yeah but they havent won the big one cause the other areas on their team where horrible because they had to pay the guys they where throwing to lol.
its a catch 22 or how they call it.
would you give up the ravens SB win for flacco to have amazing stats?
Not in a million years. I've Always been ok with his stats...they are good enough to win, so they are good. That's what matters.
I've said in the past ad nauseum on here that I would take Flacco's 3700-3900 yards 20-25 td's and 10-15 interceptions to go with a playoff win or two and a chance to be playing for the Super Bowl
VS A guy like Stafford who puts up gaudy stats every year, but hasn't even sniffed that Super Bowl birth.
I guess my sentiment was that people under estimate Flacco a lot because his stats aren't insane. It is just my opinion that if he had started with a team who was more dedicated to offense, and had some STAR receivers with a good OC..I used San Diego and Houston as examples..he IMO would have had those Fantasy Football stats.
That said, I'm glad he's our Quarterback and I wouldn't trade Joe for anybody. He's our guy and he's pretty damn good.
Yeah I'm really big into the 70's stuff too..and metallica..top 3 favorite of mine.Ibanez accoustic, I got it on the cheap for like $200. It's okay.. Other than that I havev an LTD Stratocaster. Works like a charm, and is reliable.
The Blackstar was worth every penny. And I needed an amp on the fly so it does that perfectly.
Love me some metallica but I'm a 70s rock junkie to say the least. Favorite player has to be Brian May. And replicating his tone is the hardest damn thing in the world.
I was actually thinking a Martin GS Mini... Not too pricey and very compact.
I've heard a lot of good stuff about those Blackstar amps I guess some designers from Marshall defected and made that company.
Brian May is also one of my favorites, and you're right..his tone was amazing.
KDog-Couldn't agree more about the Mesa's I have a Mesa Triple Rectifier..it's a beast, but unfortunately I can't even use it because it's too loud! Lol.
I've been getting into acquiring guitars in the cheap, and making them into something cool.
My last project, I took a Squire Stratocaster that I bought for 70.00 at guitar center, upgraded the nut, locking tuners, installed some Duncan pickups, and re-finished it, then set it up..then for the fun of it, I replaced the Squire logos with some Fender logos on the headstock.
I'd never sell it as a Fender because if you held it, you can tell just by how light it is that it's a Squire, but it plays and sounds just as good if not better than some.
I've also done a few Les Paul renovations too...gives me something to tinker with now that I don't have band practices and shows 6 out of 7 nights a week lol.
I'll also say this, Ben set the bar for the type of Quarterback you need to win this division. Don't like him much, but he's earned my respect that's for sure. Her certainly can take some hits thats for sure. Manning would of been long retired lol. He has barely been touched in his career and looks terrible after his neck injury.
seems legit i guess
based on what?
ive seen joe play like montana and i have seen him play like ryan leaf.
he has made great throws and he has made some really stupid throws.
there is really no way anyone can guess which joe would show up somewhere else under other circumstances.
sure if we cherry pick a few games we can imagine how great he could be but we could flip the coin and cherry pick a few games and wonder what on earth was he doing.
he is a top 10 QB thats for sure and the best QB the ravens had.
he has been in a great situation here where he could start his career by relying on a defense and a run game that made him grow in the QB he is now.
he was not this good since day 1.
there is really no telling if he was on another team in a different situation on how his career would progress.
matt ryan and phillip rivers are really good QBs who can make any throw that's needed.
i really think you are under estimating how good they are though.
there isn't much difference between them and flacco.
I see what you are saying, and I do agree to an extent.
But you mention Ryan and Rivers, honestly I think the difference between those two and him has been who he's throwing to.
That's just my opinion.
I'm pretty sure as a young kid the Packers were my team before the Ravens got here. I just loves how Favre played. Rogers isn't too shabby either. .
No question we have more than ZERO takeaways in the last five games.
Did anyone notice Vick throw that SAME screen play in the Steelers game like twice..the same one Suggs has intercepted like 5 times...that's how good he is though.
When Suggs went down. I just had a feeling that it was going to be one of those years. Usually things like that snowball, and it has.
Glad you remember that thread. It was glorious.
A truly elite QB elevates the receivers and makes them better. Don't you remember a couple years ago when Brady had nobody to throw the ball to for a while, and....oh, wait...
Btw, how's Torrey or Anquan doing these days?
Exactly...also for that matter the "chosen one" Kapernick who was supposed to ascend into the heavens on a Unicorn as the next almighty God of Football. .didn't he just get benched? Lol.
The Organization has done Flacco no favors.
Who's Breshard Perriman?
Yup, our WR depth chart looks like this right now
Kamar Aiken
Chris Givens
Jeremy Ross
Marlon Brando.. I mean Brown
Some dude they just that played 2 snaps with the Saints like a few years ago....
We're DEFINITELY making the playoffs..lmao
doubt it.
45 games where he had 35 pass attempts or more he has only won 19 games.
