What do the players know? Mike McCoy OC and Rex Ryan DC. The players would have a new motivation. McCoy ran a great offense in Denver. Injuries plagued him in SD. Rex is a motivator. The Ravens need motivation. We looked stale half the time. We were. The last game was a preview of next year.

That is your opinion, and you are rightly entitled to it.  Sorry, I respectfully disagree,   and I'm personally glad you're not in charge of our team.

No not Zuttah alone but a big chunk of it. Injuries played a big part of it. I saw a play Sunday where Zuttah was blocking nobody and Ducasse had one player and he let him go by and sack Flacco. They were both just standing their with nobody around them. Lewis missed games, Stanley missed games and had 2 bad games after he came back. Yanda missed some games and Wagner missed some games. Jensen, Hurst and Urschel don't seem to be the answer. We need to Draft and get a couple good players and hope the Injuries go down next year. Also, a new Offensive Line Coach would be Great!

    Absolutely.

Dallas had the best line and spent 3 first round picks on the line. Brady actually uses hard counts and switches up the tempo of he offense as well. Neither of them habitually allow the play clock to tick down to the final two seconds so the pass rushers can fly off he line.

Both have coordinators that utilized running games, screens and quick throws to get the offense going as well.

And that's my point...  The reason I used the Patriots as an example, was because the first 4 games when Brady wasn't there....  Says more about the organization, the line, and the protection than it does the QB.

Joe does tend to get flustered under pressure but I think as the year went on he got a bit more comfortable (not much though). I totally agree with you about the play calling though, the line did have some issues, but the play calls were so predictable. When we give up on the run no one bites on play action and the lineman can pin their ears back. I read this a few months ago and I dont agree with everything it says but most of it rings true. Trigger Warning - its from the Steelers SB nation site

While that all sounds great....  We had them until the very last play.  So, they deviated, or we did.

The Dolphins game being an outlier. The Eagles game was a good game because we committed to the run for once. The patriots game was a fluke because of two ST turn overs. Flacco drove down the field and scored 0 TDs. We settled for FGs. The offense looked great vs the steelers, but guess what? Two possessions literally started at the 40 while two other started in the red zone because of turnovers. Want to guess how many TDs came from those drives?

We played the Steelers game tough...  and even played the Patriots tougher...  The defense left that game in their lockers too.

Because Joe and Pitta are getting paid big bucks for their 3-5 yard hook ups that help lead us to 8-8😅. Flacco had another frustrating year. I haven't seen this vanilla of a game plan in the entire Harbaugh era.

And here we go....  When for the past 3 years we've been saying that the OC's were way too conservative...  a more aggressive OC starts calling plays and we still hear that it's too "vanilla".   Nobody's ever happy.  The team will never make everyone happy.

Players would be fools to publicly say anything but that they are in love with their coaches. What good would it do to speak out?

In the end, fans are saying that they are tired of seeing lack-luster performances. They are tired of seeing an offense that has underperformed. They are tired of seeing a defense that will play well at times and the collapse when they are needed the most. They want that to change and aren't sure how we're supposed to achieve that by doing the same thing over again.

They could have said many more different things than what they did...  Like, "We let the powers that be make these decisions".

considering how many different offensive and defensive coordinators weve had since Harbaugh took over, its amazing weve done as good as we have. So mamy "fans" are calling for change, well weve had change and it hasn't done us much good.

Hence why throwing the baby out with the bathwater isn't always the answer.  If some fans had their way here they'd have fired Harbaugh, Pees and Morninhweg.  And I have not agreed with the OC AT ALL. or Harbaugh... nor Pees at times..  The numbers have shown a vast improvement since Morninhweg took over.  The numbers are real numbers.  The players like him and want consistency.  6 OC's in 5 years is not what they want....  it's not the answer.  Bringing in somebody else isn't necessarily going to correct the problems.

By retaining his coordinators, Harbs is basically putting the reason for consistent on-field disappointment squarely on Ozzie. Since we all know the owner finds the teams' performance to be unacceptable, he will determine where to make the change - coaching or talent acquisition. He won't accept the status quo. I think he gives Ozzie the vote of confidence over Harbs in that case.

That doesn't mean he's gonna fire Harbaugh before the end of next season though.  I have to say that I agree with Pitta and Joe to a degree.  We haven't had consistency on this team in these positions since the Super Bowl.  Sometimes the only way to improve isn't always to create a revolving door, "until you get the right person in here", as much as it is to train your people to be the right guy.  Sometimes that takes time and work.  If these guys work that well with this coordinator, and don't want another change, I'd say let's see what that does before we go throwing people under the bus.   If some members here had their way, they'd completely clean house.

