This changes a lot imo. We now have a guy who knows how to use Juice. We are probably getting Winston to be a RT. Monroe is defiantly coming back. Pitta is still a toss up but I think we retain him. Still think we can't afford Jacoby.
So we got (as weapons)
Juice
Torrey
Brown
Pitta
Meaning We will probably do something along the lines of this
WR TE - LT-LG-C-RG-RT WR
QB
H-Back(Juice. Lines up as a blocker, slot WR, etc etc)
RB
Looks good except that they liked the 2 TE set..... Furstenburg comes in there somewhere.. or we draft.. and Dickson goes..
I think Jacoby returning (or not) will come down to... you guessed it, money.
I agree... otherwise, I think it's a no-brainer.
They'll tag someone to keep someone and get more cap space... One may not be happy about it, but they will do that.
lol and whats that speculation?
the whole speculation that they didn't get along??? and it was just that... speculation. No one knew what their relationship was like.
Harbaugh said both Vonta Leach and Jacoby Jones recommended the hiring of Gary Kubiak.
^ This should put some speculation to rest...
I honestly believe that they will work to keep at least Jacoby... I will maintain that they will do what they can to keep him. He's been a great return guy and a decent receiver.
I think the FO has made it clear that they're committed to Torrey and Marlon as starters. I don't see any way we don't come out of the draft without a receiver in at least the first 2 rounds. That would make Jacoby 4th.
It's not about having Jacoby or not having Jacoby. The question becomes whether the cost is worth it to keep him around while we have many other holes. I don't see anyway that it's worth it. I love the guy, but his time here in Baltimore is probably done.
... and that would be sad.
The topics have been merged with the other thread... Conversation was becoming redundant and folks posting the same thing over and over. Didn't see a need for both threads to be active at this time. Thanks
Folks... Is it possible to take the OC conversation over to the other thread... "Ravens hire Gary Kubiak as OC"... We are getting redundant here.
It's official: Ravens have re-hired Cam Cameron as offensive coordinator...lol!!
Ya know.... ![]()
I said it before, way back on like page five or so, that hiring Kubiak would be great for Juice and even Pitta. After Leach left, Houston used a FB/TE player in both roles. I forget his name but he played at FB, TE, and in the slot at times.
Kubiak is the guy that will make Juice's career. Love this move
Leach played in Texas
Kubiak bringing any offensive linemen with him? Heard of "Dream Team" maybe there build a "dream coaching" staff? And here we are worried. Now don't we all look funny.
I never doubted that the Ravens organization would NOT allow another season like the one we just had.... Never a doubt in my mind.... and we aren't done yet.... Keep it Goin' Ravens... Keep it Goin!!!
I was thinking that's what they were waiting for... was to see if they could get both lined up to work together again.
My guess is we get them both... Kubiak and Shanahan....
Texans fans do not like Kubiak at all. Many of them are warning Ravens fans.
Texans fans didn't like Jacoby either.... but Baltimore does.
The announcement is at 3pm. Do you think Harbaugh pulled off the "Dream Team" of offensive Coordinators??
I sure as heck hope so.!!!!!
Just win baby ,Just win! :0)
Absolutely Cru!
There will be offensive coaching changes where they are needed, I am sure of that. I just don't see this organization allowing another season like the one we had this year without or by not putting the right pieces in the right places.... Excitement is just around the corner..... Again!.
With all these coaches running around whats John going to do? get donuts?
Be nice. Every other team has these guys in coaching positions on their teams... Why would we be any different?
Okay, it's time to announce a press conference. We were promised an OC today so let's get on with it. Time to release that puff of white smoke at the castle so we fans know who we can beat up on next year, I mean, loyally support.
3 pm fusuymada
But all of those guys are already free agents. We don't gain anything by not re-signing them. Even with cuts, you still presumably have 4 guys ahead of Jacoby that we'd like to re-sign, and still a plethora of other holes. I just can't see us paying that much for a 4th receiver. We already have a quality option in Deonte. He's obviously not as dynamic as Jacoby, but it then becomes a question of cost/production. Can Deonte give us 75% of what Jacoby offers for 20% of the cost? I'd assume that answer is yes, and even if it's less than 75%, the value there is better than paying Jacoby a couple million to be a rotational guy.
That's an opinion that I don't necessarily agree with... Jacoby is proven... some of the others not so much... and to let some of the older guys go is actually a good thing for this teams future.... Jacoby is not our 4th receiver. He is potentially #2... With Torrey and Marlon out there????? I just see it a little differently than you do, I guess. Give me the guys who are clutch... Anyday... not the guys "who might be". I think that's what we did this year... I don't see this happening again. Not anytime soon.
See my post at the top of this page. Is paying Jacoby to be a 4th receiver really in our best interest? We have other holes to fill that would be a better allocation of the cap. I don't think we can afford to pay him at expense of some other positions, most notably the OL.
There are ways to open cap space... We do need offensive line people, most definitely... but there are other member of the roster that can go that are not as necessary... I see Dickson going... Possibly Doss... Oher... as well as a few others. We need the offensive players for sure....
Wasn't Shanahan Kubiak's OC in Houston for a couple of years? His addition to the staff makes perfect sense to me, and should Kubiak get a look at HC next year, Shanahan can be the heir-apparent, no?
He was Ferrari... from 2006 through 2010
Ozzie and Bisciotti are involved and should be involved. My issue is when it's 'reported' as Harbaugh being totally excluded from the discussion, as if he's cancerous or inept. That's ridiculous.
Harbaugh, Ozzie, and Steve have always said they are in deep talks with each other and always asking for input. When they met in Bisciotti's home in Florida, I doubt they just handed Harbaugh a coloring book - that's what Preston would like you to believe.
I think Preston harbors some sort of vendetta against Harbaugh. Likely because Harbaugh calls him out of the stuff he fabricates or what he pushes. Most notably his 'Ray Lewis and Ed Reed should be benched' column.
Agreed Berad...
Mike Preston has always been one that does that very well...FOR YEARS, even before Harbaugh.... He did it with Billick too. ![]()
I know it's hard sometimes, but this is not a "Complain about Flacco" thread... this is about whether you believe that Jacoby will be back...
Play nice boys and girls.

Sometimes; You are absolutely right... if it were that tight, then we can expect another cap casualty team like last year, but I'm not so sure... there are other contributing factors that come into play.