24 games where he had 40 pass attempts or more he has only won 7 games.
16 games where he had 45 pass attempts or more he has only won 6 games.
10 games where he had 50 pass attempts or more he has only won 3 games
he is actually at his best in a balanced offense.
also we all know divisional games are different then regular games.
no guaranteed that if we played in a weaker division we would do better.
its not like we steamroll the jags and texans everytime we play them lol
You have to take into account his receivers, and also the offense it's self.
The Ravens under Cam Cameron were running an offense that didn't match the personell of the team, and had little imagination and creativity.
Also, his best receivers from 2008-Now have been Derrick Mason who was at the end of the rope, A SEVERELY under performing Anquan Boldin, and Torrey Smith who was effectively a one trick pony. His TE situation hasn't been all that stable either.
All I'm saying is if Joe was on the Chargers under Norv Turner I have no doubts that he could have been better than Phillip Rivers' stats.
Heck swap Schaub and Flacco under Kubiak in Houston..Joe would have had insane numbers with Johnson and Daniels.
Not so sure either of those QB's would have won a Super Bowl coming from our division, with mostly bargain bin receivers, and an almost obsolete offensive system.
The current era of NFL fans fetishize statistics. That's why the average fan who doesn't watch Flacco play will say he's average or mediocre or a game manager..or whatever fad word for it they have at the time.
Yet anyone who actually knows what their eyes are really seeing when they watch a game will tell you take Flacco could have those monster stats if he played in a joke division and was in a pass first offense.
I can never agree with the ethics of "Tanking" we are 2-6 right now. If we .500 the rest of the way, that's 6-10..still a high pick.
Honestly, we all knew he wasn't coming back. So sad, he was turning into one hell of a TE.
Sounds like you have comparable tastes...
What other guitars/amps do you have?
I love that pentatonic stuff, probably my favorite player is David Gilmour...he's one of the great pentatonic lick guys
As far as style goes, I've done everything from metallica-esque thrash to some heavy alternative stuff..to playing in a variety band that literally had over 300 songs in the Arsenal lol.
As far as affordable acousticso go..I have a Seagull that I paid around 400 for..love it.
Also, How do you like that Blackstar HT?
Sadly, I know this. They will let him walk and sign two bargain bin players who had a 20 Homer season like 5 years ago.Better start researching who your new team will be, because we aren't re-signing him! Angelos is too cheap!
They just haven't grasped the concept that you can't make chicken salad out of chicken (you know what)
And hes only gotten better and better at throwing the ball!
If Roethlisberger waso trim like most QB's, he would be done by now considering the beating he takes.
Any fellow Guitar/Bass or other instrumental enthusiasts out here? I've been playing for a long time, was in a signed/touring band at one point.
Now I just like to play and record at home..jam with some guys on occasion and customize/mod guitars.
Take last exit in Maryland going North (rt 2/Elkton/Newark). Go north (towards Newark). Turn right on rt 4. Turn right on 896. Get back on I-95 north. It'll cost you between 5-8 minutes, depending on lights.
Southbound, take 896 N exit (towards Newark). Left on rt 4. Left on Elkton Rd (rt 2). Back on 95 S
Quicker way is to hit that first light Otts Chapel Rd I believe. Ewing towing will be there on the right. Turn there then go and make a left at Chestnut Rd or whatever, puts you right there on 896 at the exit, and you don't have to deal with all of the malarchy by the UD stadium if it's a Home hen's game that day.
You've gotta pay the troll toll to get into this boy's soul....
If you look at flaccos numbers this season vs his career.. He's not really actually having that much of a down season considering who his options are to throw to.
Completion pct is just under 64, TSS are just about on par his yardage is actually a little above his normal pace, and he's thrown a few more ints..but history has shown that he will usually throw most of his picks in bunches, and go extended periods without.
With a to of home game remaining, I think at seasons end his numbers will be right around what he usually does, which to me would be an achievement considering his receivers.
I would owe apologies to about 10 people here.
No way Harbaugh is on the "Hot Seat"
3 AFC Championships
1 Super Bowl
7 Playoff appearances..with at least 1 win each time
0 losing seasons so far.
Realistically, it would take this team missing the playoffs a few years in a row for Biscotti to fire Harbaugh.
Not to blame injuries, but with all the injuries that we have had we have been playing a basic vanilla defense that EVERY team has been able to diagnose. When you have a defensive coordinator that isn't creative, like Pees, this is going to happen. I'm hoping Ozzie and Harbaugh don't give Pees a pass at the end of the season because of all the injuries.
Dude they haven't been playing Vanilla defense.
Pees has tried everything. .nothing has worked. I must be watching a different game than you, because I see Pees calling safety blitzes, zone blitzes, man blitzes, they still don't get sacks, even when they drop back in coveragetting out linebackers can't cover TE's and our safeties are letting guys get past them in defenses where their only job is to cover deep..and they STILL blow their coverage.
Half of our defensive starters are average to slightly below average players right now...that's not something that pees can control.
