where is the draft grades blog? not that i need it because I never expected us to pick him based on what i saw..I thought we wanted playmakers on both sides of the ball and as a corner he isn't a playmaker. he's a hard hitter thats great at destroying screens. He isn't this fluid, instinctive shadowing corner that you would pick in the top half of the first round. He's a SS.

Oh, and there's video of Humphrey there too...  You could check those out too while you're there.  They're pretty informative.

sure, which in genius with the seriously in-depth report posted that? Hate cookie cutter stuff like this.

Of course you do....  Because it was a professional that posted it.  You might want to check out the Draft Grades blog; and take your pick at any of the grades.

I'm mentally prepared for the rest of the draft now:

After each Ravens pick i'm gonna say i love this pick!

Folks just need to be realistic.  This isn't Fantasy.

There'd be moaning no matter who the Front Office picked.  It wouldn't have mattered.

Last year I lauded the stanley pick because he was a polished player with a high floor and potentially all pro ceiling.

I don't like this notion that you can't state how you feel about a player. No one here had humphreys as a desirable pick and most had him outside the top 4 corners.

Baltimore Ravens: Marlon Humphrey, CB, Alabama

Grade: A-. Humprey bolsters the Ravens' new-look secondary in an exciting way. Cornerback was a position of need and he is a scheme fit as well. An outside linebacker might have been the better play here, but Baltimore did well.

I liked the tavon pick. I said he'd be a great slot corner (can see it in my post draft review from last year). One of my 3 fav picks along with dixon and stanely. I have a good eye for talent and a good eye for busts

this one is on the busts side.

    Of course it is......

i dont have issue with BPA..need or not

my point is that there is No chance in hell humphreys is better than OJ howard and he isn't as good of a corner as T.White, Conely, S.Jones, Moreu or even K.King!

We don't need a TE.   We already have 6, and Woodhead.  For the past two years we have had secondary issues.  These arguments are nutz.  I'm outta here.  This is just sad.

remember when NO ONE wanted Perriman before the draft?

No one wanted Humphreys as a corner. Most of us didnt want corners but the ones we wanted never involved humphreys for the reasons all described. Now as usual, we are not seeing things straight and imagining some lockdown corner and in truth, he's just another big athletic hitter.

    NOPE...  I called Perriman.

I also believe this guy is a Raven style player.  Could be one of the better corners in the league.  I mean whoda thought that Tavon Young was going to come out and play like he did last season...  I'm sorry...  what round was he picked again?????

I would've bet money he was going to be our pick, even with the logjam at the position.

Would love to get a rusher, but wouldn't be surprised if we go OL or ILB in the 2nd.  Also, dont think Dalton has the arm to utilize Ross fully.  People are going to say we did that cause of Ross but truth is, we needed another young guy and Bryant is coming back as well.  I'm truly exciting to see this defense this season.  We finally have the press man personnel everyone's been waiting for.  I expect a top 5 sack total if we can actually stay healthy.

I actually believe that even if Ozzie picked "The Guy"...  we'd still see some folks moaning that we didn't go defensive back...  Last night was a very "different" round 1 in this draft.  People who went that weren't expected were all over the place.  Folks need to chill

i mean, i was really high on him too. But he lasted quite a long while.... lots of teams passed, ones that could have really used a dual threat TE like that. So it looks like the league wasnt quite as high on him as we all were.

    Yup...  exactly.

We need a pass catcher period. Oj Howard would be hands down the most dynamic guy flacco has ever played with and it's not even close. Not to mention he is an elite run blocker, the guys basically an extra OT out there, he would without question be the best skill position player on our offense and coaches would never find a reason to take him off the field, and he was a top 5 talent who fell due to his position, Humphrey is widely regarded as a 20s ranked guy. Plus, Pitta Waller and Watson could all very well be gone next year and probably should be gone already.

i don't care about needs when you have a squeaky clean generational talent 10 spots after he should've been picked.

And the pass catcher may come in the 2nd or 3rd round.  You guys are acting like this was the determining factor of the entire draft. Was it a "sexy pick"?  Maybe not...  But it's crazy.

He makes Joe better. He makes the run game better and he makes the defense better by limiting their time on the field.

He was the best player there when we picked, ( to me of course ), and it isn't close.

He is probably the best player the Ravens have had a chance to pick in the past ten years

I respectfully disagree with you guys on this one.

really? i havent seen anything about him injury wise or character wise - its been widely reported that he's a stand up guy whos grounded by his family...

They were discussing it last night.  Maybe he's been OK recently...  but there were clear reasons why they were overlooked by the Ravens...  2 of those guys had shoulder issues...  One had arthritis in BOTH shoulders due to Labrum issues.  The other had dislocation in one of his....  The third had character issues....  and as far as O.J....  We don't need another TE.

    That's foster lol.

Oj howard was clean as a whistle unless there is something that slipped through the cracks

We have 6 TE's...  Boyle, Pitta, Gilmore, Waller, Williams, and Watson..... and now Woodhead in the backfield.  It wasn't a need....

  14. I think a lot of people are also upset that we picked a CB in a deep class of corners.... while you had OJ Howard the best TE in the draft sitting there. This team historically not helped Joe Flacco with perennial offensive playmakers as much as they should've. I wasn't excepting them to trade up for receivers but when a big TE falls in your lap, it makes sense to take him.

Then what makes it worse is when Harbaugh starts gushing about the special teams ability of Humphrey. A 16th overall pick for a special teamer? Yeah. I get why fans are upset. Let's not demean them for feeling that way.

We have 6 TE's. Pitta, Gilmore, Waller, Williams, Watson, and Boyle.

Lol just heard Chris Simms say the most disappointing part of the draft " Baltimore Ravens drafting Marlon Humphrey at 16" stated that he is not a corner in the NFL, possibly a FS but didn't even have him valued as a first round pick.

Obviously one mans opinion , though.

Chris Simms????  Really???  I do not value his opinion on draft picks.  Sorry.

  16. So many people on here have complained about Jimmy Smith and Webby staying healthy. YES, there were a couple of other guys that some may say ranked higher on the BPA scale. I'm not so sure, personally. The other two guys that I would have thought, both have health issues or character issues.

We have seen in the past couple of years where our secondary has gotten decimated, specifically the corners. This guy is an awesome player.

    I'm not disappointed AT ALL!

WELCOME TO BALTIMORE MARLON.... TIME TO BUCKLE IT UP DUDE!