We had 7 different Offensive line configurations in 5 games due to injuries. Guys moved all over the place to fill in. Once Stanley came back the left side was fine.  Lewis never did make it back.  Zuttah had more penalties than anyone on the line also. And sacks allowed up the middle??? Those are missed blocks by the Center or RB. I'm just saying... Watch a Dallas game. Prescott has ALL DAY LONG. Br*dy does as well. Look at teams with good O-Lines, and you'll see better performance out of the running and passing game.

    HARBS JUST SAID EXACTLY THIS........

I didn't see touchdowns I saw checkdowns, Pass to run ratio was horribly one sided, even after OC change. Offensive line was banged up but I didn't see consistency from week to week as that line jelled. Which to me equals another OC.

So, let's go back to TIME..  It takes time for plays to develop downfield.  TIME which Joe very rarely had.  THAT is why you saw checkdowns.  Because he was consistently being rushed, especially up the middle (which means missed blocks by the Center or RB), and on the right side.  Even the Cincinnati announcers were noting how our receivers didn't have time to get open, and that Joe was rushed.  When the media of the opposing team is saying these things...  you know you have a problem somehwere...  and it isn't always at OC.  7 different OLine configurations in 5 games.  I just finished posting this on another thread..  Once Stanley came back, Yanda moved to LG, it was better.  Lewis never made it back, and the right side was weak at best, always substituting.  Watch a Dallas game and look at the time that Prescott has to make his plays....  Clean pocket almost every play.  THAT is a good O-Line.

Agreed also... everybody is quick to throw the QB and the OC under the bus, on every team. Go check out some of the other boards. Guys and Gals I see on here that are comparing others to ours aren't really seeing that even coordinators that are being mentioned as potential here are in the very same boat. It's really sad that people cannot see beyond that. Joe's lack of protection, and the ability to get time for the plays to develop is HUGE...

If the OL is the problem then what changes would be made? Stanley stays, Lewis stays, Yanda stays, Wagner could stay. Is Zuttah really the one to blame for all of Joe's issues? I read somewhere he actually graded out pretty well the second half if the season.

  13. Man how I wish Kubiak would come back to us... Still I think Flaccos inconsistent play was also a result of many lineman getting hurt and he getting hit and sacked too much. Sure we had problems from the get go but I don't think you can blame it all on the OC.

State of the Ravens press conference ought to be fun. Can't wait for the plethora of cliche excuses and slogans. "We are close to being a really good team", "Only need couple of tweeks", "We'll be back better in 2017". What a load of hogwash it's gonna probably be. This is why I'm slowly starting to lose respect for Harbaugh. I would respect an honest, straight to the point HC way more.

I wish John would just say: "Hey, here's the deal. Offensive playcalling was garbage the entire season, defense failed miserably in December and needs to start receiving some serious value from its young players, especially pass rushers, and our most expensive "franchise" player performed far below average considering his salary, experience and pieces he had around him. Wouldn't hurt to have some WRs getting open once in a while and DBs who don't fall on their fat slow arses covering slant routes. These are our issues and we'll focus on them this offseason.".

I understand it might seem as if throwing someone under the bus and might rub some people the wrong way, but Harbaugh has been covering up the shortcomings of many of our players and staff members for many years now and it has not led to better results. This approach is obviously not working. By pinpointing the issues with straight forward attitude, Harbs would at least create some belief that we actually might fix these problems and maybe, just maybe deliver the message to his team as well. Instead, we're probably gonna be hearing a lot of big empty words for 9 months now, and hope everything will get better by doing the exact same things we've been doing for 5 years. That's the definition of insanity, I think.

The only person Harbs needs to answer to is Steve Biscotti. No one else. So I don't expect him to dis anyone publicly, except if he's honest maybe himself for not having players fully motivated and losing to many close games that we could have won. Publicly blaming players and assistant coaches for the teams shortcomings would not only be unprofessional, but come across as cheap and petty. Which despite some other flaws, Harbs is not. Now, behind closed doors, I think the Ravens fully realize that there needs to be some accountability and more than a few underachiving players and staff are going to be looking for new homes. But don't expect public shaming for the fan's benefit.

    agree 100%

Drastically really?? The same secondary that gets fried against good qb's and the average ones? The point that i was making was OC has been changed in fact because Trestman was fired and the interim Marty didn't do that well either keep the job. I Prefer Tuesday Morning GM BTW.

    The numbers are real...

Mornhinweg was promoted from quarterbacks coach in Week 6 after a deflating 16-10 home loss to the Washington Redskins. In his 11 games calling plays, the Ravens averaged 22.6 points per game. That would rank 18th in the NFL.

Baltimore’s offense got better as the year went on. It moved the ball with more efficiency over the four-game span from Week 13 to Week 16. The Ravens averaged 28.8 points over that period and Flacco turned in some of his best games.

The Ravens threw their way to a 38-point outburst against the Miami Dolphins and had strong showings in New England, versus the Philadelphia Eagles and in Pittsburgh.

    Just sayin!
