  1. The selection of C.J. Mosley will in due time send a clear message to the Ravens and eventually all other 31 teams in the NFL. Mosley may well have been the "best player available" at #17 tonight. But he was not the best player for the Ravens and more importantly he does not play a position that will impact any of games that the Ravens will play in the future in the same way that a dynamic wide receiver, shut down corner or bookend offensive tackle can. I love Ozzie. I love DeCosta and our front office. But I actually grimaced when I heard Joe Horwitz talk about Alabama getting a bad reputation for the NFL quality of their defensive players at the the Raven's draft luncheon the other day. Sorry Joe and sorry Ozzie but at what point do you have to look to Coach Saban and the system at Alabama to see that is the real value in Alabama. How many first round Alabama defenders (outside of Marcell Dareus) are complete busts at the NFL level? There were 2 players in this draft that could have possibly become Raven picks (at #17) that I dreaded. Mosley and Clinton-Dix. Products of the Alabama/Nick Saban system that have produced numerous high pick flops in the last 5 years. Lastly, and believe me, I understand best player available and the big board and all that crap, I really do; but the guy you just picked at #17 in the draft is a freakin clone of the guy that you traded up in the second round last year to pick Arthur Brown. Literally a clone. Two players rarely get so similar. You resigned Daryl Smith. SO WHY??? Why pick Mosley when Cooks was available. Why when Johnny Manziel was still on the board and I'm sure your phones were ringing off the hook with trade offers. Didn't Terence Cody teach us anything? Did Courtney Upshaw? Did Rolando McClain? I'm sorry and I know that a lot of people here will take major offense to this, but could Ozzie Newsome's downfall be his soft spot for Alabama defenders? Despite all the great picks in the past, that seems to be what is going on here. In summary....terrible pick....hate it with the white hot intensity of 1,000 suns. F- for Ozzie and the boys.

Dont Hate the Man for Speaking the Truth, Especially when so many of you are cowards to share the same feelings you know you truly feel. I agree with you Bro 100%. You are Dead on with what you said!!! :ravensquote:

  2. Idk why everyone so mad about this pick? We r so thin for lbs and we need a young lb star to solidify in middle of the field. Our players r getting old. I like haha Dixon but that's just me. I'm glad we got Ozzie and the best drafting team on board to answer the million dollar question. Anyways, i like the pick regardless; we need to shut down the running game.....Jimmy and Webb can secure the backfield.

where do you get we are thin at LB???  we have 11 total LBS , not counting the one we just Drafted, LOL

  3. and with this guys long list of past surgeries and knowing alabama players don't make it in the league why pick this guy with the first pick? why risk it? terrance cody was almost cut borderline bust. courtney upshaw is following down the same path I'm so tired of these alabama players

Why are people acting like the Front Office knows everything and never makes mistakes. Remember Mark Clayton and Kyle Boller. I'm not saying Mosely is a bust. But don't act like Ozzie and Co. Know it all and never mess up. I think Ozzie is Alabama happy, and he loves LBs. A. Brown, I hope you like ST.

Brown is better than Mosely. Putting him on special teams is really stupid. The team is actually worse because of what we did tonight. Ozzie hasn't had a good first round pick since Flacco, depending on what happens with Jimmy Smith which is pretty upsetting.

I have been saying the same things All night Long, Obviosly Some People think Ozzie and the Ravens FO is full of Gods and have no Imperfections when it comes to Drafting, LOL

  4.

Please watch that and tell me how this is a bad pick?

Honestly my dream was Odell Beckham Jr. or Mike Evans but those dreams were squashed pretty quickly and CJ Mosely is no bad consolation. In fact he's too good to be a consolation prize. :)

Look you and all the others need to realize Nobody is Putting Mosley down as a Player, He just isnt what the Ravens Needed right now for a 1st round pick. We have ILB's already, spent money and draft picks for them. We NEEDED a SAFETY or OT/OG .. That what the issue is.

  5. i must admit not only ami i disgusted with this pick by our fo, but with our fans for just acting as if its a good pick or makes any logical sense.. ok. we just re signed smith for fours yrs, and we just draft brown in the second round of last years draft.. now im not against drafting a liner backer in this draft, BUT IN THE FIRST RD? come on guys, this move was illogocal and we all know it. only positions that made logical sense in the first round goes with out saying, o line, wr, fs. simple. who in the world on this forum was even talking about mosley, be honest. and this isnt a knock to that brotha bc hes probably a great talent. but think, where does he fit? ab couldve started last year and did, and was prodcutive, so we know chances are hes starting next to smith this year.. soooooo.. where does that leave leave mosley, special teams? or occcasional 2 or 3 down linebacker until we cut smith.. i love oz like the next, but im not going to let you pee on my leg tell me its rain and accpt it. this was illogical given the talent at positions we needed to fill were on the board .. my guess, a punter or water boy next round

Hitting the Nail on the Head, Couldnt have said it Better!!!

