And then the other thing I hate most of all, which was a staple in our defense for the longest over the past few years...we would fight hard from behind in a game in the last minute, and leave too much time on the clock while the other team gets the ball and advances the ball down the field in big chunks until finally going for the jugular with a TD pass to the endzone! End of game...

    True!

  2. We must not lose to the hoard coming down I-95.  I think we could survive without Jimmy in this game but certainly it would be a defensive task for the remaining away games with Steelers and Bengals.  Regarding the NE game: The Hogan catch deep downfield to make it 29-20 was so painful to look at that the usual curse words were not suitable.  It amazes me that No other team has a 96-1 stat starting the second half with a lead . That is great coaching! I have to give them stratosphere appreciation for a stat like that.

This might be the worst Pats offense, talent-wise, that the Ravens have ever faced and they do so with perhaps the 3rd-best defense in the Ravens' vaunted history.  Conversely, the Ravens offense is as talented as it has ever been, but has underperformed for the bulk of the season for various reasons (injuries, play calling, etc.).  They face one of the better Pats defenses since Dean Pees last coached that unit.  So over all, a fairly even matchup save for coaching (advantage Pats) and special teams (advantage Ravens).

I see the Ravens making far more untimely penalties than the Pats, and losing the turnover battle, but still eking out a close victory.

I hope the refs are NO factor

We've now moved up to #6 on ESPN's power rankings, up from #13 last week. Quite a jump. And in the explanation it even says don't fall too hard for Flacco's performance until he does it again. So i guess theyre basing it on the strength of our D and ST.

We're one spot behind the Steelers (#5) and four behind the Pats (#2).

Was surprised to see us getting that sort of ranking; though not surprised to see the Steelers one spot above.

Even had us ranked above the Chiefs. The only NFC team we're ranked lower than are the Cowboys and Seahawks. Pretty interesting.

    > I always believed the power rankings are an "ego" stat created by media, specifically a hack writer in Boston or Seattle.

@RyanMink - I like your work but I gotta disagree with you about P-man. He just needs the ball in stride and in space and voila... Very close to a Randy Moss (IMHO - best receiver ever) type of receiver. Joe just needs to lead this man... don't get me wrong... Randy is unique but they both have speed and the ability to go vertical like nobody's business. We just have not pressed the issue (i.e. called the plays) like we did with Torrey. Nothing personal but P-man is better than Torrey.
I'm writing this after the Miami game when the whole O came alive - including play calling/planning. We're on a role and I think you are going to see P-man come to prominence... coaches just have to understand what they have and how it can work...
Wallace and P-man and so many more weapons...
    I'm stuttering with anticipation.
    Go Ravens!!!

If Morningwig adapted a shotgun instead of drop back, Joe could get the short and mid yardage gains while the Oline has less time to battle. (works for Brady)

Throw in Jerry Rice along with Moss.
