No offense to you but I remember Anquan saying he would retire if he couldn't return to Baltimore. I don't buy anything these athletes say anymore. I'd love him back though but it would need to be on the cheap.
No offense taken...I have said that numerous times too.... But, I think he is a different guy... The party bus incident was a one time deal with the not so great influence of Bryant McKinnie...
He LOVES Bmore.... I don't know... this is a tough call. If anyone is willing to take the cut... it would be him.
Came down to a Defensive stop on 4th down.... sound familiar????
2012 they were 7th in yards, 1st in TDs. 2011 20th in yards, 3rd in TDs, . 2010 they were 9th in yards, 2nd in TDs. 2009 12th in yards, 6th in TDs. 2008 they were 6th in yards and 4th in TDs. Even in 2007, the offensive explosion year with the passing TD record and receiving TD record, they were still rankd 13th in yards and 5th in TDs. Of course the Patriots can run, they have a fantastic OL. They haven't had a real star back in a while admittedly, but they're smart enough to realize you don't need to waste money on one, unlike us. Their YPC has been on par with everyone else, and they often beat us since our offense was about volume more than efficiency. The run game does exactly what they want it to do, it's effective and helps them score points. As a said, Belichick likes running the ball, especially in the red zone. You're playing into the narrative created by the media, just like the Flacco haters and the people who say Tony Romo sucks. Running games make passing games and quarterbacks effective, and that's part of the reason Flacco has looked inconsistent at times this season.
Just for comparison, our numbers in 2012 were 11th in yards, 6th in TDs. 2011 10th in yards, 10th in TDs. 2010 14th in yards, 18th in TDs. 2009 5th in yards, 1st in TDs (this was the one year we had a great OL and had an efficient run game and great YPC). 2008 4th in yards, 5th in TDs. 2007 16th in yards, 18th in TDs.
You love to argue with me... I Love Flacco. I Love Pitta. My main point is that some people do nothing but quote stats and are relying way too much on Stats. Period. You can quote stats all day long. I'll take the wins and losses all day long.... Let it go man... Time for me to move on.
As it stands, the Patriots definitely have the better rushing attack and are usually right there with us.
I do agree that Pitta isn't asked to be the super star and he dies quite well as a reliable third down option, which is what the Ravens need the most.
... and as I had said previously... "traditionally". I know we haven't had even a good year with our running game. But traditionally, the Patriots don't usually have near the same running game. They have always relied on their QB's arm. In PREVIOUS YEARS.... they haven't had much of a running game at all. I think Pitta being out for most of the season has really hurt us...and it was a huge shock when it did happen.
When did we get a running game? I mean you're completely wrong about those teams running 5 wide and not having a running game as well, just our acquisition of one was something I must've missed.
So you're gonna tell me that Brady has a running game.... really? I would really disagree with you on that. AND, to say that I am completely wrong is, if nothing else, disrespectful, considering I do know what I am talking about. WE did HAVE a running game... This past season has been an anomaly. When you're giving Rice 25 - 30 carries a game like we have in ALL previous year, I would say that's the case. You tell me when Brady has handed off to a RB 25 - 30 times a game...
I'm honestly a little torn on the stats. Yes, he is clearly the favorite target, but he has not yet shown to be an elite pass catcher like a Graham or Gronk.
I don't think he NEEDS to be a Graham or a Gronk... Pitta proved himself last weekend; first game back and in some of the nastiest conditions. He's the only TE on the roster with a good set of hands We have more of a running game than either one of those teams. Stats are stats... and that's it. Remember... Those guys are a couple of the Pass happy QB's who have no running game and 5 WR/TE targets on the field every play... Just sayin...
Dickson?
I saw this on PFT tonight too... SMH. Poor Guy!

I watch Webby back in our secondary every week. He seems to get better every game. Our secondary is set up to stop guys like Jacoby... I think it's great they get to practice against these guys... Torrey, Marlon, and Jacoby. Jimmy has stepped it up, he's not getting smoked as much... Mattie Elam is gonna be a beast... Corey Graham, I loved him last year. He has been the biggest disappointment of them all this year.... That was until this past week... He redeemed himself.
Coby keeps making these big plays and I don't think he'll go anywhere.... just sayin.
Wade Phillips replies:
Ed being Ed doesn't sit well with Houstonians.
Ed being Ed didn't sit well with the Ravens front office either... Just sayin. We all know that.
Sometimes you just don't know when... Your head has to tell you when... The body says no, but his mind still wants it. It is kinda sad when you think about it. It would have been so sweet for him to go out with Ray... They both would have been eligible for the HOF together, and it would have been nice to see them both go into the Ring of Honor together....
Lot's of what ifs... but I don't think Ed really appreciated how much Baltimore Loved Him.
Ha! yeah it is the sig with all of the different Reed pics. And, I had to do this for old times sake...
Come home Ed! Come home!

Gives me goosebumps Mili!
Ed Reed is no Ed Reed
I don't believe that there is anyone on this thread that believes Ed Reed should come back as a player... But I wouldn't release a player for Ed Reed at this point... an honorary coach or assistant seems to be the concensus. Baltimore still loves Ed Reed... Regardless. My point was... You just cannot compare Michael Huff to Ed Reed when it comes to Baltimore.
Reed will most likely retire after this season.
We'll probably sign him on that one day contract so he can retire as a Raven.
For now, I doubt we're interested in signing a broken and unmotivated aged player who is way past his prime.
Come on, we even cut Michael Huff. I doubt we sign Reed when he can't even beat the 3rd stringers in Houston.
I agree.... Exccept... Michael Huff is no Ed Reed.
Couldn't have said it better Berad!
Our secondary is good. It's actually one of the best parts of our Defense/Team at this point. As a coach, assistant, or coordinator maybe. Or simply just to retire a Raven.

You are absolutely correct. I think too, that we aren't the only team doing it. Since the CBA and the new cap rules, it makes things so much harder to manage where the players are concerned. You hear more and more of it.
