I know the message boards are closing, but I never thought to ask - will a member be able to send a message to another member or is that also going away? If that is going away too, I am going to be really sad!!!!!!!!
just checked. Some personal profile "features" will still be available.

Will the mods be swinging the ban hammer tomorrow?
NOPE...

LOL...
There are so many people on here that I enjoyed talking to. Some PM'D me and kept in touch on so many different levels. I will miss that for sure. I loved the game thread. Loved being there every week. That was the best part of the message boards for me. Otherwise I sort of stayed in the blogs.
If I warned you unfairly, I apologize. I just tried to be the best Mod that I could be. I hope to see most of you in the blogs. That's where I will come for my Ravens news....
Good Luck to everyone out there. Behave yourselves, and don't do anything that would get you fined or suspended. REMEMBER..
No Trolling
No Personal Attacks on Members or Moderators
No Profanity
No Gifs, or Videos....
Love to everyone here.... and GO RAVENS!

I'm not sure... Funny thing is that I'm not the master of that. There are others that are much better at that than I am.

That's funny...... Which one... He's had several.

Hey Cobra.... Gonna miss you the most. ;) I'll be hanging out on the blogs still. I'll still be coming here to get my Ravens news. And commenting will still be allowed there. I'll see you there.
6 minutes ago, The Raven said:@berad thanks for the shout out. Wishing you the best. Thanks for your tolerance. You're a good dude.
Going off of that, I want to give a final, and sincere, apology and thank you, to the mods, particularly Berad, @Moderator 3, and @The Mom Gene. Y'all are good people.
Thank you so much @The Raven We will miss folks also.
2 hours ago, sizzlingdoom said:So are these the forums that are closing??? Are we not going to be able to comment and respond to each other's comments?? That would be incredibly lame. I'm completely done with Baltimoreravens.com if that's the case
No, this isn't changing. You will still be able to comment in the blogs. The stories that are published for the Ravens will still have comments.

Just because someone made the decision through official channels doesn't mean it was the right one or that people are being stubborn for disagreeing as you implied in your next post. Do you also feel that strongly that the Chicago Tribune made the right decision when it canned all its news photographers?
Saying the site will be sticking around is a copout. The news threads are about what you'd expect from an internet comments section (which is hardly surprising since it is an internet comments section) - they're a step up from Facebook but only a small one.
I do, because they obviously know more than we do.
I know there's been lots of talk about Boldin returning. I want to hear opinions on Victor Cruz coming in on a cheap contract with incentives to make more. He's only 30 years old.
Sources close to the Giants organization almost all say Cruz has nothing left in the tank, and is no longer anything like he was in his better days.
His case is similar to Dwayne Bowe's, formery of the Chiefs: a permanent fixture for years, productive, reliable - but his body has broken down and his athelticism has gone. It may be worth bringing him in for a look... but I don't think it's wise to expect anything. His NFL career may very well be over.
When you have two guys like Wallace and Perriman, you don't necessarily need a Cruz. You need a slot guy. A strong down the middle receiver. I just think that's Joe's Pitta connection. You don't see him hit many other guys in the middle. Aiken did some of that, but even he was unreliable. How many times did he get hit in the numbers and drop the ball? He'd still be here if he had been a more reliable connection.
TJ really seems like a great kid. Happy he had this experience at the draft. The Ravens should get Marlon to sign his draft card too. If he becomes a star that would be an amazing piece of history to have.
He actually met Marlon at the Hotel after the draft. I'm sure he did something for TJ. What an awesome story. So happy for him.

Thanks... Yes, there are some here that believe their opinions are always the right one. No other opinion is acceptable.

And while most don't post two or more lengthy paragraphs, I would venture a guess that most "average" members do read them when they are worth reading. That type of info exchange ain't happening on the popular social media outlets.
I am and always will be a die hard fan of the Ravens football team, but I have to say I've lost a lot of respect for this organization to make such a short sighted decision in shutting down the BR.com message boards.
I'm not sure it was short-sighted. I truly believe there was a lot of discussion and a lot of thought put into it. And as was stated, most other teams have done, or are doing the same. Change is always a difficult measure for most folks.
My family and myself are all in, we are gonna be heartbroken forever for the Heap family. Plus, showing a little bit of kindness to others along the way in your life can never hurt 💜
Absolutely

Which got to be very difficult lately.
13 minutes ago, -Truth- said:It is a mistaken notion to automatically presume that the judgment behind the decision is sound simply because the decision was made. It essentially implies that there are no miscalculated decisions, which is obviously far from the truth. The most likely explanation behind the shutdown is that it’s a cost-cutting measure that can now be written off under the guise of an expected natural progression of migrating conversations to the more current and popular social media platforms, i.e. Facebook and Twitter, an unspoken declaration of forums being an outdated means of discussions. If this is the expectation, then we have been woefully misread as a demographic. As a long-standing member on this forum, I can personally attest to the fact that I have zero interest in migrating my sports conversations to the wholly unmoderated platforms that are the physical manifestation of thousands of people standing in a single room and talking at the same time. I certainly can’t speak for everyone, but I would assume that this would be less than ideal for a sizable portion of other seasoned members.
I’m on multiple social media sites, have been and will be. From personal experience, I can tell you that the vast majority of the football discussions that occur in the comments are a barren wasteland of misinformation, uninformed opinions, and arguments which turn into poo-flinging contest and personal insults that immediately stream away from the main topics of discussion. This is mostly because a great deal of sports fans are relatively casual observers, thus the bar set for general insight is significantly lower. Couple that with the lack of repercussions for trolling or steering off-course, and in reality, the aforementioned result no longer comes as a surprise. And ironically enough, although we do debate on other platforms under our real names and profiles, the fact that we are unlikely to see the same faces in other discussions considering the infinitely-deeper pool of participants makes the ordeal less personal in comparison. The entire reason of most members joining forums is because they have a vested interest in the details of the sport that is generally greater than that of a casual observer. It has a sense of community where there are long-term residents, so you can choose whom you gravitate towards and whom you gravitate away from. And there are rules for everyone to abide by that ensure that the overall sense of integrity is protected, that this remains a place for intelligent discussions. That doesn’t mean that you won’t see head-scratching concepts or ill-informed ideas tossed around. But it’s still a far more ideal experience than that of the other platforms. These are the points being missed in the migration. Instead, it's treated that if we like X, we must like Y. What’s being lost on whomever is pulling the plug is that most members will either cease to hold their discussions on the internet, migrate to another forum, or go through a progression from the first to the second. It is of no surprise that other forums were immediately explored once the news broke. And I personally hope to see the familiar faces there.
too long for the average member to want to read. That said. If you're not sure of the reasoning or believe what the have said is the reasoning, as it doesn't fit your ideas, then you really cannot discount their reasoning.

I don't know where you believe that Baltimore tried to get Burfict... or Adam "pacman" Jones..... Cannot find anything on it that documents that for either player. They've known that both of those players are dirty and have known it for years. The only place I have EVER seen discussion about either of them is in here..... or on Russell Street Report in their discussion boards. Never once saw it reported by this organization that they wanted either of these guys.

Not by the fans. He's the dirtiest player in Football right now. Burfict, Jones, and now Mixon.... rah rah.

We can agree to disagree on that. If there were no good reason, then they wouldn't be shutting it down.
I will agree that it was a great place to bring Ravens fans together. The site isn't going away. Just the forums are.