  6. A first round pick, a second round pick and a 4 year contract just to sure up the ILB position. That's alot of investments into a part of the defense, that is losing importance in todays league. If Mosley can be that leader of the defense, then I'll be glad we picked him, but I was already grinding my teeth last year, when we passed over Keenan Allen for Arthur Brown and hoped, that atleast we would've "solved" the ILB position with that pick. I hope it's understandable, that I am a bit upset about the pick. I'm still gonna cheer for everyone wearing that Ravens uniform ofcourse.

    I agree 100%

  7. You know... it's one of those times when everyone knows better than the ones who do it... ;)

Im not saying the Player is a Bad player, I just believe we needed to go for our needs 1st ( We got enough of them) and that ILB could have waited til next year. we drafted 2 ILB last yr, dont forget the whiteboy from Ohio State i believe it was John Simon, he is listed as a OLB but is a versitile LB, and Courtney Upshaw is the other Soon to be Bust OLB from Alabama if something dont happen with him soon

  8. So who you gonna pick, then?  Sure, I'd like to see someone picked in the first round who might bring a little more to the team.  But considering our biggest needs, nobody was there.  You want Manizel?  That would be a true waste.  You want an O lineman?  There weren't any real first round talents left, so may as well wait until the next round.  You want Clinton-Dix?  We already have Elam at free safety, so what are we gonna seriously do with Clinton-Dix?  With Mosley we add a young first round talent behind a veteran first liner.  In all reality, Smith has three years left, max.  He's most going to be unable to keep up by that point, and is likely to be cut the last year of his contract.  Mosley and Brown are our long term solutions.

Do you not realize that Elam is not a FS, but that his natural position is SS... its why we have a need for a FS

  9. Picking an ILB in the middle of the first round is a little rich. Mosley basically needs to play like a Patrick Willis or Luke Kuechly to warrant that selection. Personally, I think Alabama players are more products of the Saban system and turn out to be average in the NFL, but I do hope he proves me wrong now that he is a Raven. Good luck

I absolutely Agree, I hope he works out as well, But the only thing that is gonna help that is being able to Sure up the Back end of our Defense. I have always liked Omar Brown (reminds me of Ed Reed, always around the ball) But if we can snag Derek Ward that would really help, We still need some help on the Offensive side of the ball

  10.

OK, so far it turned out that Ozzie:

    - is too cheap (to trade)

    - is dumb

    - wasted the pick

    - made a pick that doesn't make sense

    etc...

Is Bisciotti a complete moron? Insisting on Ozzie when we got all these guys who know so much better - from their couches?

You do realize that Baltimore has NOT drafted a PRO BOWL Player in the Last 5 Years going on the last 6... So there3 is something to be said about what has happened to the Ravens Drafting process. They do make Mistakes, Dont Keep thinking that Ozzie is Perfect, Take a Look at Terrence Cody, Take a Look at our last OLB from Alabama hell its hard to remember his name, but i can tell ya we traded out of the 1st round and were able to pick him up in the 2nd round 2 years ago, Wanna Guess?? Cuz he is on his way to becoming a Bust too. You really need to stop putting Ozzie up on a Pedestal, cuz he really hasnt done a whole lot lately if you look closely. OK HATERS NEG ME FOR SPEAKING THE TRUTH NOW, LOL

  11. Also people crying about need, look at the teams that draft off need where are they now? Still picking high in the draft not knowing how to follow their board... And remember nothing says we cant trade back into the first and grab an area of need.

To trade back into the 1st round we would be giving up more than we could afford, that isnt gonna happen in a draft filled wit Depth. We cant trade compenstory Picks either

  12. Folks, this is a good FS class-- Ozzie may be in love with Buchanon, or Brooks. Both can be had later

Maybe you are Right, But I still say we could have waited on the ILB, we still have Josh Bynes to back up Smith and Smith.. I hope Ozzie still has the Magic, Cuz we still have needs, @ OL, S, WR, TE, RB, and CB... ILB could have waited i still say

  13. Epic Fail... The Jets just took the Pick we needed. We didnt Need a ILB this year, it could have waited til next Year. We needed Safety help and Clinton Dix and Calvin Pryor were the best out there. Why did we waste a 2nd round pick last year to draft another ILB wit a 1st round Pick this year, I just Dont like it...SMH
