Of course Harbs expects the 2017 Ravens D to be great. After the massive investment over the last 2 years in Weddle, B Williams, Tony Jefferson, Carr, and 11 draft picks in the last 2 years, it had darn well better be.

The cupboard is pretty bare on the other side of the ball, where OCs have been fired like Browns' QBs, partially due to coaching ineptitude and certainly due to a lack of talent. There is precious little cap space to shore up the offense, so I'm not sure what to expect the TEAM to do in 2017.

Agreed. If this D doesn't produce this year, it's on Pees.

I too am nervous about the O. Apparently our strategy this year is to hold opponents to low scores, while our offense gets just far enough over the 50 to let Tucker pile up 3-pointers.

Hope Tucker has good legs ALL year.

  2. I like Humphrey a lot. He needs to be coached on getting his head turned around quicker while the ball is in the air in man coverage. In zone he appears to do great, but savvy route runners will get him. I wonder how much he will be utilizes year 1.

Will pees use Bowser as a joker defender or will he try to keep him plugged in as OLB?

What is a joker defender? I never heard that Phrase.

  3. Free agency may be the only way to improve the offense, but we have very little cap room to do so.   Even if one presumes we cut Watson and Arrington when they are declared healthy enough, we still have to sign all of our draft picks.  We have plenty of bodies but no clear answer at WR, C, and RT and could probably use a faster RB.

    Right. Agree.

Hmm... I watched the memphis tape for Bowser and I don't think he was effective at all. He couldn't shed blocks or get penetration and he didn't seem all that persistent on plays. But, again that;s just me watching him for the first time. I'm sure the Ravens front office has watched a ton of tape on this guy and know he's really good enough to warrant pick #47

I am sure they watched lots of tape on Arthur brown too. And Elam. I guess you dont know until they get out there and play, but I am extremely underwhelmed by most of the selections again this year. I am going to go out on a limb and say if Cleveland gets average line play and can find a QB who is adequate, we may finish last in the north.

Cleveland is going to be our main competition in a few years over Pitt. Pitt will fall off drastically when Ben Retires. Cincy will forever be that middle of the pack team with Marvin Lewis and their Ownership. They never spend on free agents and always have plenty of cap room to do so.

I feel like we have stacked our defense, but it is hard to see how our offense will be much better in 2017 unless we feed dixon. Our running game is bad, and our pass pro was a weakness due to the lack of balance. We never got anything done in the Redzone last year.

It's possible the free agent market is the key for improving that side of the ball.

    My Ideal draft:

    Round 1: WR Corey Davis
    Round 2: OLB Carl Lawson
Round 3: CB Teez Tabor (Whatever CB falls)
    Round 3: RT Roderick Johnson
    Round 4: RB Kareem Hunt
    Round 5: C Tyler Orlosky
    Round 6: QB Brady Gustafson

What I think the Ravens will do:

Round 1: OLB Takkarist McKinley (or RT Cam Robinson on trade back)
    Round 2: CB Kevin King
    Round 3: DE Tanoh Kpassagnon
    Round 3: C Ethan Pocic
    Round 4: RB Brian Hill
    Round 5: RT Darrell Williams
    Round 6: WR Deangelo Yancey

I like the top one. your ideal draft. Those top 4 picks would be perfect, except I would prioritize getting Eflein in there for our Center for the next 10 years.
    We need to draft Teez.
If Davis isn't there at 16, I would trade down to get that extra pick for Eflein, and make sure I draft Ju Ju.
Here's my ideal draft with a trade down out of 16-

    Forrest Lamp
    Ju Ju
    Carl Lawson
    Teez
    Eflein
    Roderick Johnson

Then if it were still possible to get Perine, that would be amazing. I haven't really studied Hunt yet at all

That would be an INSANE draft class for us

Teez and Lawson are top 15 talents imo. Crazy to me how much their stock has fallen over the past month

You put a lot of effort into your choices. Good work.

Director of Performance Steve Saunders has made some notable changes to the team's offseason conditioning program, and the players have taken notice.

I hope we take extra care of Achilles it seems to be the popular injury lately especially our secondary

When the average person hears about injuries, especially Achilles, most would assume that it's because of lack of strength and conditioning. But there are other several factors that could be at play. Popular antibiotics such as Cipro & Levaquin have show a direct relation to ruptured tendons (so much so, the FDA advises against them). Taking Corticosteroids like Cortisone, Hydrocortisone & Prednisone has also shown to increase Achilles tendonitis & ruptures.

A player could have bronchitis or a sinus infection and be taking Cipro as an antibiotic with a Symbicort breathing treatment and he's just increased his chances of an Achilles tear or rupture exponentially.

With staph infections rampant in the NFL the last few years (JJ Watt almost lost his leg last year), I can imagine the use of Cipro & Z-Pak has been huge - thus the significant increase in Achilles injuries.

    Incredible! Thanks

anyone but a WR at 16,unless they trade back a few spots to like 20. i just dont see any of the WRs worthy that high, and our WR track record is bad as the browns picking QBs. im all for trading back a few spots and picking up extra picks and someone like Ramzcyzk or the best available push rusher, then going for either Zay Jones or Kupp in the 2nd.

If you don't believe any of the WRs are worthy of a pick as high as #16 (and virtually every analyst alive would disagree with that) ...  that's a valid reason to not pick a WR .. but the notion that we're bad at picking WRs - that is NOT a valid reason to avoid a WR with our 1st pick. Using your logic, had OBJ fallen to 16 a couple years ago, we should have avoided him, because we're bad at picking WRs. That makes zero sense.

Yes, we've picked 3 disappointing WRs in the 1st round, however the jury is still out on one (Perriman) and the other 2 were made 13 and 16 years ago. To think that draft busts from over a decade ago will shape your draft approach is mind-boggling.

also lets not forget who we had as a QB back 13 and 16 years ago. We were going thru QBs like sweet corn thru the hired girl.

Sami... That was quite a catchy phrase.
